Re: Tatsumi Kimishima Responds to Criticism Over the Switch Launch Line-Up

Billsama

@impurekind Meh, I don't know. They can't make everybody happy I suppose. I skipped Wii U by the way. And only have a wii for a couple of months to play Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword. Then I sold it and got a 3DS. I'm not rich and I don't buy everything Nintendo sells. So I don't know if I qualify to enter in what you call "people like you" Then again, the point I'm trying to make is: "You don't have to be a fanboy to disagree with what you are saying" There are more than just 2 kind of people and more than 2 opinions. My intention with this comments is not to make you change your mind, it is to let an opinion here to anybody else to see. Your is an usual complaint and a questionable one. People need to realize that if they are more interested in big AAA titles, maybe they are barking at the wrong tree. Maybe it would be a better idea to put their money and time elsewhere.

@impurekind You can choose to believe in your point and if you are basing your opinion only in your preference, then there's no way to prove you wrong. The thing is, for the rest of the world, your opinion don't apply in this case.

The Wii was a massive success, that's not an opinion, that is fact. It didn't need AAA western titles to do that. It got some, but few people cared about them.

I see someone mentioned before that: "A PC and a Nintendo console is the perfect combination for any gamer" And I find that brilliant. I don't understand why people complaint because they can't currently play Battlefield or The Witcher on a Nintendo console. If I wanted to play those games I'll buy a console that have them. I think people that constantly complaint about this issue should think a bit about their preference in games, maybe they are putting their time on a place and a company that is bringing them more wrongs than goods. That is not healthy.

@gatorboi352 Nintendo fans doesn't whine and complain that 3rd parties don't bring their titles over to Nintendo consoles. There is a small group of people that does. I wouldn't call then Nintendo fans, in fact, I'm still trying to understand their logic, apart from the fact that they seems to enjoy complaining about things.

Re: Tatsumi Kimishima Responds to Criticism Over the Switch Launch Line-Up

Billsama

@gatorboi352 I reckon your opinion doesn't represent the thinking of the "western audience" as a whole. Only represent your opinion. It has been well documented that people don't buy Nintendo consoles to play third party titles. So a steady launch of Nintendo games every month is a good idea. As Mitch already said it, complemented with some third party and eshop releases.

Re: Video: Here's The Switch Touchscreen That Nintendo Apparently Doesn't Want You To Know About

Billsama

If they are choosing to ignore the touch screen on promotional material because they want to simplify the message I think it's smart. Too many features to throw them all at once. If something we can count on is the impossibility of regular audience to understand new concepts. Especially online.

I'm guessing they will focus on the touch screen at a later stage. Maybe when a touch based game is announced.

Re: Talking Point: Is the Nintendo Switch a Handheld or Console? Does it Matter?

Billsama

I think the Switch is what you want it to be. That's the good part of it. You have so many configurations to use it, you just have to choose the one that is right for you at the moment. I haven't owned a home console since the wii. Playing mostly on 3DS since then. But I'm quite excited to get back to home gaming especially with a console that I can also take with me on the go.

I can see Nintendo releasing a less expensive portable only version of Switch later on. I don't see the point on releasing a different portable device to replace 3DS unless Switch happens to undersell (Which I doubt). Then again, a portable virtual console machine similar to the NES Mini, will be smart.

Re: DFC Intelligence Believes Nintendo Switch Can Shift 40 Million Units by 2020

Billsama

@Rman12 I can respect that, its a personal decision. I hope you change your mind eventually. Maybe when the system is out. I personally don't see point of comparison between Wii U and Switch. For me it is a huge step forward. In graphics or performance? Maybe not, but almost in every other way: Portability, improved development enviroment, revamp online system (Hopefully), lot of way to play, unification of console and handheld divisions (And franchises), return and improvement of motion control, you name it. Huge step forward, especially if you compare it with 3DS. Nevertheless you have a valid point and is interesting to see that the new system is not for everyone.

Re: Soapbox: It's Nintendo's Job To Make Switch A Success, Not EA's, Ubisoft's Or Capcom's

Billsama

It is always funny to find the typical comment: "Nintendo NEEDS third party support if they want the Switch to be a hit"

When in reality is the other way around. Switch needs to be a success in order to receive some third party support. As @Damo say, if the audience is there, developers will find a way to put their games on the system. The old "System is not powerful enough for AAA titles" is a misinformed argument. Studios will put their games on any system that sells and have a big enough audience. If they don't have the man power to do it themselves, they will hire someone else to do the job. It is more of an economic matters than a technical one. You want third party titles? Buy a Switch, enjoy the system. Then all the uninspired, lazy, poor executed but popular Sports and FPS games that people love so much will be there asap.

Re: Preview: Feeling Warm and Fuzzy With Poochy & Yoshi's Woolly World

Billsama

I want to play this, but right now I'm on saving mode for Switch. Nevertheless it looks like a good package with some nice extras. Didn't expected the animated shorts to be included in the game. That's a plus. Anyway, hope people enjoy this one. Here's hoping for some fun platformers like this on the new console.

Re: Talking Point: Considering the Paid Online Service for the Nintendo Switch

Billsama

@LegendOfPokemon I see one advantage, but this is merely an opinion based on my taste. Nintendo games worth more, period. Nor Microsoft nor Sony have the level of classic quality games that Nintendo have.
We can't expect Nintendo to just give away their decades old lineup of classic games just because. This are games that started entire genres and franchises, no any random game you can find around.

On the other hand we know how Nintendo have been doing things in the past. They sell their classic games again and again. It is not surprising that they pretend to charge for them once more. At least now we can try the games for a whole month before deciding to buying it. I have my 3DS full of classic games that I played and finished in less than a month and then never try them again. For me personally, having one classic game a month, means I can probably finish Super Mario World or Earthbound without buying it and then replace it with another game next month. That's brilliant. And well it is called Game Rental for a reason.
