I get cloud gaming as a rental, or as part of a subscription service like Game Pass, but paying full price for cloud games is like paying £15 for a film that I can only watch when I'm on the Netflix website.
HDMI 2.0 is a port standard, not a cable standard, so there's not technically such a thing as a HDMI 2.0 cable. Any High Speed HDMI cable capable of 18Gb/s can handle 4k60, and many cables that were around before 4k was widely adopted can handle this bandwidth. HDMI 2.1 would require a new ultra high speed cable though.
I don't really care about themes. Add more options for the look of the UI for people that want them, but please add folders. I have so many games that I forget all about some of them. I don't think I've owned a modern console that didn't allow groups or folders, it just seems odd that it is still not an option after all this time.
One of the things I hate about the Internet and social media is how a tiny handful of people can often get represented as a majority. If 10 of the 100+ million PlayStation owners tweet someone and demand they port a game it leads to articles about the supposed demands of PlayStation fans and comments sections accusing every PS and Xbox owner of this and that. Not only do most PS owners not spend their lives harassing games developers on Twitter, but an awful lot clearly don't particularly care about Bayonetta sequels, or the sales and demand for the first game would have meant that Nintendo never needed to get involved in the financing the sequel. But this is the internet, so everything gets exaggerated as every click counts.
Dragonfall and Hong Kong are the bigger and better games, but Shadowrun Returns is a great introduction to CRPGs as it has a fairly short length and easily management mechanics but still tells a cool little story with great atmosphere.
Played the Shadowrun games on PC and highly recommend them. The first one is a really good intro to that kind of RPG with a fairly short runtime and no overly complex mechanics. The other two are meatier.
RIP to a cover art legend. So many of his works inspire instant nostalgia in me and I have his SoR2 cover framed on a wall at home, near my Mega Drive.
@Moroboshi876 I don't know where exactly you are, but is it possible to order it from Amazon in another country? I recently ordered something from Amazon Germany to be delivered to the UK and it worked out far cheaper (including shipping etc) than ordering the same item from UK Amazon would have.
I love these two games. The full pack is the best value (especially as it can be found for £30 or under physically) but these two are each easily worth as much as most Arcade Archives releases.
Do you guys get £10 for every time you write the words Apple or AirPods or something?! Bizarre to use a single brand name so frequently in an article that applies equally to the thousands of other bluetooth earphones/headphones out there.
Ordered this for PS4 as higher framerate is much appreciated with a fast game like Sonic. Glad that by the time my game arrives the occasional stutters on PS4 should have been ironed out. Shame it had so many launch issues though.
I'm really looking forward to the next Bitmap Books release 'Go Straight: The Ultimate Guide to Side Scrolling Beat Em Ups', so I'm not sure I can justify this one as well.
I really like the Hardcore Gaming 101 books I've got, but they're usually of lower print/picture quality than the Bitmap ones and can be a bit heavy on the typos.
While the artwork not reflecting the game can be blamed on the artist not being given enough background and information, the artwork itself is still dreadful. I know several artists and I reckon if I gave any of them a few hours to do a Mega Man cover they would come up with something far superior to that. It looks more like one of the marketing execs got their child to do it.
@OorWullie The original Sega developed Asterix game for the Master System was fabulous. Still play it from time to time. The second one, Asterix and the Secret Mission, was pretty good too and the third game, Asterix and the Great Rescue, was one of those times when the Master System game was actually much better than the Mega drive version.
@Gs69 They released a second version of the joystick called the C64 Micro Switch Joystick that is apparently better than the original one. Also, Speedlink released the Competition Pro Extra that's much better.
Isn't this actually great timing for Nintendo? Surely if they're about to buy up loads of their own shares using cash reserves, then those shares dropping in value means they can buy more of them.
I was reading through some old Mean Machines magazines the other day and thoroughly enjoyed the sections where people sent in pictures of themselves dressed as game characters. I remember as a child being surprised to see two boys from my school in a magazine dressed as Spy vs Spy.
I was always put off this game by how ugly I thought the player ship was. For some reason shmups are the genre where I'm most easily put off by the player sprite not being to my liking.
The guy is an absolute legend. How many game soundtrack producers could turn the music from their early 90s games into basically a big rave in Paris in 2018?
@SpringDivorce It's one of those classic cases where I played it a few times and died very quickly each time and then suddenly it just clicked and I was getting into the zone where I was no longer thinking and lasting longer and longer each run. Love it.
I used to play the Library stage on Goldeneye a lot, the Frigate too. Over the course of my entire life though, it's probably got to be the opening level of the original DOOM. Maybe the opening level of DOOM II. I'm playing the newly released map pack for DOOM right now in fact.
Was going to get this for PS4 as I was worried it wouldn't run too well on Switch, but I've heard nothing but praise for this port. Good work Omega Force!
I am definitely getting one of these and this has killed off the small chance I might have bought a new OLED Switch. I have hundreds of games in my Steam library already, so this feels like a no brainer.
Also, PC not only gets EVERY new Microsoft game (and Game Pass will work on this), but also a number of PlayStation console exclusives like Horizon, Days Gone, Death Stranding, Nioh, Nioh 2...
Been playing the Lynx version of this quite a bit on Evercade. It's a cracking little puzzle game. That said, it came on a cartridge, boxed with instructions and a handful of other games on the cart too for £14.99. $50 for just this game alone is... a lot. And that Mega Drive cart and packaging is truly hideous.

Re: Four More Classic Shmups Confirmed For Switch, Including Konami's Cult Hit, Xexex
@PessitheMystic Even just three folders would be good: one for Shmups, one for Arcade Archives/ACA NEOGEO and one for everything else!
Re: Four More Classic Shmups Confirmed For Switch, Including Konami's Cult Hit, Xexex
@PessitheMystic One of the main reasons I'd love folders on Switch is so I could put all of the shmups I have together in one place!
Re: Four More Classic Shmups Confirmed For Switch, Including Konami's Cult Hit, Xexex
As the owner of a FlipGrip, an arcade stick and a TV that can be rotated to portrait on its bracket.... I'm in shmup heaven with the Switch!
Now if someone could make a left JoyCon with a little digital stick like the NGPC and wireless connectivity...

Re: The Horrifying '90s-Style FPS Dusk Launches On Switch This Halloween
Dusk is a brilliant game and perfect for Halloween. As I've got a Steam Deck pre-ordered there's no need for me to double dip for portability though.

Re: Random: IGN's 'Best Video Game Of All Time' Tournament Is Getting WILD
Forget all of the ones mentioned, the real shocker here is surely that Half-Life 2 lost to Rise of the Tomb Raider!
People take these things too seriously though. What's not to love about a head to battle between Pokemon Yellow and Street Fighter II?!
Re: Random: This Tiny Game Boy Is Probably The World's Smallest Game Console
Somebody saw Sega's Game Gear Minis and said "You think THAT is a small handheld?!".

Nice little collection now, even if its still missing versions as highlighted by many above.
Now can we get a Sega Disney collection featuring all the Sega developed Mega Drive, Master System and Game Gear Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck games?

Re: Super Mario 64 LEGO '?' Block Revealed, Out In October

Crikey, that's a seriously busy screen!
Almost Human should port Legend of Grimrock I & II to Switch (and other consoles). They were great dungeon crawler throwbacks.

@SpringDivorce I love Moose Life! Despite owning lots of deep and complex games for PSVR, Moose Life is probably my most played game on it.

Oh just fudge off EA.
The thing that really annoys me though is that Konami don't capitalise by releasing decent PES games on Switch.
