Though many gamers are focused on the latest shiny new games from Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft, there's a market for 'new' releases on retro systems too. Now another one is going up for pre-order, in this case a game that'll be making its console debut on Super NES and SEGA Genesis / Mega Drive; yes, it is indeed 2021!

This time around it's Chip's Challenge, which has been ported to the 16-bit systems and will be produced and sold by The Retro Room. Like a number of projects of this type, it's reviving an old game for additional retro hardware and producing physical editions that will work in your actual SNES or Genesis, just like the old days.

Chip's Challenge is a game with some eager fans, it even has its own Wiki. Originally a release on the portable Atari Lynx in 1989, it's a puzzle game that gained recognition when it was ported to Windows and bundled in multiple 'Microsoft Entertainment Pack' releases; it was a relatively big-hitter on PC in the early to mid '90s, as a result. This release through The Retro Room will be its console debut, all these years later.

Pre-sales are open; you can get the 'complete box' (game cartridge, manual and box) at $49.99USD, or just the cartridge for $24.99USD. You can choose either the SNES or Mega Drive / Genesis version, and also need to specify between PAL and NTSC so that it'll work on your old hardware.
