Super Rare Games has shared more information on the physical edition for Earthlock, one of five new releases revealed last month.
4,000 standard copies of the game - which we awarded a healthy 8/10 in our review - will be going on sale, with pre-orders going live on 16th May. In addition to the standard physical release, an extra 1,000 Collector's Edition units will be produced with some extra goodies included.
The standard edition will include a 20-page full-colour manual, interior artwork, exclusive sticker, and three trading cards randomly selected from a five-card set. The Collector's Edition will contain a 200-page artbook, two comics based on the video game, an exclusive CD soundtrack, and a complete set of trading cards.
You'll be able to get your hands on whichever deal takes your fancy from the 16th, directly from Super Rare Games' website. If you need a quick reminder about what the game's all about, hopefully this feature list will do the trick:
- Explore the magical world of Umbra
- Fast-paced and highly strategic turn-based battles
- Harvest magical materials to craft helpful items and perks on your home island
- Utilise your Talent Table: combining a classic skilltree and equipment to customise your character's progression
- Alternate between six playable characters
- Grow your friendships between different character pairs for a strategic advantage in combat
- Help the people of Umbra along they way to unlock more useful items
- 25-40 hours of gameplay

OMG...!!
(Hype Intensified)
Been considering this for a long time. Is it worth it? I probably wouldn't do the physical at the higher price... But a good digital sale has tempted me
No interest in the CE here, just the standard edition for me.
I held off getting it on PC for the Switch version (same as Battle Chasers) and was well worth it!!!!
Not sure about the LE. But as a digital game, best place for it is on Switch for sure.
So... The collectors edition has interior art but not the standard??
I want all RPG physical release to collect them, but won't happen. At least this one does
@B-Locks no interior art for standards? tell me srg are not that horrible
Would love the Collector's Edition. Especially the soundtrack cd. But I will not pay €122,- for such a miniscule game plus goodies.
@FarkyValentine I enjoyed it. It doesn't "overdo" anything like many JRPGs do. Combat is fairly deep without being convoluted, art style looks good, the world isn't too big or cramped, none of the dungeons overstay their welcome. Though nothing about it individually really stands out, the pacing is excellent. It's among the best JRPG games on the platform IMO.
I have it digitally already but I haven't gotten around to it. I probably do not need to pick this up physically but I'm so damn tempted.
This is one of the more lackluster JRPGs I've played. I wouldn't buy it physical.
Good, so there's a shot GameFly will get it so I can rent it. I'll keep watch. I'm not sold in the "PS1 era" selling point, but I respect how it's familiar but unique in its own right. Low on my to-play list, but I'd give it a go eventually.
I have the entire Super Rare Collection all 15 games, so when i heard they were going to do their first collectors editions ever i was ecstatic. Then i saw the $124 price tag! Wow that's a little to rich for my blood for what you get.(IMO)
I love EarthLink
Do they ship to the US?
How is this an JRPG when it's made in Norway?
@neppan
Snowcastle team made a game RPG with Japanese RPG style (Turn Based style) like FF X.
Also, there are some Japanese people got involved in making Earthlock.
I tried the demo when this was announced a few weeks back. I liked it, and the premium for physical isn’t too bad (not 3x digital like R-Type), so I’ll probably order one.
Collectors edition here we come
Who's we @Morrow you all better not have the same IP address or physical address because you can only get one.
@BacklogBlues Lol, I just assume that more people than just me want it. However the price for that collectors is a bit too high. 123$ for collectors, when the normal physical is 32$. There's too many other games coming out this month, that I can't spend that much on a collectors. Shame, they should have made it 60$ for the collectors, and I would have bought it.
You are correct @Morrow that more people than you want it, i want it. But i can't see much more than $79.99 for a special edition unless it comes with some really cool stuff. But i will be buying the regular physical game if i get to it in time.
£114 = AUD $212!!!!! No way I’m spending over $120 on a Collector’s Edition! They should bring it down to at most £80.
I kickstarted the game when it was going to be one of the rare RPGs on the Wii U (and they did release a version for the Wii U) playing it on Switch, the game kind of felt like it was the first act of a bigger story. Probably due to them having a bigger plot than they had time and resources for.
I feel like I will buy the sequel if it ever gets made. It is fun but keep in mind when you play it that it was an indie RPG made by some people with big dreams. In a lot of ways it feels like a really good looking PSone RPG. If you look at it that way then it can be really fun.
Also it has some combat mechanics/experience scaling stuff that was genuinely unique.
I like to buy all my game physical 🥰
But £114 for the collectors edition? Sorry but that is way too much for a cd and two comics.
Standard Edition only for me
@JaxonH Yes, they do, though if I remember correctly, it's fairly costly.
Those naysayers on price and it being CE are the ones that will scramble for it. For me if they put the CE as one of the three package that would work but now I'll buy the CE and then the other two upcoming separately. That's what I don't like. And if people don't read what part of "rare" don't you get. ESL is needed for some on here. And if you don't want the CE stop complaining like a child.
@SwitchForce People have the right to call it out, and if you think that's a reasonable price you need your head looked at.
@Enhasa "People have the right to call it out, and if you think that's a reasonable price you need your head looked at."
That would be your head since you failed miserably to see what the word "rare" means already but not my loss if you can't understand it.
@SwitchForce Companies putting out limited run editions are not overcharging because the run is limited, they usually cost less than regular games since they're usually indie titles. Do some research on this and you will find it to be true. For example, Limited Run Games deluxe editions cost literally half the price. That edition is garbage for the money it costs. Stop arguing for the sake of it.
