@Taya There's a difference between the usage of AI to use a company's properties in a way that goes against copyright and such, and using AI for basic tasks.
@rjejr While I will agree that releasing DLC of content that could have already been in the base game is always shady, you're also ignoring some key points. The Donkey Kong Bananza stuff definitely did feel like it could have been in the base game.
In this case, though, you can more blame Gamefreak itself. In addition to that, how is this any different than the old Pokemon model of releasing the base game, and then releasing an 'updated version with minor differences and additions' a year later? Pokemon has basically done this from the beginning. Only now you don't have to buy the exact same game again, but just DLC of other content.
It's scummy, but hardly a new or recent thing with Pokemon.
I was on the fence about Z-A. Wasn't sure if I even wanted to get it. Then I caved, said 'heck it', and did.
The experience has been positive. There are some things that could have been improved upon or done a little better. However it really has shown to be a fun game.
The side missions alone are pretty fun just to be able to see how crazy and whacked out the humans in the Pokemon world can be, as well as the interactions between humans and Pokemon. The 'regular' Pokemon games would do wonders with incorporating side missions like that.
@Diowine "But doesn't the shown MK look like it could be run on the current Switch?"
It looks like a game. Game 'graphics' as a whole feel like they've reached a point where it feels like there's genuinely no actual generational improvement or difference that can be noticed. That it all just becomes noticeable only when someone obsesses way too hard and stares at every single detail.
As long as a game looks good, is fun to play, and runs fine, that's pretty much all that should matter when it comes to them.
And besides, the Mario Kart was barely even a teaser. Best to just wait until actual footage of the game is focused on instead of doom and gloom.
@boxyguy People simply want to project their own insecurities and get angry at the silliest of things, and act like some of those things are the cause.
@Poco_Lypso Some people don't really care too much about actual long-term ownership of video games and such. You have people, myself included, who once a game has been played enough of or finished, they never touch the game again or have any reason to.
The only thing that matters is if the person had fun.
@Anti-Matter You only really continue to perpetuate this issue and give this mental bogeyman power by burying your head in the sand and never trying to move on from it.
Ultimately it's your decision to treat things as such, but it does feel as if it's something you need to analyze and work on.
Yuzu did it to themselves with the way they did things like having specifically TotK support fixes behind Patreon. They pretty much spelled their own doom and it was inevitable.
@naxuu Don't get involved with arguing with people online. One never wins by doing that, and only wastes time. It is never worth it.
@LadyCharlie Thank you, armchair analysist, for acting like this is all a much bigger deal than it is and that Nintendo is apparently in big trouble or hurting just because you say it is. Bravo on the Nintendo doom-slinging that's been going on for years. Never gets old and stale.
@JoeSooper It's only because so many people were probably making an issue out of it like whiny babies, and so The Pokemon Company felt they had to act upon it.
@Dr_Corndog As Mattesdude said, Fear of Missing Out. You could have also taken a couple seconds to simply Google the word and you would have gotten it quicker than having to wait.
@BenAV "Now that Pokemon has gone completely down the tubes"
Every single time someone makes a comment like this, I have to wonder if they're actually living under a rock or just blinded by their own bubble so hard that they have lost touch with the reality of things.
@masterLEON Alternatively, more people actually just enjoy the things they love and have fun with it in comparison to those who like to stroke their ego thinking they're somehow more mentally superior than the masses.
But hey. Being cynical and spiteful is the key to living I suppose.
While I've seen performance issues, I haven't encountered any glitches. Things clearly could have used more time and all that.
Though for the most part, I've found the setting, characters, and other aspects to be far more enjoyable than Sword and Shield, which just felt overall boring.
So in the long run, it's a bit of a shame that this game has been bogged down by all of these issues, and will have that clouding things.
@Fizza It's Pokemon, and there's only two months left before release. Of course they're going to ramp up advertisement and news.
Sun/Moon had a much bigger announcement and news cycle over the year. S/V, meanwhile, didn't have any more news until June, skipped July, tossed out a trailer at the beginning of August, and will now be showing another trailer here in the beginning of September. Last weak was just a reveal of a single new Pokemon.
So three trailers over the course of four months is not 'Sun/Moon all over again'
I don't really see it as a big deal. They re-release the game and people who haven't had the chance to play them get another chance. Nothing wrong with that.
Unless you're someone who thinks they need to own every version of a game and play it for the millionth time. Then you have a bit of a problem and only yourself to really blame.
@abdias It's been 12 years and you are still incapable of getting over the idea that a magical ice stalactite monster with snow on it has the appearance of ice cream in a franchise that already has so many weird and wacky cartoon monster creatures.
It's pretty sad and ridiculous to hold such intense hatred for a single Pokemon evolutionary line.
@mr-duster It's had quite a few glaring issues. But ultimately nobody really cares because 'it's Pokemon'. That mentality isn't going to change, so it doesn't really matter.
@ChromaticDracula Once again someone decides to torment the likes of poor Trubbish and Vanillish just for the sake of it. Being those two is suffering, as they are constantly the target of nostalgia-blinded people who refuse to accept them and understand that Pokemon are, and have always been, monsters that come in all kinds of shapes and forms.
Truly, it is a sad existence. I weep for them as they continue to be needless meme targets for no actual real reason.
@Controller-Drift They have stated they want the Pokemon games to be 'easily accessible' to everybody. Though I do feel that they've kinda taken that to a bit of an extreme.

@EarthboundBenjy Because Pokemon has always done this kind of thing. You could spend days questioning this kind of thing if you really wanted.

Re: Opinion: Pokémon Legends Z-A Is The Creepiest Entry Yet, Not In A Good Way
@stillpondjosh I played Digimon Time Stranger. Amazing game, great experience. Really glad I played it.
I decided to go ahead and get Z-A as well despite initially being unsure if I wanted to or not. The experience of playing it has been pretty alright.
