Re: Hori Is Releasing Another Super Mario Themed D-Pad Joy-Con On 23rd November

BionicDodo

@HIGHscores85 Yeah, I've got one and like it but it really sucks that it doesn't work with the FlipGrip. I thought about trying to wire the Switch side connectors out to it when in the FlipGrip but decided it was too much of a pain to do.

My dream would be a JoyCon that worked in the FlipGrip and had a little digital stick (in place of the analogue stick) like the NEOGEO Pocket Color had.

Re: Switch Pre-Orders Are Now Live For Cloudpunk, A Futuristic Open World Adventure

BionicDodo

This one looks interesting. I do often wonder though why NLife always seems to refer to Steam reviews for games already out on PC, but never to professional reviews.

If anyone is interested, this game has a Metacritic score of 73 from 38 PC reviews. Reviews range from 5/10 to 9/10. Sounds like some people really like it and others find it slow and boring. If you like the cyberpunk setting and enjoy a game where the focus is more on the atmosphere and characters than the actual gameplay, then it might be right up your street.

Re: Review: Warsaw - A Brutal Experience Which Proves War Is Hell

BionicDodo

I'm not good enough at games to try really hard ones, and I don't have the time anymore to keep trying over and over and over until I eventually succeed, but there are literally thousands of games out these days that aren't really hard so I don't know why some people get upset that there are a subset of games aimed at players who want incredible challenge (or are just better at games than you and need tough ones to offer any challenge).

It reminds me of a friend of mine who only ever ordered this really sweet korma from his local Indian takeaway. He said to me "I don't understand why you would want to eat that (some medium/hot curry), why would you enjoy having your mouth burnt?!". I did my best to explain to him that maybe it doesn't burn my mouth like it does his as different people have different tastes. There are enough varieties of curry for everyone!

Re: Review: CastleStorm II - A Legitimately Great Game Hobbled By Poor Execution

BionicDodo

@Twinsen Not sure if you realise, but this isn't a port of CastleStorm, it is the brand new sequel, CastleStorm II.

Dungeon Defenders: Awakening also isn't a 'random port' of an old game, it is the third game in that series and it may even be coming to Switch before PS4 and Xbone. Reviews of the PC version have been mixed so far though, so maybe keep your expectations in check on that one too.

Re: First Impressions: Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit

BionicDodo

@Damo Yeah that makes sense. Still seems odd to launch it during a global pandemic when multiplayer will often rely on meeting up with friends. MK has always been about multiplayer and that being limited to homes with two Switches, £180 to spend on cars and enough suitable floor space to play on seems well, limiting. I'll still get one, but I doubt I'll see any multiplayer action until next year.

Re: First Impressions: Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit

BionicDodo

@Damo Hmm, that's seems rather short sighted by Nintendo. I can't see why the game wouldn't work in split screen mode and that would have allowed families with a single Switch to buy two cars to play two player. I'd have thought this will surely have quite a limited scope for multiplayer during the pandemic.

Re: First Impressions: Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit

BionicDodo

Have they confirmed anywhere whether this will/won't work in split screen (or did I miss that in the article)? As in everyone is complaining that they'd need to buy another switch in order to play two player, but if it can be played on the TV I can't see why it couldn't be played two player on the TV.

I'd have thought this would be a hit with students in halls where they could all bring their own Switches and cars and setup big tracks in their student accommodation. Except for the whole pandemic thing...

Re: Poll: Did You Know That Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit Supports Up To Four Players?

BionicDodo

I will pick up one of these as it looks like it will be a laugh. It's £89 at ShopTo and that doesn't feel like the worst value given the fact that you get a wifi controlled kart with HD camera and low latency streaming tech built in. Wish Yoshi was available though.

I see four player here being most likely to happen where people take their Switch and kart round to someone else's house. Worldwide it may not have therefore been the best time to launch this game...

Re: Microsoft Has Just Bought Bethesda, Giving It Doom, Fallout, Elder Scrolls And Wolfenstein

BionicDodo

When Microsoft bought Obsidian they still released all announced games on other platforms, so I wouldn't worry about Doom Eternal on Switch.

I hope the good relationship between Microsoft and Nintendo continues though. I think the way Microsoft sees it, Nintendo aren't exactly a direct competitor and they'd rather people bought an Xbox and a Switch than an Xbox and a PlayStation. They're also happy to sell their games to the Nintendo only crowd who will only ever buy Nintendo platforms.

Re: Ys Origin Pre-Orders Go Live On Switch With A Tasty 20% Discount

BionicDodo

@NintendoByNature @Ralizah It is being given a standard physical release in Europe. Currently available to pre-order for £23.99 from 365Games in the UK.

Ys IX is also up for pre-order physically in the UK. The Game Collection have that for £39.95.

Edit: Oops, it was @Bobb I meant to tag here, not NintendoByNature.

Re: Online Retailer Cancels Orders For Super Mario 3D All-Stars Due To "Woefully Short" Supply

BionicDodo

Yep, I got this email too. Annoyingly, Simply Games were charging the same price when I pre-ordered from Base, but they've put their price up £5 now.

Edit: As lots of people here are suggesting that Base is some no name retailer that shouldn't be taken seriously, I'd like to say that I buy almost all of my physical games from them and they have never let me down before. They always have much better prices than Game and Amazon and have provided me with plenty of Nintendo's first party titles without issues before. Just because you don't shop around for the best prices online, doesn't mean sites you haven't heard of aren't trustworthy.
