@liljmoore I can only speak for the UK, but I signed up for a free stock notification website last year (purely out of curiosity) and have had multiple opportunities to get both the PS5 and Series X since then. If you use a site like stockinformer.co.uk (or an equivalent site in your country) and have a little patience, then you should be able to get one within a few weeks.

Cracking article. A really good read. I read about the Sorcerian port when I was reading about the game on Hardcore Gaming 101 (I think). There are a fair few old 80s Japanese games that only ever got remade/remastered for Japanese phones.

I wish a fan would create a performance patch for it, because Sonic runs like he's in treacle on my PC, despite much more technically impressive games running fine.

Didn't Horizon Zero Dawn come out a week before Breath of the Wild, sporting big open green expanses, tall rocky outcrops and giant bio-mechanical beasts like this? That's the first game I thought of when I saw the trailer.

@Chris77 I don't think getting one is an issue, I think it's just about when you get it. The pre-order email stated that there won't be a limit on the total number of pre-orders, but some people will be waiting until 2023 to receive their units.

@Damo Do you know if the crazy high taxes on games console imports to the UK from the USA are still a thing?

While re-releases of games that are hard to find is a good thing, I have always struggled to get excited about releases with box art that doesn't feature the original console name and logo. If it doesn't look like a legit original release to me then I feel like I'm just buying an expensive bootleg. I feel the same about all the natty coloured clear SNES cartridges too. I'd personally prefer something that looked like the original.

@scully1888 Analogue Pocket pre-orders reopen next week (14th December 2021). Do you know if this situation with astronomical taxes is still the case in the UK?

I want a JoyCon with the little digital stick from the NEOGEO Pocket Color, but I want it in the position of the analogue stick. I'm guessing they're not going to be able to do that! I'd buy that controller whatever colour it was.

@Longondo I've been praying for a Bubble Bobble, Rainbow Islands, Parasol Stars, Bubble Symphony and Bubble Memories collection to be released on Switch.

Looks like a great controller, with some nice extra features, but I wouldn't want it with the buttons, sticks, d-pad and body all the same white colour.

I played through Beneath a Steel Sky recently as its free on PC. Good fun. Will check this one out too at some point, although probably on PC.

I loved pointing and clicking back in the day. Secret of Monkey Island, Monkey Island 2, Day of the Tentacle, Sam & Max Hit the Road, Simon the Sorcerer, Broken Sword, Discworld (although the puzzles in that one drove me mad), Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis... Even enjoyed Normality, an early attempt at moving the genre into 3D. Good times.

As a massive Wonder Boy, and therefore Westone, fan I will be buying this ASAP.

Really enjoyed this game. Absolutely nailed the look and feel they were going for.

Given the fact that you can get an 8bitdo M30 wireless Switch controller for £21, I really can't see how they justify charging £40 for these.

This is nice and all, but I really want a Bubble Bobble Switch collection. Bubble Bobble, Rainbow Islands, Parasol Stars, Bubble Symphony, Bubble Memories and at least a few Puzzle Bobble games please. Pretty please?.

I will echo the others who have said that leaving out Championship Edition DX+ is a real shame. I love that game and was hugely disappointed by the follow up CE 2.

I've never played a single Pokemon game but feel like it might be nice to play one through with my little boy. Big screen would make that easier than a handheld, but none of the big screen ones seem to be too popular. I can't stand the visual style of this one, so it's a definite no. Anyone got an opinion on where to start?

@Murkyelm I was attempting to make a joke as under almost every review one of the first comments says 'Will wait for a sale' and I thought it would be funny given the fact that this game costs 89p full price. Hence the winking emoji.

@Jeff2sayshi Makes sense. I don't use any of these sites to actually find games, just to create a wishlist of games I know I want and then get email updates when they go on sale. So PSPrices does everything I need and covers all the different consoles I have.

I've used PSPrices for years (for all systems). I combine that with eshop-prices.com to find which region has the game cheapest.

To be expected but some sad cuts from Wildstyle. And Vice City without Video Killed the Radio Star feels wrong. I remember playing for hours and hours one night (just messing around in the city, not doing actual missions) and eventually falling asleep and waking up to find Tommy just standing in that lobby with Video Killed the Radio Star playing.

I love a retro arcade game, and love all things Namco, but this one is not easy on the eye! I find the colours really off putting. That shooter is no looker either. I'm also rarely a fan of shmups with massive player ships/characters, so not sure it's one for me. Might end up trying Libble Rabble one day though because...well it's Namco, isn't it?

SteamWorld Dig 2 is also free for 24 hours on PC from GOG and Steam.

Edit: I should clarify this means that it is free to keep forever but there is only a 24 hour window to claim it.

Tetris and Pac-Man are pretty perfect games. They are just as playable today as the day they were released.

@Clyde_Radcliffe Sonic Colours has been patched since release. The Switch version got a patch to stop the major freak out that was causing seizure concerns, don't know what other issues it may, or may not, have. I've got it for PS4 Pro and it runs really well and I haven't noticed any issues so far. It's definitely better than Forces.

Can you play DOOM on it yet?

@TimGibsonPBS It's frustrating to think that the completed Switch versions might be sitting somewhere on a shelf, but I understand the reasoning.

@TimGibsonPBS I wonder if the rumours of a Prime Trilogy Switch release were true but that it got delayed as they wanted it to whet the appetite before Prime 4 and so didn't want it to launch too long before it.

I'm sitting next to a GameCube as I type this and I still think that looks like some kind of kitchen appliance.

Love this game. Used to stare at the box in John Lewis when I was a kid, so intrigued by what the game must be like. Eventually got it years later in the glory days when no one cared about anything 'retro' and older games/consoles were dirt cheap. Man, I wish I could go back to that time and buy everything.

I think many people fundamentally misunderstand the purpose of the cons list in these reviews. They don't necessarily all apply to every player, the list includes things that the reviewer thinks might put some players off. You can read the list and decide for yourself whether you think they would bother you or not. If they don't then bully for you, go play the game.

About 18 years ago I listed a (terrible) piece of digital art for sale on eBay for a laugh, the joke being that you could just right click and copy it from the image in the listing. It made me chuckle as it was such a daft idea. Now NFTs are a thing...

My first experiences of Sonic were Sonic 1 and 2 on the Master System. Absolutely loved them both. I then got a Mega Drive and the original Sonic at the same time a good friend got Sonic Chaos for the Master System. So three of the first four Sonic games I played were 8-bit. I still enjoy all of the different 2D incarnations of Sonic that I own.

I've got an IKEA Sigfinn phone stand that cost about £4 and works perfectly for holding the switch up in TATE mode. I never really use it though as I much prefer playing handheld with the FlipGrip, but I guess it would be a decent solution for an OLED model until they tweak the FlipGrip.

This game is indeed fabulous, but I'm going to join the others saying that it already found its ideal platform with VR. It's mind blowing.

Wasn't there a version of this on PC Engine? It feels familiar.

@BenAV I've been hoping they'll design a new FlipGrip that carries the connections from the rails out to the sides so that controllers without battery and wireless (like the Hori d-pad JoyCon) could work with it. Maybe this new issue will inspire them to make an updated model (although they probably still wouldn't go to the expense of wiring the sides up).
