Sprixie Joins the Ranks in Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash

Sprixie is new Rosalina confirmed

The game's missing a few things but nonetheless, I welcome the Sprixie as she's a pleasant surprise as a playable character.

Instead of Shy Guy or Paratroopa we get Sprixie? I'm a little upset... Oh well, hopefully others are more happy with the character roster than I am, at least Waluigi and Toadette are in!

If we are going to keep getting updates on this maybe I'll have to just give in and tell myself I want it. It looks nice anyway.

Can 4 amiibo that I've trained play each other while I just watch and drink a beer?

Does XCX have any amiibo support at all? I never dig buy Shulk but maybe I can be convinced to look for him. I may have to go back and statt watching the old trailers in Japanese again if we aren't going to be getting any new ones.

I may get this to have a new Nintendo game to play over the holidays. Automatic Mario is now ruining Super Mario Maker as 100 Mario Challenge now seems to pick over half of its courses to be that type (Medium difficulty by the way).

Well that was unexpected, though I loved 3D World, so I'll gladly welcome her in.

Interesting, I appreciate the use of new characters. I'm not sure if I'll play as her, but I'm glad to see her in the game, especially over character clones.

Hardly an an awful choice, though I highly doubt anyone's first choice. They should make it so you can choose between all the Sprixies though.

Not that big of a fan of 3D World so this didn't excite me.

Remember the days when there was only 1 female character to choose, like Peach in Mario Kart 64? It's nice to see how female friendly Nintendo has become with Peach, Daisy, Rosalina, Toadette and Sprixie in this game.

First Rosalina, then Isabelle, and now Sprixie...ugh...lol

This game is shaping up to become a top contender for most boring unoriginal game of the year.

I honestly would get this just for her and Rosie, but I can't day one. Hopefully these will all become amiibo, I will raid for a Sprixie amiibo, but that would be rude.

Free DLC is the only thing that I need confirmed. Still getting it around the Holidays.

They need to truly open up the roster, have the inklings, etc, and add the GBA RPG elements as another mode.

Still way better than Mario Kart 8's roster for inclusion of Bowser Jr. alone. Now we just need Nabbit and it gets my "certified awesome roster" award.

I think if SM3DW had put a little more effort into its story, people might have been more excited for Sprixie's inclusion. I mean, the only way to even find out what here name was/where you were was by pausing the game and reading the sign in the background of the menu.

Kinda okay with the Sprixies only if we could choose the color. Lol green is eh. Would rather have had a blue or purple. However I feel like Mario Tennis is the time for unknown nintendo characters to shine I would love E Gadd playing with everyone! Hell even get Rob! Or Petey The Piranha back from double dash lol

@rjejr : The cover art (including the hardware bundle) makes no mention of amiibo support. Even if amiibo support were included, it would most likely have been similar to how it was implemented in Xenoblade Chronicles 3D (which simply allows you to unlock extra tokens by tapping once per day and has absolutely no bearing on gameplay).

It's a shame though. Even shoehorned functionality like that of XC3D is better than nothing.

@sillygostly I'm sure people must have said it before, but the Shulk amiibo unlocking the Monado as a weapon would be perfect. Well unless that sword would be completly out of place in the game, I haven't watched the vids that closely to see what style of weapons they were using. I just know unlocking the spinner in Hyrule Warriors is still pretty much the best use I've gotten out of our amiibo. But they also unlocked a lot of really high level weapons and Epona in HW as well. Since Monolith is now owned by Nitndo, making XCX a 1st party game, I thought they would shoehorn in something like you said. Preferably no Zero Suit Samus outfit, I think that schtick has been done to death by now.

@Travisty3 Well, it kinda depends on which character we're talking about. My favorite Mario characters are generic characters: Luigi and Shy Guy. I don't mind non-generic characters joining the roster, I've just never liked Sprixie. I'm really okay with many playable characters, I just wish they put the generic characters into the game first, and then focused on adding others.

In short, I'm fine with both generic and non-generic characters, as long as Luigi is in the game. I just really don't like Sprixie at all. If this article was about almost any other Mario character, I would've been find with it; I'm just not a fan of Sprixie.
