@Kirk I'm not trying to antagonise you, friend. You are doing that to yourself. I think you need to calm down. You are seeing battlefields and enemies where there're none.
@sillygostly That would betray the point of the system in my opinion. This is not a new console from Nintendo. It is just a collection of greatest hits from the NES that comes packaged in an extremely cute box. If someone want to play the classics without expending a lot of money on a proper console and then buying individual games separately, they can just get this Best Of "album" for $60 and play right away. That's all that it is. I really don't see the point on including cartridges on this thing or trying to over complicate the whole thing. There are apparently a lot of people (Or a very vocal group) that does care about this stuff, but I certainly don't see it.
@memoryman3 Because the game is not ready and it will has little sense to release it on an old console while a new one is only a couple of months away.
@AndyWARbear He's probably referring to hardcore PS4 fans. Those that love their shooters and ultra hd graphics. I think is ok if Nintendo stop caring for those and make fun games for people who enjoy gameplay over graphics.
Breath of the Wild is coming to NX, so we can be sure console will be at least as powerfull as the Wii U. And I'll say it's very unlikely that Nintendo would release a new console without improving a least a bit the power of the previous one, I think it's a given that NX will have more power than Wii U.
Regarding PS4 and XBone, I think we are beyond that discussion now. We can all agree that Nintendo is not interested in competing with them. And it does not have to be interested. Their strength is in innovation.
What happened to Aounuma-san can be applied to all of us. When reviewing a game, remember to comment the things you liked, not just what you didn't. That will help the developer and will probably guarantees you a better game.
Great article! I see this as the equivalent to a "best of" compilation album, sure there're songs left behind, but what we have is a collection that represent the history of that artist. Having a mini NES in my living room will be a good way to revisit some of the games of my childhood and to share that experience with friend and family. For that price, I think it is a good deal. It would have been cool if we could access a dedicated virtual console to add more games to the collection, but maybe that would betray the point of the system.
@Kirk Fair enough. I wasn't talking about emulation on PC, though. Only non official emulation vs virtual console releases both running on a 3DS. Nevertheless, I see your point.
@Kirk I think we can agree that Nintendo does not approve unofficial emulation. Plus it is illegal. So releasing an official console even as an alternative, makes sense. I've used emulators before, even in my 3DS and I must say the quality difference between a no official emulated game and one from the virtual console is pretty significant. So for quality only, this is worth. Add to that the nostalgia factor and collectors appeal and you have a seller idea.
It is worth mentioning that the lawsuit filed by Universal in relation to Donkey Kong probably led to the naming of another major Nintendo franchise: Kirby. It is safe to say that the influence of this first game extends throughout Nintendo's history.
I'm happy for my European fellows. But man, now we know who ruined Mighty No. 9 marketing. That mail sounds exactly like the narrator on Mighty No. 9 infamous trailer.
@Snow-Dust Fair enough. But I'm not commenting on the game's quality. I'm just saying I can understands Miyamoto's thinking. And that it must be hard to have your game bashed for a control idea that you had. Contrary to what most gamers think, making a game is hard and every developer want to make a good game. Sometimes they succeed and sometimes not. It is not a matter of not caring about their fans as some here are suggesting. That is all I'm saying.
@Snow-Dust I can respect that. Really wish I could give a meaningful opinion about the game's quality. Maybe what I'm saying not apply to every person that didn't like the game, you seem to have an reasoned opinion on why you didn't like it, but it's something that happens often with a lot of games.
@HappyMaskedGuy Relax. Can't comment on the game's quality because I haven't played, but judging by the reviews, it is a good game. Things that you listed can be things that you don't like, but other people seem to think differently. Can you deal with other peoples opinions?
I can understand what Miyamoto said. It must be hard when you spend time designing a particular game experience and players dismiss it because it is something different from what they are accustomed. Not many people are willing to try new things and to respect the creative decisions of the creator. And that's sad.
@SavageGM I don't work for Nintendo Life and I also find this offers pretty decent. They could be better and they don't include the games I'm looking for this time, but last time they did. I got Super Mario Land 2 (A game I was eagerly looking to play) for free after buying MegaMan legacy collection at a sale. So there's that.
4 or 5 people on NintendoLife comments sections are not "most people" I get some are mad, but "the majority" I don't think so.
Remember this is a bonus. Not Nintendo's obligation. If you have everything in here that's fine. Other people don't. And this are offers for everyone.
Apart from that, as the articles says, MyNintendo is a baby system. You can't really make a fair comparison with Club Nintendo or other companies systems. Let it be, let it grow. I suspect we will be seeing more and more discounts as the days of Wii U and 3DS comes to an end. There are other mobiles games coming and the NX, so you will have more ways to spend your hard earned gold coin. Chill out.
Drampa looks great. All the designs have a strong japanese feel, but that one more than the rest. I think it is great they are embracing their culture.
@belmont Because I do not think that's true. It is a typical prejudice towards nintendo consoles. I think a big part of Nintendo audience consists of fans of the classics. People who grew up with these franchises and loves classics gameplay. To say that the vita audience is older is a light statement. Most young people today prefer shooters, open world games and tend to care more for graphic power. All things they do not find in nintendo. So I'm inclined to think that the audience is actually younger in the vita.
I can see a new female character that you could choose as your hero at the start, but not a female version of Link. Seeing we already got Linkle, I will make her the female hero. That way you don't need to change the gender of an iconic character like Link. You can just have both.
@Billsama By all means enquire about other users' motivations etc. but if your post only targets another user negatively, and contributes nothing to the main conversation, then it goes down as a flame, which we would rather avoid, thanks.
Coincidentally, I just finished it today on my 3DS. Such a good game. Personally I find it very satisfying it was easier than the typical Zelda. You can just enjoy the ride.
@Zoda_Fett You don't have to trust me, friend. Any good developer will tell you the same. Games with on screen buttons tend to give a lesser user experience. Of course you'll find exceptions, but the general rule is that.
@Zoda_Fett Sorry to break the bubble but I don't think many fans will like a port. It is common knowledge that button based games don't translate well to mobile. Then again, a full pokemon experience with gameplay built for a touch screen. That will be something.

@SavageGM Are you quoting me for a comment I made months ago? People take this comment section waaay too serious.
Still don't see how this news detracts from my comment

Re: Sources Indicate That the Nintendo NX Will Feature a Social 'Share' Button
@Kirk I don't know, sarcasm is usually preceded by an absurd or unintentionally funny comment.
By the way, are you now insulting others for having a different opinion? Be civil
Re: Sources Indicate That the Nintendo NX Will Feature a Social 'Share' Button
@Kirk That will be definitely awesome. I would only add that it should also cure cancer and make coffee.

If the NX sells well, you'll see Bethesda stop being so pretentious and making a game for the system despite the specs.
