I said "screw it" and imported myself a copy...I'm hoping some day a translation will come out. Even if it takes 15 years, I'm sure it will happen sooner or later. ...and I bought the Steam version too (the original release)... ...kind of reluctant to triple-dip and get the Switch port.
Worst case scenario: it's a Dragon Quest game, so it will fetch a decent price on eBay.
Second-worst: I might try it with a guide after becoming comfortable with the Steam version.
@JonComms From what I've read, a few people were able to easily port a lot of the script over from other versions of the game, they're just afraid of Square's lawyers coming after them.
I've never heard anyone in electronics refer to a light emitting diode as a "lead" instead of an "L.E.D." Is that another UK thing, like "Ness" and "Snezz"?
@twztid13 Well to be fair, most of Nintendo Life are in the UK, and probably don't visit the US sites very often =) And people like us are too lazy to submit that kind of news.
I don't even check very often myself...but a few months ago, I missed out on a prize I wanted, and had quite a lot of coins saved up, so I've been checking regularly to see if anything else good pops up before it goes out of stock.
I noticed everything was gone a month or two ago. Would be nice if they'd give us something practical to do with our Platinum Coins, but I'm guessing they're just going to let it die out like Club Nintendo (RIP).
@FatPigeon I don't know how to change DM settings on the Switch version, but on PC, team DM is definitely a thing. The changelog even mentions fixing some of the friendly fire bugs.
I'm surprised they didn't throw on the Game Gear/Master System version of Aladdin, too. I thought the running stages with the pseudo-3D backgrounds were kind of cool.
I love the GameCube jingle, but it's kind of lengthy when you just want to get straight to the game. I voted for Game Boy because not only is it iconic, but it's super short.
BTW, Super Game Boy should've been in here, too! That one always takes me back, it was my first Game Boy.
Oh, so you're going to make me dig the game out now, are you?
I'm pretty sure the game was at 100% before I bought the DLCs. I've done every main quest, every side quest, all of the EX chests, every shrine, etc. etc. I found enough Korok seeds to upgrade everything except some more shield slots, and that seems pointless once you get the Hylian shield. I'm okay with not having a golden poo.
@dsparil That makes sense...I know I have a whole ton of the game finished, but the % is pretty low.
@russell-marlow Idunno, they were probably going for an "ancient cathedral" kind of theme or something. It's not much worse than the giant Jesus hanging up in any Catholic church (which I think is pretty gruesome, but maybe that's just me).
@Zenszulu They're hoping to support "curated" mods on consoles, but the publishers are really limiting what's allowed. It sounds like some of the bigger, more modern mods might make it, once they've got them working in the new engine (and all copyright issues resolved), but other than that they're focusing on maps/map packs.
@piecez They recompiled all of the vanilla maps, so they're much, much brighter now.
@impurekind You're literally the first person I've ever seen complain about the parallax skies (not skyboxes, BTW). None of the textures got changed, only the model skins (and even that can be disabled).
@russell-marlow The Jesus crucifix texture is in the Episode 1 secret level (e1m8), and one of the deathmatch levels (dm2 I think?)
@Friendly As far as I can remember, as long as you're a careful driver, you should be able to complete the GTA3 games without killing innocent people. Rampage missions might be a real challenge, but they're optional anyway.
And even if you do accidentally "kill" a civilian, an ambulance usually comes around to revive them.
@JasmineDragon The first GTA came out when I was an angsty teen, and I really enjoyed putting in cheat codes and causing senseless violence.
Now that I'm older, I kind of like just cruising around and exploring in the newer games, listening to the radio stations, some of the cutscenes are kind of okay...but then you have to do the actual missions to progress, and they're all pretty lame.
Except Chinatown Wars, I thought that game was actually really well done all-around (except the soundtrack).
Would be cooler to me if they did something more like LEGO City Undercover or Crackdown, where you can go around busting "bad guys".
@Wexter That particular run of the game -is- kind of rare. Maybe not $2M rare, but nowhere near as common as the "SMB+Duck Hunt" cartridge that breeds like rabbits.
@BulbasaurusRex Try it for yourself: after the initial Wiimote calibration, you can hide/unplug your sensor bar and all of the pointer functions work fine. The "point at the screen and press A" part seems to be the only time you need it. And like I said, it seems to me like everything stays calibrated better that way, but YMMV.
@kurtasbestos I feel you on that one, OoT is definitely my least favorite in the series, followed by TP in 2nd place. I wouldn't say I -hate- them, but it's difficult to push myself through them. I put off MM for a really long time, but finally played it about two years ago, and enjoyed it a lot. I love Wind Waker, love all the exploration and the relaxing sailing, but it's probably the #1 easiest game in the series. Hero Mode helped a little bit, but trying to juggle the few jars you get is really annoying for the first half of the game.
@Franklin It says right in that article you linked: "Quite honestly, those dungeons we removed we used in other games, so we can't use them in this version!" he told me, with an apologetic laugh.
Idunno, I think he kind of has a point. I think I would personally be okay with a "Director's Cut" with dungeons that we've seen elsewhere, but maybe not everyone would agree? But ultimately, it's his decision, after all.
@KingMike That's why I greatly prefer the GC version of TP, the "flick flick" of the Wii version hurt my wrist. SS did it much better. Also, get the d-pad hacks for the DS games =) No way could I play them without.
@Danondorf I didn't find out about the transform shortcut until more than halfway through the game, and I usually play with the Pro Controller, so I didn't usually get to use it anyway.
@Staienlus The sensor bar is used to calibrate the Wiimote at the beginning, but that's it. One of the guys who worked on Dolphin says that the game checks once in a while for the sensor bar to re-calibrate, too. I feel like I have a lot less calibration issues if I hide the sensor bar, but maybe that's just me?
@HammerGalladeBro You should try their other game, Pinball Pulse: The Ancients Beckon. It's a DSi game, but you can get it on the 3DS eShop. It's a lot more like a classic 90s Williams table, a lot more realistic than Metroid Pinball.
@sdelfin @KingMike @xxx128 @ShaneReactions @dsparil It is definitely a scam. Heritage Auction has a history of "shilling", and days later, there's an announcement that Wata has been purchased by Collectors Universe?? HMMMMM...

DON'T WORRY, GUYS, CRYSTAL IS BEATING GOLD & SILVER NOW
I can't believe Harvest Moon outranks Harvest Moon 3.
I feel like the Dragon Warrior games would rank a lot higher if more than 40 people had played them. I, II, and III on GBC are the sole reasons that I never played Gold/Silver when they came out.
I played this a couple years ago, I was enjoying it, but towards the end, a lot of bugs started popping up, and it got quite irritating. I don't remember if I was able to finish the game or not.
@HeadPirate I would've said Battle of Olympus was more similar...but I wouldn't call any of them "sister games". As far as I know, they're all just Zelda II copycats.
@CactusMan I didn't care for that patch, I thought it changed too much. If anything, I would replay it with the "experience ring", but I grew up with NES, so I'm used to games like that.
