@Hobbesyall Ys IX was announced as coming to Switch in mid 2021. Don't know when it will reach the West, but shouldn't take too long as it has already been localised for PS4.
I love Falcom as I love the Ys series. I've been hoping for a remake of Ys V (I've played the translated SNES game but I'd rate it just 'OK') and it would be nice if some of the games that are available on PSP and PC could come to console - like Ys I&II, Oath in Felghana and Ark of Napishtim. I expect Celceta will make its way to Switch at some point.
I'd love to see Battlecry as I really enjoyed that game and its art style would make it perfect for a re-release at a higher res with not much more work needed.
Can we have an update of Mobile Suit Gundam: Federation vs Zeon too while we're talking about anime mech games from around 2002?
Having a video out on a portable device wasn't new when the Switch arrived. Hell, people have been docking laptops (or connecting VGA cables) to see them on a monitor for decades. I thought what made the Switch a 'hybrid' was the ability to also unclip the controllers and connect them together to make a wireless controller. And to use other wireless (or wired) controllers with it too (most handhelds are limited to single player). Playing on a handheld with a video cable hanging out the back is rarely comfortable.
Looking forward to this one. I've been eyeing up a new telly but the old one still works so I can't justify replacing it just yet. Sounds like half an hour of this and it'll have a controller embedded in the screen and I'll be off shopping!
I've been having loads of retro puzzle fun with Chip's Challenge on Evercade recently (Atari Lynx Collection 2), so may have a go at this once I'm done with that.
@judaspete I totally get that for heavily story driven games, but I barely remember seeing cutscenes in this game so assumed they were short enough to have been done as video.
@clvr Ah, customisation of the character's appearance makes sense I guess. Although, like @NEStalgia I don't actually remember there even being cut scenes and I'm quite a way in on Xbox!
Nascar games can be fun. Tracks may not have much in the way of corners, but there are so many cars that it's usually them that you're steering around. F1 games are usually too technical for me. I like racing where you can bump the other cars here and there. In F1 you bump a car and need to pit for new suspension and a new wing!
@Expa0 Hah, while I was writing my post saying that I'm playing Legend of Grimrock II on PC you posted to say you're playing LoG! Despite not having much experience in the genre, I loved the original so much that I bought the sequel on GOG when I finished it and am playing that one now. So far it seems to be similar but better in pretty much every way.
I love pixel art, but I can also appreciate good HD 2D artwork and this looks nice. That said, this game, like SFIII, was all about the animation. Without seeing it in motion I can't really say if it is 'worthy' or not.
Mind you, they haven't exactly gone out there on the design as the characters pretty much look like they would if very clever AI removed all the pixelated edges and turned the original artwork into sharp HD graphics.
@dojmin It's not really like that though as the UK is part of Europe. This is a UK site and the UK is covered by Nintendo of Europe and games are only on sale on the UK store when they go on sale on all European eShops. I agree that they should probably stick prices up in Dollars, Pounds and Euros though.
Looking at the list on Wikipedia, it's pretty amazing that the Xbox 360, PS3 and Wii all came out between 2005 and 2006 and yet all managed to sell over 84 million units.
While I'm sure Nintendo has inspired other companies to look at cashing in on the success of the Switch, just like the NES Mini they were definitely not the first ones to the table with the actual idea. I had multiple controllers that could clamp to a phone or tablet years before the Switch appeared. It's not like docking stations to allow a screen to connect to a portable PC are exactly a new thing either. Don't get me wrong, Nintendo nailed it (with both Switch and NES Mini) and others took notice, but they didn't really come up with a revolutionary concept. Arguably the most original aspects of the Switch design were the ability for the JoyCons to join together into a controller for TV play or to be two separate controllers for multiplayer. Oddly, these seem to be the least copied ideas.
Will definitely get this. Power Strike on the Master System may actually hold the record for the shortest time between me starting a game and seeing the words 'Game Over'.
How does this game run on Switch now? There were lots of complaints at launch and I never picked it up as it hit Xbox Game Pass. Is it worth getting on Switch now?
Yes! Yes! Yes! I absolutely loved Spelunky on Vita. When Spelunky 2 came to PS4 I held off as the original was such a delight to play on a portable system. I nearly caved in when it went on sale recently but am glad I didn't as the Switch feels like the natural home for it.
Yeah, call me lazy but I much prefer a simple poll than these 'go and rate every game' articles. I guess these generate far more clicks to different pages and lots more ad revenue though...
Never really thought much about media apps on Switch. Didn't even know YouTube was available! I would never use it for streaming docked as I have other devices and I wouldn't want a 720p portable streaming device.
On a different subject, 'binge' is one of the most overused words in the English language these days. Its use above is a perfect example of how it is put into sentences for the sake of it.
This article should provide an explanation for all the people who moan "Why release Sonic again when they could dig deep and release obscure gems?!". Sadly, it's because lots of people go out and buy Sonic and no one buys the obscure gems.
@yusuf2002 I'm with you. If Ridge Racer 7 on PS3 and Ridge Racer 2 on PSP could run at 60fps then I don't see why a game like this can't do 60 on Switch.
I love Nightdive Studios and their remasters, but I feel like this one could have done with a full remake. The visual style and atmosphere of this game would really benefit from modern graphics and lighting effects. I guess it doesn't have the name recognition to make more than a brush up financially viable though.
Puma's Future Rider range is infuriating. They have loads of lovely colourways but all are ruined by the bizarre lump of plastic on the side (where this one says POWER). I was given a pair as a present and I had to send them back as the random plastic bits stick out so much. Such a shame.
@Westlondonmist I completely agree, it's a great cart. Except BMX Simulator as the second track on that is evil and makes me want to throw my Evercade across the room!
I am currently reading 'Let's Go Dizzy: The Story of the Oliver Twins' and playing The Oliver Twins Collection for Evercade, so I am unsurprisingly excited by this news!
I saw the words 'fantasy' and 'beat em up' and for a second thought this was going to be like a 90s D&D style beat em up. I'd be up for a new game in that kind of fantasy setting but think I'm good for cleaning up the grimey city street with my fists right now.
The issue I have with this is that it's not 'Control on Switch'. I can play Xbox Game Pass on my phone if I should choose to, using a Bluetooth game pad. That's not playing those games on my phone, it's just streaming to it. I don't need to buy a separate £280 games machine to play streamed games.
I will definitely pick this up as it will probably cover my Turrican needs, but it's a shame it doesn't include Turrican 3 or Super Turrican 2. The other collections are more complete but are sadly very expensive given that they're split across two releases rather than on a single cartridge (these games would all fit onto one 8GB cartridge).
I love my Evercade and have been really enjoying this collection. Have played a lot of Super Robin Hood and Dizzy the Adventurer so far. Man, the music in Dizzy the Adventurer is seriously painful though!
Some people moan about build quality of the Evercade (I saw an online reviewer unfavourably comparing it to his £800 iPhone), but you can get it for £55 with an 11 game cartridge. It's not likely to feel like a premium device for that price! It's cheap and cheerful and is about one thing only: good old fashioned games.

With cut scenes, isn't it possible to render the video in-engine on a PC and then just record it and play it back as video file in game on the Switch?

Re: Video: Here's What The Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time 3D Could Potentially Look Like On Switch
