Last August, the Japanese publication Famitsu revealed the first two entries in the tactical role-playing series Langrisser would be receiving remakes on the Nintendo Switch. The two in one deal was due to arrive in Japan on 7th February but has since been delayed until 18th April.
In place of the launch is now a demo. According to Gematsu, this demo - available from 7th February onwards - will include the first three stages of the original Langrisser. This will help players familiarise themselves with the game's world and story. In addition to this, the demo will include stages four to six of the second Langrisser release - allowing players to see a number of updated features.
The classic mode - a first-print bonus with the final release - will be featured in the demo and will allow players to swap between newly illustrated and retro artwork. This demo will also contain hidden content that will link to the final release of the game. If you're interested to try out this demo on 7th February, you'll need to have access to a Japanese eShop account. You can read more about the history of this series in our feature.
Are you hoping Langrisser I & II get localised? Will you be trying out the demo when it arrives? Tell us below.

Oh great, more Fire Emblem.Langrisser is original and one of a kind. This is totally not just a PR statement.I do hope they bring them over. No such hing as too many Fire Emblem style games!
Right @GyroZeppeli ?
"Are you hoping Langrisser I & II get localised?"
Do you need to ask? While both games are accessible through emulation, I've dropped my Warsong playthrough in wait for an enhanced version I can own. And I fully expect II remake to feature Der Langrisser's branching paths (of which I once did one on SNES before losing the saves).
Yes, Warsong is one of my favourite games on the Megadrive and I would absolutely love to play a remake
@Heavyarms55 I’ve never actually tried FE before. I’m setting my sights on Three Houses since FEH is pretty good. But yes, more FE/FE like stuff is better in every game (except for Smash, seriously, why no Hector or Takumi but there’s 3+ swordfighters as FE reps).
I immediately thought this was a Fire Emblem announcement as well.
Hell, I had to check to see which came first.
After playing the Disgaea 5 demo, which played quite similarly to Fire Emblem, I would much rather invest my time in FE instead. I only have one tactical RPG-shaped hole in my heart, and FE would do nicely. I also enjoyed Advance Wars: Dark Conflict, but being my first foray into the franchise, it proved much too difficult much too quickly. I would absolutely leap at a new instalment of Advance Wars though, should Nintendo dare to revisit.
Nice that we're getting a demo of it soon in the Japanese eShop. Now we can try it and see if it really improve from the two originals.
Someone has to bring this to the West. Surely.
Fingers crossed for a western release. Even digital only.
Would play if localized
I hope they do better then Fire Emblem. Fire Emblem might be charming, but there is no real level up place. You are forced to play the story and you have you to make choices. But no freedom to do free battles. That was a letdown for me. Latest games weren't much different. At least give us some space to level up as much we like. Let the player decide if they want a challenge or not. To me Fire Emblem is action game with RPG elements, but that's that
@GyroZeppeli ... I am just trying to understand how you know who Hector is if you have never played a real Fire Emblem.
I guess he IS in Heroes. But I assumed only people who played the GBA titles would care about him.
@Heavyarms55 Hector's popularity has skyrocketed because of Heroes. He's probably more popular now than any other male character in the series save for Ike.
Were the original games localized? If not, then I fear for the chances for the remakes to be sold elsewhere.
More "fire emblem" the better! Now I want it!
never played them but would love to if they get ported over!
I would be pretty stoked if this got released here, never played the originals but I love the genre so I would definitely be giving it a shot.
@Alucard83 not actually the case in all of the games, but sadly they hide the grinding levels behind paid dlc. A crappy move, but they are technically there.
rubs hands together in glee
With most of the quality roguelites being ported over to Switch in 2018, I got to explore that genre.
In 2019 I’m spoiled for choice with tactics games / srpgs.
Or, yes please!
PreOrdered the JPN version....now have to decide keep or not keep????
@GrailUK Pleeeeease. I loved Warsong
@Antraxx777 Me too!
