With the current mania around Pokémon GO, there's no doubting that Pocket Monsters are hot property right now. The good news for European fans of more traditional 'mon experiences is that they will soon be able to grab the original classics at a discount.
Nintendo of Europe has confirmed that, between 14th - 28th July, there'll be 30% off the generation 1 Pokémon titles on the 3DS Virtual Console. Normally priced €9.99 / £8.99, Pokémon Red, Pokémon Blue and Pokémon Yellow Version: Special Pikachu Edition will be reduced to €6.99 / £6.30 each.
Are any of you European gamers tempted by this upcoming discount? Let us know in the comments.

Come on, man! I just bought Pokémon Blue 3 days ago..
Just my luck :/
Hmm... not bad. I was planning on getting them anyway, but I suppose I could get them sooner than I was intending.
@dennisforss I've been there, sorry to hear that
@dennisforss You're not alone, it happened to me with Shovel Knight and Shantae.
Didn't expect them to go on sale so soon. I got Blue when they came out (nostalia), but kinda wanted Yellow for the colour. Not sure if there's much point in getting more than 1 on the same console, though...
Now if they were really smart, they'd advertise these discounts when you boot up Pokemon Go.
@ThomasBW84
The games are rather cheap overall though so it could've been worse
Bring on Gold/Silver/Crystal, Nintendo!
Ooo, I might look into this, it looks nice with it just being over a fiver.
Considering the connectivity to Sun/Moon, I'm tempted.
I hope the states get this deal. I'd like to purchase it one of them, but have been holding off.
And to think I considered getting Yellow not even a full hour ago. Nice.
Time to pick one up! I will go for Yellow.
I've been meaning to pick up Yellow for a while, but I didn't quite have enough left in my account. I have a horrible feeling I'm still going to be a few pence short.
I was hesitant to pick up either of the Gen 1 games because of their price... but now I have to! Pokémon Yellow it is! ^~^ if they ever put Crystal on VC it would be an instant buy for me.
Is this to make up for Pokemon being a no GO here?
I think that €10 is overpriced, but this is pretty reasonable. May actually get them now
And still ridiculously expensive.
@Jammy01 More to cash in on how Go is trending massively. Don't be surprised if when we get Go, there's the odd pop up with "Hey, Pokemon RBY is 30% off on the eShop, BUY A 3DS ALREADY!" XD
Hopefully North America will get a discount soon!?!? I mean the Pokemon GO phenomenon is taking its course lol
@ekreig I know. It's just slightly irritating when you could've gotten it for less money if you would've waited a few days, you know
still way too overpriced. other gb games on the eshop are cost much less.
yes i know this has updated multiplayer bla bla bla
Lol: To celebrate Go?
Tempting, especially with all the Pokemon chatting going around lately, but 30% is not enough for surely "catch" my money Nintendo >.>
Dear Lord, I've read this as "discontinued" at first. XD No one but myself to blame, though.
I planned to grab Blue in autumn, but it looks like now might be a better opportunity after all.
I'm tempted.
But I'm an idiot who can't resist eshop sales even though I have a massive backlog of unplayed games.
It's tempting, but I've already played the originals before, so the VC ones probably aren't worth it for me.
And yet another reason for me to like NoE, and dislike NoA. sigh Seems like Europe gets all the decent sales.
@dennisforss
I can sympathise, I bought Yellow a week ago. :/
This should have been the price to start with. They're ridiculously overpriced.
@Snargledon I feel you, bro :/
