If you're not done with Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, you better hurry up - because Game Freak's new entry Pokémon Legends: Arceus will be released on the Nintendo Switch very soon.
In fact, we're so close to release - we're now just one month out. It's almost hard to believe! The game is due to arrive on 28th January and in preparation, the official Pokémon Twitter account has issued the following reminder:
This new title blends action, exploration and the RPG roots of the series as players embark on survey missions within the ancient Hisui region. As for the Pokémon in this region, you can find out more in our detailed guide:
Will you be jumping into the latest adventure when it launches on the Nintendo Switch next month? Tell us below.

Team Cyndaquil.
One month until I buy it.
I'm okay with no gym battles, it'll be refreshing, but I would like to know better what exactly I'll be buying. If it's just more Sword and Shield with more emphasis on exploration then it's a hard pass for me.
I wanted to get this game day one, But I still will wait a little, just to make sure if there's any bugs that need tuning.
And soon, the real games will begin...
Which reminds me that I need to hurry up and play Brilliant Diamond (I’ve finished the main portion of Shining Pearl), capture all of the legendaries in both versions and clone the hell out of them before finally updating the games so that I don’t miss out on potential Arceus, Shaymin, and Darkrai events.
I probably wont get it but if turns out to be good I hope it succeeds so Gamefreak can put more effort in their next games.
Though the framerate and resolution of the game looks bad at times from what I seen, I hope they fix it in time.
Completely unrelated but I'm kinda curious what Next Level games are doing after Luigi's Mansion. Really would love to see a new Punch Out on the Switch
Please don't be bad like the main series has been since X/Y
@shineget64 Oh, come on... It has NOT been bad since X/Y.
@iLikeUrAttitude You should at least give it a try and see if you like it. And Game Freak still can put effort into their games, whether this one is a success or not.
@mr-duster No I'm honestly good. I'll look at reviews and gameplay as well as hear out friends that will get the game and decide for myself whether or not its worth purchasing.
Even if Gamefreak doesn't mess this up there are still a ton of more interesting games to me. This game is near the bottom on my list when it comes to priority.
If there is a demo for it, I'll definitely try that first before I decide to buy it.
@mr-duster It's had quite a few glaring issues. But ultimately nobody really cares because 'it's Pokemon'. That mentality isn't going to change, so it doesn't really matter.
So many pokemon games lately..
@Franz Right on!
@mr-duster This is such an odd thing to say. Why in the world would you tell someone who's reluctant to play a game to still invest time and money on a game you haven't even played? Unless you're a Gamefreak salesguy, in which case you're doing a terrible job.
I need to see more gameplay.
Even tho i am hyped about this game (not a pokemon fan)
But i hope the gameplay is really good.
Still very little info about how this game even plays which at this point is ringing alarm bells.
Hoping for the best however.
Can not wait for this.
Haven’t been this excited about a Pokémon game in such a long time. Probably since Gold/Silver came out or when I first got my copy of Blue!
One more month until I can finally use the evolution to one of the most underrated Pokemon ever made imo. ITS BASCULINS TIME TO SHINE BABEEEE.
@Yorumi True, while I'm happy that they don't spoil half of the game (like they did with ORAS and SM) it feels like they are showing a bit to little of this game. Especially since they are going in a new direction with this game so we don't really know what to expect when it comes certain things like story, (side-) quests etc
Finally Pokémon is becoming something new. It feels like the Pokemon Black / Pokemon Red generation all over again. All new story and gameplay mechanics. I can't wait.
@shineget64 X and Y started the "going worse" path, but they were still fine games.
I don't count ORAS because it being good is because it was a remake.
Sun and Moon started the big drop, and the Ultra games were huge cash grabs (90% of the game is SAME as Sun and Moon).
The rest is history.
I've pre ordered but I do have some doubts over this game, so there's no online at all? Not battles or trading? No trainers to fight in the game? And 9/10 you will just be throwing pokeballs to catch the wild pokemon like the let's go games and only battle them if they get angry?
