Re: A Limited Edition Fortnite Nintendo Switch Bundle Has Been Announced For Europe

BionicDodo

I have no interest in Fortnight, but they have done this well and the JoyCon colours are great. The idea of owning a console branded with a game that won't be playable on it down the line when the servers have shut down seems weird to me though. But then, I guess the people buying this will have dumped their Switch in an attic by the time the servers are shutdown.

Re: Review: NBA 2K21 - Ignore The Microtransactions And You've Got The Best Basketball Game On Switch

BionicDodo

@scully1888 Ignore the bribe junk, people are obsessed with all journos being corrupt, because some anonymous commenter on the internet told them it's so.

Genuine question though - If the game is much the same as last year - a game that was recently available for the price of a sandwich - do you feel the new game genuinely contains enough new content to command a £50 price tag? This site was very harsh on the last FIFA game for being essentially identical to the previous year's game.

Re: Rumour: Nintendo Is Reportedly Asking Switch Developers To Make Their Games 4K-Ready

BionicDodo

The Switch will be 4 years old next year, so I expect another new model will come fairly soon and I doubt we'll get a Switch 2 for several more years. If they could drop a new Pro model at £280 with the original Switch taking a big price cut I think that would be a decent move as Sony and Microsoft release their new machines.

I'd grab a new Switch with a built in 1080P OLED screen. If it has a bit more oomph under the hood to run games at 1080/60 in portable then I'd definitely buy it. I've still got enough of a games backlog to not need a completely new machine.

Re: Emulation Expert M2 Expects To Collaborate With Sega Again In The Future

BionicDodo

I would love to see many of Sega's 90s arcade games make a return, but I understand that it isn't as simple as it may seem to us. A release like Virtua Racing, or the PS3/360 release of Daytona USA, costs more to convert/update than a Mega Drive or early 2D arcade game does and I can only assume that neither of those games sold particularly well. A few hundred people on gaming website forums clamouring for a release does not necessarily equal lots of sales and a profit.

Re: Yet Another Physical Indie Publisher Appears, Kicks Things Off With Super Blood Hockey

BionicDodo

@Toshiro_Baloney I have similar feelings to @chickje on this game. Its OK and fun for half an hour but I had forgotten I owned it until I saw this article! Don't know if there have been any updates to it since I last played, but I also found the CPU opposition really hard to beat (and the game wasn't enjoyable enough to make me want to put in the time to 'git gud'). The NHL games on the Mega Drive are still much better than this. Can't see how anyone could justify $40 for a physical copy. I paid about £4 or something digitally.

Worth noting though that the violence/blood levels can be turned down in the menu if you find it too distracting.

Re: Hori Reveals Three New Colours For Its Split Pad Pro Switch Controller

BionicDodo

I've been tempted by this a few times, but the lack of wireless is annoying as it rules out FlipGrip use. I really wish the FlipGrip had some way of connecting the JoyCon rails to the sides (at least if the left hand rail was connected the Hori D-Pad JoyCon would work with it).

I also feel like the addition of wireless and an accessory to click the two halves together would have made it a decent controller for playing in TV mode too.

Re: Switch Software Sales Are Comfortably Beating The PS2's, The Best-Selling Console Of All Time

BionicDodo

It is worth noting that the PS2 had a ridiculous number of games released, many many major titles from all the big publishers bar Nintendo. Nintendo Switch has fewer original major titles than the PS2 had. Also, Nintendo's biggest selling games are often likely to outsell competitors' as there is always a heavy skew towards Nintendo games sales on Nintendo console, versus sales of games by other publishers. The true stat would be total software sales for the consoles.

Re: The State Of The Switch eShop Is "Heartbreaking" Says No More Robots Boss

BionicDodo

While the eShop could clearly do with a refresh, I don't use any of the storefronts on my consoles to find out about games. I use the Internet. It's filled with news, reviews, pictures and videos of games. The biggest issue I have with the eShop is that there's no basket feature if you wish to buy multiple games at once.

I use psprices.com and eshop-prices.com to track discounts and deals and which the best eShop to purchase a game off is.

Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl #47 - Shadowrun

BionicDodo

Yay, I'd been asking for this one as I loved the game when I was younger, and I like all of the covers. Gotta go with the Japanese one here as it does such a great job of showing the dirty, dark futuristic world of Shadowrun.

Re: Poll: Rate Your Favourite Nintendo Switch Online SNES Games

BionicDodo

There are many classics in the collection, but it really needs some more RPGs. When I think of the SNES it is the role play games that really made it stand out from the Mega Drive and it would be good to see more of them on this service (especially as I don't view the Breath of Fire games as being among the best).

Super Mario RPG, Final Fantasy IV & VI, Earthbound, Chrono Trigger, Shadowrun, Terranigma, Soul Blazer, Illusion of Time (aka Gaia), Secret of Evermore, Lufia I & II, Star Ocean...
