@Spider-Kev It's a small thing, but censorship is still censorship. Give them an inch and they'll take a mile. The fact is when they said it was unaltered, they lied to every purchaser who is subjected to the warning splash screen upon start-up. I'd maybe understand if they were aiming for T rating, but the collection is M rating.
These games are iconic and most beloved, yet they felt the need to add in a fudgin' disclaimer. Really???
@GarlicGuzzler The more we know, the better. Games shouldn't even have these sensibility disclaimers in the first place. It's age rated appropriately, M, not eC.
@HeadPirate This isn't Nintendo or the lead producer of the product or Miyamoto going back & forth with the artists, it's an outside team on the same payroll made up to influence with their own vision what they think is best for the western market, that's the difference. Treehouse is dictating the content of Japanese games while they're mid-development.
I'm not advocating change. Where have I said, 'unwanted, change this or else'? I humorously pointed out a blatant check box they met with purposely covering up one specific part of her body in all possible scenarios. We don't know all the facts, but the pattern has got me theorizing why they made an effort to bundle her up. It's not that deep.
@HeadPirate I've already addressed your point; the decision of opaque tights they went with is a form of hiding legs. If it shown the skintone underneath I wouldn't consider it cover up.
Are we really on the same page? I'm not advocating for Censorship whatsoever. I abhor it. You have a misunderstanding that I'm pro censorship. Quite the opposite.
It's a known fact, publicly stated by Nintendo theirselves that they send a team from the NoA and NoE branch to Japan routinely to 'consult' with the devs current projects on ideas of censoring or further 'westernizing' material during development. Even at the source level where localizers tell Japanese devs how to change the Japanese version so there is NO uncensored version and they can release games simultaneously. These teams are parasites. Infectious. Now the Japanese games suffer.
"But I'm also not going to tell Nintendo to change the art they have chosen to create, or tell the people who appreciate that direction they are wrong or bad people.
That's what respecting creative content actually looks like."
That's exactly what Nintendo pays teams to do at the source.
@beazlen1 Next, people will find showing forearms sacrilege and refer to an M rating game if you wanna see those, I swear 😆. The censor team probably was against Mermaid Peach and suggested Scuba Peach so she'd be covered up, but the Japanese Devs were like "that's a line we won't cross, deal with the midriff".
@Yalloo I'm referring to Bayonetta official default art, you see. I don't play the games, but every iteration of her default clothing she prowls in mostly, her legs aren't shown to be bare so I wouldn't equate it to a character with a design with leg exposed.
@Ryu_Niiyama It coincidentally matches her dress color as I mentioned before. They could had have her wear tights that matches her skintone, yet it's covered up in blue.
@ArcadianLegend99 Bayonetta doesn't show leg so that was a poor suggestion. A better one would be any Mario Tennis or Mario & Sonic at the Olympic games where her legs are in full view. I just find it fascinating that not one transformation where'd it make sense to having Peach show skin there, does. When did showing leg become so blasphemous, sacrilege in gaming media all of a sudden, it's a natural part of the body that shouldn't always be covered up. It feels forced here and I'm calling it out.
Confirmed, Peach isn't allowed to show leg anymore. Figure Skate Peach would of been the opportunity, but wears matching tights as her dress. What's the point?
@vio Well I informed you why the season is lacking compared to previous ones and it seems like you understand now. A single player mode expansion that has been worked on through all the seasons in the background that doesn't release along with the next Season to boot isn't related. I believe it's because we're nearing the end of the promised free updates. I hope you get your money's worth out of Side Order, however.
A peeve of mine is how Splatoon 3's direction spends too much focus on making the outside aesthetic of Turf Maps 'detailed' and have a lot going on than the actually battle arenas design. I don't care for the background that we the players can't access and won't notice most of the time, I care about how good the Turf map we're duking it out is designed (Hey Kelp Dome & Urchin Underpass) and a lot of Splatoon 3 maps are flawed. Smaller maps, narrow entry points get bottlenecked, no flank routes, the maps feel like they're designed so the opposing side can't venture far through the middle.
@vio What's in store this season? Eight kits, low but not unusual. One new Turf and Salmon map, lower than normal, two new main weapons, once again, few.
