Re: Talking Point: Nintendo Has No Set Formula for Hardware Reveals, But NX is Testing Fans' Patience

@3MonthBeef Yeah well. Your opinion is as valid as everyone else. It is still an opinion, though. I'm well awared of how this thing work. Obviously sites needs traffic and right now talking about NX generates just that. But what I think you are failing to see is that maybe this whole rumors storm is planned or at least allowed by Nintendo. This whole thing is positive for them because it is generating an amount of hype that I think is unprecedented. A lot of people excited about a console that nobody even know what it is? Yeah I think that is good marketing. I'm not sure that this news and rumors are just a product of the evil media. I think there's an honest excitement about the console and that there is a possibility that those semi official comments from game developers are planned by Nintendo to generate hype building momentum to the reveal. But who knows? Opinions, right?
No matter how many times journalists ask this guys about the NX, they always have the options to say "No comment" But suddenly, some are choosing to comment.

A few weeks ago it looked like the reveal was close. Those comments from Ubisoft and The Pokemon Company, but then it went cold again. I'm still hoping for some information this month, but I think we probably won't get any official info about it until next year. The rest of 2016 is pretty much covered by the 2 Marios, Pokemon y NES Mini. There's too much stuff coming up the next months to also throw in an NX announcement. I really hope I'm wrong but again I think we won't heard an official reveal until the new year.

Re: Poll: What Are Your Most Anticipated Wii U and 3DS Games For the Rest of 2016?

Billsama

A list of 30 games is just about right for me. I don't see how I can make time to play more than 2 games per month. So with Pokemon coming in november along with the NES Mini I will have plenty to do the last 2 month. I'll probably get Shantae on steam. Gurumin got my attention. Mario Marker is a must, since I don't have a wii U and that would have to do until the NX. I still have Gotta Protector, Luigi's Mansion 2 and A Link Between World on the wishlist in case I run out of games.

@CanisWolfred "And for the record, the difference between a "derivative clone" and an "inspired homage" is not the intent, but how the audience interprets it. If you really are a developer, then I highly recommend keeping this in mind."

I respect that as your opinion, but I wouldn't be so absolutist. While the audience interpretation is important, it is up to the developer to correctly convey its intention.

I think I haven't been able to explain my whole point here. But what I'm trying to say is that we can't take something like Braid and Super Jump World and say that both are Super Mario clones. There's a different in those two games. Maybe is just semantics, but for me is important to make the different clear.

@ECMIM I'm not talking about that. It seems to me that you are a bit predisposed, which is understandable since this comment section is normally fill with trolls. I usually feel insulted when someone call me ridiculous, that is what I'm talking about. But if that wasn't your intention then is fine. If you find the "clone" vs "inspired by" war ridiculous that is your opinion. I as a developer find it very important. That's why I felt the need to clarify the term. No big deal, try to relax a bit.

Re: Turns Out There's No Such Thing As Too Many Wonder Boy Games

Billsama

@ECMIM It's always funny how one can not mention someone on this site without risking to get an insult. Internet I guess, people feel brave behind a screen.

I'm not assuming you said WayForward are thieves or that their games are bad. I'm just clarifying the term because people usually use the word "clone" lightly.

Re: Random: Nintendo Censors Canadian Interview For Daring To Mention NX

Billsama

@SanderEvers With the new slogan Nintendo is using: "There's no play like it" that has Y X A B buttons configuration you can assume they are not abandoning the console business anytime soon. Which is great. Mobile can be very popular at the moment but there's nothing like playing with a controller scheme. That is something you can't have with just a touch screen. I think it is pretty safe to assume we will be seeing new nintendo consoles for a while regarding their ventures to mobile gaming.

Re: Nintendo Appears at Apple Conference to Announce Super Mario Run

Billsama

The footages looks fun. And it is obviously a way to put Mario in the hands of more casual gamers. Broader audience. Brand awareness and that ultimately is good news. Nintendo have been in the news for most of the year. Everytime you see Mario in a non game related website is good news for the console business. And if apart from Mario you see the Nintendo logo, that's great news. And that's exactly what it's happening now, with Pokemon Go and now this game. Two very recognizable Nintendo's IP in the news everywhere, outside dedicated gaming sites.

Re: The Xbox One Might Be Getting A NES Emulator

Billsama

People come up with very silly arguments when it comes to justify their desire to see Nintendo games on other consoles. It must be very difficult to live with that conflict. Knowing that Nintendo makes better games and not wanting to support them as a company.

Re: Feature: Exploring the Licensed Content in RCMADIAX Games on the Wii U and New 3DS eShop

Billsama

I sell assets in the Scirra Store and distribute my games through GameJolt and itch.io. Unfortunately Nintendo has certain limitations to sell in the eShop, depending on the country where you live. If were not for that, I would have several of my titles there. It seems almost unfair to see that other developers can just buy a game or assets made by someone else and sell it in the eShop without too much effort.

Re: Nintendo of America Issues Takedown Request on AM2R, Ending the Project

Billsama

@PigmaskFan I believe it is still illegal, even if the game was free.
Don't get me wrong, I know it sucks. I would love a new metroid game and this one is very well made, but it's still wrong to use assets from someone else. If I were Milton I will take the same engine and make a new game with original graphics and original story and sell it to the eshop. That would be great. Something like Thomas Happ did with Axiom Verge.