So far its sounding like it could get quite boring especially if the areas aren't even that big, also sounds like it's a one and done style game and could be pretty short which I wouldn't mind.
Even with the negatives I will still get it as its pokemon and I will try every game they put out but tbh I can't see this getting anywhere near the quality as monster hunter stories 2
Will wait for a review but looking forward to the new approach
@UltimateOtaku91 There is online trading. Also there are trainer battles but they are probably rarer than in other games
@mariomaster96 I didn't think there was trainers to battle as apparently your character is one of the first people to actually have pokemon, I haven't seen any trainer battles in the trailers either.
@UltimateOtaku91 The official site for Legends Arceus mentions following:
"Pokémon Battles against Other People
The mingling of people and Pokémon is still not the norm in the Hisui region. People who live alongside Pokémon are rare, and people who lead their Pokémon in battle are even rarer. However, some people—such as certain wardens—have forged strong bonds with Pokémon and may challenge you to a battle."
@mariomaster96 ah so the trainer battles will be against the wardens which won't be many. They should of included online battles in my opinion, I mean to collect all the pokemon in the game and do what with them?
@clianvXAi There's been two, and one isn't even out yet. Relax.
This is the closets I been to buy a Pokemon game for myself in over 20 plus years, come on gamefreak, don't let me down!!
@iLikeUrAttitude Well, I find that sad. You're not willing to give the game an honest try for yourself, experience it and see if you like it before judging it.
@Rhaoulos I'm not a "salesguy". I wouldn't be here if I was. And I never said "invest time and money". I said that people should give it an honest try and see if they like it instead of taking other people's word for it. If they can afford it, of course.
@BriskSunrise It's not about "nobody cares because it's Pokemon". It's not that "it's Pokemon". It's that maybe whatever issues the game has won't bother everyone. Then again it may not be everyone's cup of tea either.
@mr-duster Whats actually sad is that you're so fixated on someone not showing interest for a game.
Its even more strange is that you're getting so defensive over a game you haven't even played.
I'm not going to spend money on a game that I have little interest in and am skeptical about.
Get over it.
Prepare for extreme disappointment!
I am looking forward to it, though I do have some reservations.
At this point the bar is so low that I don't feel comfortable looking forward to this one anymore. I love Pokemon to absolute bits but it feels like they still haven't evolved past the 3DS era.
Hope it looks better than what we’ve seen so far. Honestly poor effort for such a monster IP with millions of sales.
@iLikeUrAttitude I would appreciate if you told me not to "get over it". That's quite rude. And I'm not "fixated" on anything, nor am I trying to act overly defensive. I know I haven't played the game yet. But I'm going to. I'm just saying that I don't think it's fair to judge a game without actually seeing if you like it or not.
But fine. Do what you want. Just don't be disrespectful about it.
@HorridCrow Ah yes, the old "monster IP with millions of sales" bit. Does it even matter how big an IP is?
@symmy Wait until the damn game comes out.
Nintendohate is at it again, it seems.
Personally, I can't wait for this game. It looks beautiful, and an unique take on the Pokémon franchise. Maybe too far out of the comfort zone for some of you.
But it's very simple.
GameFreak: doesn't change the game.
You: "It's the SAME game again!!"
GameFreak: changes the game.
You: "I DON'T LIKE CHANGE!!!"
Whiles crying like a 4-year-old.
@mr-duster Looking at your comment history, it seems to be mostly about pestering people who disagree about Pokémon. Don't bother answering, I am blocking you to have a much cleaner comment section.
@Yorumi,
Expecting a big direct with more information, however it is cutting it a little close.
