@FarkyValentine I enjoyed it. It doesn't "overdo" anything like many JRPGs do. Combat is fairly deep without being convoluted, art style looks good, the world isn't too big or cramped, none of the dungeons overstay their welcome. Though nothing about it individually really stands out, the pacing is excellent. It's among the best JRPG games on the platform IMO.
Solid demo, will buy day one. Could use some minimap improvements, maybe make it easier to understand gear comparisons or adjust how "out of bounds" is handled, but I'm really looking forward to this.
@KingdomHeartsFan mature people just report without announcing it. The announcement part is really quite unnecessary. Could be referred to as baiting, actually.
@KingdomHeartsFan yes, you're whining, and I respect where earned. You've earned none.
As I said, most of the consumer base (15-20 Switch players per Wii U player if I had to make a guess), would prefer Nintendo work on Switch content. This isn't what the company wants, it's what consumers want.
When you buy a game, there are no promises of further content releases for that game 4 years down the road. People did not buy Wii U Captain Toad expecting the DLC that came out this week. If you enjoyed the game as advertised when you bought it, you got your money's worth.
The Wii U came out 6.5 years ago, and despite its lack of success, Nintendo supported it quite well for 5. But the new thing is out, now, and has been for a while. Like every console generation, the Wii U's days are behind it.
@KingdomHeartsFan so what you're doing is whining toward no end.
I'm not arguing for the company. I'm arguing for common sense.
It makes zero sense to offer meaningful support beyond major technical issues. It takes time away from actually moving forward and supplying the much larger and more recent Switch install base with games and content. It doesn't make sense to most consumers to release content on the Wii U. The extreme vast majority want Switch stuff. It was obviously clear the Wii U was on its last legs 2.5 years ago when the Switch was announced, nevermind now.
@KingdomHeartsFan nobody is saying it should be all about the company, but this really is common sense. Sales on 3DS have plummeted since the Switch release as well despite that actually being a successful system with continued support. This proves your argument holds no water.
Should I be upset that the Wii store channel was shut down?
Should I be upset that there haven't been any GameCube game releases in 12 years?
@KingdomHeartsFan I understand that you don't understand business decisions, and I understand it taking "minimal effort" to put these games' DLC on multiple platforms is a disingenuous statement.
There are very, very few people buying anything on Wii U now. I can't imagine choosing to optimize this DLC for Wii U would be a worthwhile time or financial investment. It's also probably much more complicated than you think.
@Medic_alert most games I play load faster on Switch, but again, portability is more than half of it, so I'm not "paying for nothing". Though truth is I'm actually paying nothing because the "switch tax" has largely disappeared.
@TheFongz he had major roles in the following, ranging from story, systems design and directing:
Resident Evil 1, 2 and 0 Devil May Cry Viewtiful Joe 1, 2, Double Trouble The Wonderful 101 Okami Bayonetta 1, 2 and 3
Needless to say, he has incredible vision for video game design. Pretty much every project he's been a part of has been critically acclaimed, and there are few in the industry as respected as him.
Story and voice work is cool so far. Character and mech visual customization is great. Gameplay is smooth, never cumbersome like mech games often are. The boss battle gives a lot of hope for some truly epic co-op battles.
@Retupmocnin seeing that Japan is an almost 100% homogenous society and the extreme majority of Nintendo employees are based in Japan, not very many. That said, NoA and Treehouse seem pretty diverse.
On one hand, "best person for the job" is great, but sometimes a "diversity hire" can have value simply based on that fact alone, so situations like this can be avoided: https://youtu.be/8Eo9Xdrvf-E
Links to previous generation articles aren't accurate.
Gen1 goes to 2 2 to 3 3 to 4 4 to 5 5 to 6 6 also to 6
Gen 7 was the worst of all 7 due to excessive cutscenes and too much focus on people instead of you and your partners. Having 400 pokemon available before post game is too many, black and white felt right with their 200.
That said, the Tapus are some of the cooler legendaries, an early companion becoming the cover pokemon was cool, and Primarina is among my favourite pokemon ever.
From Blizzard, which was always completely independent of Bungie: Overwatch - likely Warcraft RTS or WoW - will never happen Starcraft - will never happen Hearthstone - very likely Diablo 4 - very likely Diablo Immortal - maybe New projects - likely
From Activision - no changes. From Bungie - no changes.
"Switch’s uncluttered UI, speedy menus and focus on games were refreshing back at launch, but after nearly two years it’s beginning to feel a little sparse." It really isn't. Please stop asking for this, it will only slow things down.
"eShop Overhaul" is not necessary. Every suggestion I've heard is bad, Xbox, Steam and PS4 are all just as bad when it comes to "discoverability". It probably just can't be done effectively.
Every single athletic sport has significant random elements present between weather, bounces, injuries, officiating imperfections, broken equipment etc.
An unexpected event may result in a loss... or it may provide an opportunity for further skill.
@SalvorHardin that doesn't change what I said. Most stages with hazards off and "the cheapest items" off accomplishes that. No need for ALL items off and no need to stick to final destination.
@SalvorHardin I read an article in which other Nintendo employees stated this was part of his vision. The extremely high skill cap absolutely is Sakurai's intention, it's the "final destination, no items" bit in an effort to remove luck that isn't. Pros doing other things sometimes would make it much more interesting, kind of like how Nintendo online Pokemon tournaments have different rule sets each time.
@RadoGoji good to know then. Just thought Erdrick was always male due to all the other references in the other games implying male, and none of the ones I've played having an option. It would be strange, though, with how protective Square is of all of their content.
While there are a couple notable exceptions (Mario 64, Ocarina, Spyro), most early 3D games have aged like homemade bread. 16 bit games on the other hand have aged like a fine wine or whiskey. There's a reason one style is a continuing hit with indie developers and the other was left behind never to be seen again.
If you're trying to suggest PlayStation is even in the same ballpark as the SNES, you're doing so due to rose-coloured glasses exclusively.
@Yasume while I personally agree with you, there's a crowd of adult gamers who thinks everything should be unlocked to start in any game they purchase. "Why do I have to spend time unlocking content I already purchased??"
@MsJubilee one that is not at all necessary for the core experience. There is NOTHING in the game you need a Mew for. While it may not technically be a cosmetic item, it serves the same purpose. It always has.
Depending on your version of the game, there are a half dozen other pokemon you can't get and have to trade for. Capture a valuable shiny pokemon or something and trade for a Mew. THIS is a core part of the experience.
