Re: Super Nintendo Favourite 'Joe & Mac' Switch Remake Rolls Out Fall Release

BionicDodo

Joe & Mac are/were fine, but I really do feel like the industry has either hit a serious creativity block at this point, or has just grown to the point where there are far more coders than creative people. They've got past remaking the great games, then the good/important ones and now they're just remaking/remastering everything. And journalists describing everything old as being a 'classic' doesn't help!

Re: Hands On: Splatoon 3 Brings New Ideas, But Nothing Revolutionary

BionicDodo

I've still never played a Splatoon game. I don't ever play online and rarely have anyone to play locally with, so generally avoid multiplayer focused games. Is there enough single player content in the Splatoon games to make it worth a purchase? I usually wait for games light on single player content to drop in price drastically before diving in, but Nintendo games never drop that far.

Re: Poll: What's The Best Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Game?

BionicDodo

I do wish articles labelled 'Poll' were an actual poll and not just an attempt to get us to click onto loads of different pages to get that sweet ad revenue flowing. I know you guys need to keep the lights on, but still...

Anyway, I haven't played the new one (which looks great) so I'm going to go with TMNT on GBA.

Re: Video: What Was Your First Video Game Ever?

BionicDodo

As a man in his 40s with older brothers I can't be sure what the first game was. Some early memories...

Snapper (Pac-Man clone) for Acorn Electron
Boxer for Acorn Electron
Sopwith for DOS (on a Zenith Data Systems laptop with a blue/white screen that my dad brought home from work)

I definitely remember my first console games though... Our parents bought us a Master System with Wonder Boy in Monster Land (brilliant) and Altered Beast (not so brilliant).

Re: SEGA Announces The Mega Drive Mini 2, Boasting 50 Genesis And Mega CD Games

BionicDodo

@OorWullie I agree! Given how almost everything seems to get a re-release, remake or remaster these days, surely a Strike Collection is deserving of a release? With the 16-bit trilogy and the two 32-bit entries (Soviet Strike and Nuclear Strike) there would be plenty of content for the package. They could also throw in Future Cop LAPD (it started life as Future Strike) and some alternate versions of the games - like the Master System Desert Strike and N64 Nuclear Strike. I'd buy it!

Re: Star Wars: KOTOR II Receiving Limited Run Games Physical Switch Release

BionicDodo

I like having physical games to sit on the shelf, but I just can't get on board with the price that getting these Limited games sent to the UK costs, especially for games that are otherwise available so cheaply. And that's before the whole issue or when will they actually get sent out. I picked both KotOR games up on PC for a total of £5, so that'll do for me.

Re: Random: People Are Recording Concerts On Their 3DS Consoles, And We Love It

BionicDodo

Yeah, I'm with the side that think filming concerts is quite selfish. Trying to watch a gig while dozens of brightly illuminated phone screens wave around in the way is quite annoying. I also don't really get what people do with the footage (other than stick it on YouTube to get 12 views as mentioned above). Do people really sit down later to enjoy watching their poor quality video/audio recording of half a song at a gig they went to?

Re: Nintendo Forecasts Profits And Sales To Drop In This Financial Year

BionicDodo

@dewokkel I would love to be in the position to ignore my Switch due to my heavy Steam Deck usage... but they still haven't invited me to purchase one! The annoying thing is that I was there the second the pre-orders went live and got through to the payment page before it crashed... over and over again. Eventually got through after 45 minutes and am still waiting for the email to say I can actually buy the thing!

Overall though, the Steam Deck is always likely to be a fairly niche product and have very little impact on Nintendo's sales. I know multiple Switch owners and none of them even knew the Steam Deck existed before I mentioned the fact that I'd pre-ordered one.

Re: We're Getting A Second Valis Collection On Switch

BionicDodo

Funnily enough, I played through the MD version of Valis today on Evercade. It's a pretty fun game, with great music (although there were some sound issues on the Evercade) but movement is too slow and the dialogue in the cut scenes moves at a ridiculously slow rate. Still, it's one of 12 games (including Valis 3) in a physical collection that costs £17.99, so it feels like a better value proposition than these releases.