Point being, from what was shown, this is the biggest nothing we've ever gotten. No new mode, feature, nothing aside from a gimmick limited to the dwindling Splatfasts as they planned to support/update for 2 years, so 8 seasons, meaning June-Sept 2024 season will be the last season, but we might have a final update on Sept to wrap up everything.
Literately just the bare minimum here. Just the weapons and maps. And no, Side Order doesn't excuse it. Optional paid DLC jeopardizing the Seasons contents that everyone is free to access, if true, sucks.
@WiiWareWave There is no need for localization. Just translate the dang thing. Leave the localization and culturalization behind. The appeal of Japanese media is that it's Japanese. How is this not immediately understood?
When I purchase games from Japanese devs and you have someone to translate it, yes I want it to be as close to that original material as possible. Obviously there are instances where things can't be exact one to one, but if it's at least 95% close with an attempt to get the same context across, that's fine for me.
@Kr96 It's the handicapped all ages console version is it? Well, that's not a deal breaker as the scenes can be accessed by anyone with a computer, but I'll gladly support a translation over localization so until they clarify which of the two is used, my money is still on the table.
Please be clear: is it a translation or a localization? The two are very different from one another. The video doesn't specify which; only stating it'll be made available in English for the first time.
@HatesCheese I don't think it'll automatically run better on Switch 2 other than load times? GF would have to work on the performance of the games itself running on Switch 2 for any substantial fixes. Systems with backwords compatibility like Wii and WiiU didn't make the predecessor games run any different or the New 3DS XL upgrade to 3DS didn't do that for 3DS titles prior to the upgrade besides load times at best.
@Kingy If you've played Phoenix Wright vs Professor Layton, you'd notice it's more Layton-esque/Level 5 than a AA/Capcom game since it uses the same kind of menu's, save system, and overwhelming of puzzels plus DLC. Level 5 did publish it too, so I think it's their call with Capcom's permission to get it re-released.
@TheBigK What? Weapon proficiency is max out in FE Engage. Whichever class you swap or upgrade to, you're immediately assigned maximum weapon rank in that class. They did away with the weapon rank grind.
@DellMibbler Easy. Critical social justice along intersectionalist lines. Why it's bad, causing even the slightest offence to anybody or any other group ever leads to cancelling those that do.
@PrincessKatamari Pipe House is used for Mario Party Advance, Mario & Luigi Superstar Saga and its 3DS remake an addition to an NPC named 'Pipeman'. Why is it suddenly not okay now? In a series quite known to be associated with Pipes as means for fast travel. Was never an issue before. If your mind immediately thinks innuendo, then that's on you..
@Tyranexx Speaking of, Mother 3 doesn't need to be localized to oblivion. There's a perfectly usable fan translation that doesn't butcher dialogue and themes that Nintendo would edit out to avoid backlash here in the west.
@sanderev With Nintendo charging money for what was free online up until the early years of Switch, a large percentage of that NSO money is profit. They can afford to maintain their own servers and keep their customers happy. See Microsoft's leading example.
Why can't they keep the servers going? Isn't the 3DS and WiiU's servers run on literally their own servers, called Nintendo Network? If it's theirs, all they have to do is maintain it..
@JohnnyMind @Jack_Goetz I've seen a few other instances of dialogue changes in the comparison video. Harmless stuff like Goombella's introduction. If they're changing stuff as simple as this and 'Airhead', prepare yourself for Vivian. Localization team arbitrarily changing a translation to justify existing on Nintendos payroll.
@luckyseven Even if he has you blocked, you can still view his comments. It only stops him from seeing your posts. Which means you must have him blocked too, so that you both can't view each others.
I've noticed the voice was 'off' in Wonder and Move It since hearing them in the Direct. People were clinging onto the idea that Charles voice was aging or there was a different voice direction being asked of him. Turns out the heighten sense of hearing crowd were right after all.
This makes no sense, it's another Shiver win. She's actually coded to be the leader. It's at the far left so it's the first you see. The team is composed by Shiver, Frye and Bigman. She's named first. She's the first in introducing herself in the presentation of Deep Cut. She's the first who talks in the news and she always makes the cue for greetings and goodbyes. Oh, and in the last Splatfest she just proclamed leader herself. Can someone be more obvious?
