Re: Splatoon 3 'Fresh Season 2024' Brings New Weapons, Stages & Gear To The Splatlands

AlexanderDaniels

A peeve of mine is how Splatoon 3's direction spends too much focus on making the outside aesthetic of Turf Maps 'detailed' and have a lot going on than the actually battle arenas design. I don't care for the background that we the players can't access and won't notice most of the time, I care about how good the Turf map we're duking it out is designed (Hey Kelp Dome & Urchin Underpass) and a lot of Splatoon 3 maps are flawed. Smaller maps, narrow entry points get bottlenecked, no flank routes, the maps feel like they're designed so the opposing side can't venture far through the middle.

Re: Splatoon 3 'Fresh Season 2024' Brings New Weapons, Stages & Gear To The Splatlands

@vio What's in store this season? Eight kits, low but not unusual. One new Turf and Salmon map, lower than normal, two new main weapons, once again, few.

Point being, from what was shown, this is the biggest nothing we've ever gotten. No new mode, feature, nothing aside from a gimmick limited to the dwindling Splatfasts as they planned to support/update for 2 years, so 8 seasons, meaning June-Sept 2024 season will be the last season, but we might have a final update on Sept to wrap up everything.

Literately just the bare minimum here. Just the weapons and maps. And no, Side Order doesn't excuse it. Optional paid DLC jeopardizing the Seasons contents that everyone is free to access, if true, sucks.

Re: Fate/Stay Night Gets English Release For First Time In 2024

AlexanderDaniels

@WiiWareWave There is no need for localization. Just translate the dang thing. Leave the localization and culturalization behind. The appeal of Japanese media is that it's Japanese. How is this not immediately understood?

When I purchase games from Japanese devs and you have someone to translate it, yes I want it to be as close to that original material as possible. Obviously there are instances where things can't be exact one to one, but if it's at least 95% close with an attempt to get the same context across, that's fine for me.

@Kr96 It's the handicapped all ages console version is it? Well, that's not a deal breaker as the scenes can be accessed by anyone with a computer, but I'll gladly support a translation over localization so until they clarify which of the two is used, my money is still on the table.

Re: Pokémon Scarlet And Violet Version 3.0.1 Update To Be Distributed This Week

AlexanderDaniels

@HatesCheese I don't think it'll automatically run better on Switch 2 other than load times? GF would have to work on the performance of the games itself running on Switch 2 for any substantial fixes. Systems with backwords compatibility like Wii and WiiU didn't make the predecessor games run any different or the New 3DS XL upgrade to 3DS didn't do that for 3DS titles prior to the upgrade besides load times at best.

Re: Video: We Compare Super Mario RPG On Switch To The SNES Original

AlexanderDaniels

@PrincessKatamari Pipe House is used for Mario Party Advance, Mario & Luigi Superstar Saga and its 3DS remake an addition to an NPC named 'Pipeman'. Why is it suddenly not okay now? In a series quite known to be associated with Pipes as means for fast travel. Was never an issue before. If your mind immediately thinks innuendo, then that's on you..

Re: Mario VA Charles Martinet Also "Not Involved" With WarioWare: Move It!

AlexanderDaniels

@luckyseven Even if he has you blocked, you can still view his comments. It only stops him from seeing your posts. Which means you must have him blocked too, so that you both can't view each others.

I've noticed the voice was 'off' in Wonder and Move It since hearing them in the Direct. People were clinging onto the idea that Charles voice was aging or there was a different voice direction being asked of him. Turns out the heighten sense of hearing crowd were right after all.

Re: Shiver, Frye, And Big Man Duke It Out In The Latest Splatoon 3 Splatfest

AlexanderDaniels

This makes no sense, it's another Shiver win. She's actually coded to be the leader. It's at the far left so it's the first you see. The team is composed by Shiver, Frye and Bigman. She's named first. She's the first in introducing herself in the presentation of Deep Cut. She's the first who talks in the news and she always makes the cue for greetings and goodbyes.
Oh, and in the last Splatfest she just proclamed leader herself. Can someone be more obvious?

Re: Video: Digital Foundry's Technical Analysis Of Pikmin 1+2 On Switch

AlexanderDaniels

@Fake-news I'm one for not wanting past media being censored for being products of their time. I'd rather Nintendo follow Capcoms example of their recent-released Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection and add a disclaimer warning players about culturally insensitive content to appease the "modern sensibilities" of people who can't get over the fact that not everything is made to reflect their worldview-- instead of being disingenuous by changing original scripts of two decade old games and claiming they're simply returning classics in HD.

As far as I'm aware, this is only an English issue and the other languages seems intact. That's quite telling.

Re: Reminder: Pokémon GO Plus + Is Now Available In Stores

AlexanderDaniels

@Kiyata A normal port would be ideal. I don't trust Gamefreak or any indie studio that gets enlisted to remake them. It'll be emphasized on being a 'faithful' remake of the Gold/Silver versions to a fault. Therefore, no Crystal and Hgss additions, meaning no Suicune side plot, Pokéathlon, Safari Zone, Battle Tower equivalent, Gym Leader rebattles, most legendary encounters left out, and only first two generations of Pokemon available. Mark my words.

Re: Review: Fire Emblem - The Blazing Blade Is Still As Sharp As Ever

AlexanderDaniels

@SwagaliciousJohnson Personally, I really do not want FE6 and FE7 to be in the same remake. A double remake would mean less resources for each game individually. Advanced Wars 1+2 Reboot Camp cut corners to include both games, one example is the partial voice acting; I feel like if it was a remake of the first game, they'd gone full voice acting. FE3 Mystery of the Emblem cut out characters and maps to include both Book 1 and 2. So that's why I fear of double pack theoretical releases, just because the stories intertwine doesn't mean they should be remade together regarding FE. One entry is a full fledged game on its own.

Another thing, I do not look forward to how they would explain all of the plotholes that FE7 created for the game that is the prequel to. Potential for FE7 pairings is also something that I really struggle to see working well in practice. I don't want FE6's characters and canon to be muddied up for vain fanservice.

Re: Review: Fire Emblem - The Blazing Blade Is Still As Sharp As Ever

AlexanderDaniels

@Axecon Yeah, I wouldn't count on an official translation release. This would had been Nintendo's opportunity to translate Binding Blade for NSO members, but they went NOPE here's your single FE game while we drop the Japan exclusive to our native audience.

Technically, Roy is in FE7 shown in the epilogue having a sprite and dialog. Same for Lilina, so he's not Japan-only as many people have overlooked.

Re: A New 'Persona 3 Reload' Online Listing Has Some Switch Fans Excited

AlexanderDaniels

@gazamataz We know that Reload will be stripped of content added in later iterations, one being already available on Switch

Regarding your translation point, doubtful. A lead of the localization came out on social media when the game was officially announced and revealed their involvement. This individual is a fan of butchering translations, to fit a political agenda. Defending people translating things completely incorrectly and changing intent behind the entire premise of manga authors works, just a bunch of bad decisions that were personally motivated instead of just doing their job. Big red flag.