@Rhaoulos,
That does tend to happen both ways though, people that suggested the Pokemon games on the Switch are not all that bad tend to get harassed and labeled as defenders, surely it's all only personal subjective opinions at the end of the day.
hype hype hype hype. By the videos, the world looks empty and flat. The gameplay and dynamics do seem to be the best in the series of pokemon, but not in the gaming industry overall. Do not buy at day one, and wait for the metacritic reviews from the real users. After the travesties of epic proportions that nintendo has been releasing with pokemon, will legends be the exception? lol i sure want it to be
@mr-duster In what world doesn't that matter? They rake in billions with this franchise and charge full-price for subpar, low effort games. Let's be honest, what they've showed of Arceus so far looks worse than most indie titles released these days that are made with much smaller teams and budgets. They're sitting on one of the biggest IP's in history, and this is what they create?
I love the Pokemon franchise, I always have. Is it perfect? Absolutely not. Is there things that could be done to make it better? Of course, there's room for improvement for everything.
Having said that, I know at some point (maybe not day 1), I'll pick this up and give it a chance and hope it's enjoyable enough.
People will be able little by little officially start to play this in January 27th 1 PM UTC/GMT+0 time, so this post was made 37,5 hours less then month away till that in my books.
@johnvboy It doesn't matter whether it's the fanbase or detractors. Harassing anyone who's not 100% for or against the franchise isn't acceptable. Any blind Nazi fanboy is an aberration.
@HorridCrow "Travesties of epic proportions"? No. The recent Pokemon games haven't been that. And no, Legends: Arceus does NOT look worse than some indie games. It looks FINE. Besides, you could be a small indie company and still make lots of money. Whether you like these games or not, they are not nearly as poorly-made as you make them out to be. Trust me when I say they could've been much, MUCH worse.
And to respond to Rhaoulos, harassing or pestering people was never my intention. I just want to let them know if I feel like they're being unfair or unreasonable. And they're not very negotiable. This is my last word on this, so please don't bother to answer.
@Rhaoulos,
Totally agree, although this only tends to apply to the people that like the franchise, the people that do not like it tend to get a free pass, when calling out the people who enjoy the game.
Likely its gonna get leaked sooner
I’m cautiously optimistic. I literally was like “wouldn’t a BOTW pokemon be perfect?” And then it happened. But I’m scared it’ll just be like all the other pokemon games… boring.
@mr-duster Why are you quoting me on stuff I didn't say? Also, please raise your standards and get some glasses. Over 200 people work on the game, so why does it look like an early 3DS game and runs like ass? Even in the trailers they didn't try to hide the severe framerate drops, low textures, lazy animations etc. They don't care, it will sell either way at full price.
@HorridCrow I wasn't. I was referring to another person who blocked me. And please don't say "get some glasses". Eyesight doesn't have anything to do with this. If it really did look like a 3DS game (which it doesn't), it would look a lot more pixely. It's not about "caring". It never was. Some people aren't bothered by the problems as much, which is where the sales come from. Others are completely put off by the problems or price, and the games don't get money from those people.
I'm still busy with Brilliant Diamond and don't want to play two Pokémon games close to each other. Once I'm done with a game the next game I play is usually a different genre.
And barely into the game to catch the balloon monster which I need to do this Friday....
So many people hate it I'm gonna have to go against the grain and buy it.
And there are still a few more questions to be answered... namely gameplay mechanics.
@Yorumi,
Yes that would sound about right, the Pokemon company handle their own direct presentations, and yes they do like to play their cards very close to their chests.
@mr-duster I guess I'm not allowed to have pre-release impressions from all they've shown us so far?
@mr-duster Oh, it absolutely looks worse than a lot of indies. Hat in Time, Impossible Lair, the Touryst, etc.
@sanderev I'm not opposed to open world. It's just that what we've seen has been very technically disappointing, and empty looking. IMO
@symmy I didn't say that.
@symmy No, it doesn't. And Yooka-Laylee and the Impossble Lair isn't an indie game.
@symmy Because we haven't seen all of it yet.
