Re: Talking Point: How Does Switch 2's Launch Price Compare To Past Nintendo Systems?

97alexk

@MSaturn No. Mostly wages take many many more years to catch up. Wages across the board are not catching up. Also inflation has gone up really fast the last 2 years, some reasons because of the Ukraine war and other conflicts, some still because of Covid, but now also with Trumps presidency.

You also have to consider how much everything else seems to cost a lot as well. Basic necessities like food, electricity and so on. Spending power is very weak now, making everything more expensive. Which should actually be the opposite.

Grocery stores, tech companies and pretty much all businesses raise their prices way higher than what is reasonable, because they are taking the looming inflation as an excuse. Thus speeding away further and further from people's wages.

Peoples desperation and ''wanting to have things right away'' are some of the things that ultimately reward those businesses that set those high prices.

@Timppis You need both capitalism and socialism in a society. Too much socialism eventually becomes collectivism or worst case communism. Economically this will translate to a planned economy where the state decides how much, and what things are worth. I know people criticize capitalism as a economic system because it does distribute capital unevenly in such a society. However if you have a more socialistic society, with a planned economy you will disincentivize creativity, new owner of privately owned businesses. A free market is needed for the health of a society. If you are smart, hard-working and creative you can go far. Laziness is often not rewarded in a capitalistic society. But socialism is also needed in the form of providing basic rights for all citizens in the form of taxes. Just to name one example.

Greed however can also happen in a socialistic society, where few corrupt state heads take all the money in the name of the ''good'' and launder it. This has happened in every society, regardless of socialistic or capitalistic. Just to clarify if you didn't already know. A balance is the key!

Re: Where To Pre-Order Nintendo Switch 2

In Sweden the basic Switch 2 bundle is like 620 euros and the physical version of games are 91 euros. Inflation my a**, there are still games made today that are 60 dollars. No way im buying this. You guys have fun, I'll go make something of myself i guess!

Re: Digital Foundry Analyses The Tech In Xenoblade Chronicles X For Switch

I gotta say, i think i prefer the original Wii U character models more. They felt more unique. The eyes and hair of Elma is better in the Wii U version. Now they just have a more generic anime style to them. The same goes to the original Xenoblade Chronicles game. The Wii version had much more charming character visual, albeit a bit blurry and not so high resolution, but better than the Definitive version imo.

Other than that, the Switch version seems clearly superior, visually speaking.

Re: Nintendo's Palworld Lawsuit Might Go International As New Patents Land U.S. Approval

@Dr_Lugae But they haven't patented throwing a round object to catch a monster. Of course Palworld is a rip-off of Pokemon, but as long as it's not violating any copyright or patent its fine.
Also, you shouldn't be able to patent the throwing an object to catch a monster. That is too broad of a game mechanic to patent in my opinion, and if it does get patented then its wrong, because it limits the freedom of creative ways to implement it, as in the way you alluded too.
Gary bowser did not do millions on the emulation. I get Nintendo there ofc but 14 million dollars is nowhere near the damage he did. No chance!
Nintendo or Gamefreak, pokemon company is just salty because someone found a loophole, and if it that does eventually bring better quality pokemon games to the consumer to rival the quality competitors then it's a win for the consumers!
It's not like they are lacking money.

Re: Nintendo's Palworld Lawsuit Might Go International As New Patents Land U.S. Approval

@Dr_Lugae But should one be able to patent a game mechanic? In that case, catching monsters was done by Dragon Quest before Pokemon. Even one of the creators of Pokemon sai that he got the ''inspiration'' from that game. Are the creators of DQ going after Pokemon because of that? . Also, I thought it was wrong to ruin Gary Bowser's life because of his emulation just to set an example of him. Sure i can understand facing repercussions but owing them 14 million dollars is scummy.

I support Nintendo enough with me buying their games and being excited about their games, but critique needs to be handed out where it's justified. No one should be too ''good'' for critique.

Re: Star Fox Dev Wants To Work With CD Projekt Red On Star Wars, Of All Things

@Poco_Lypso Looked up some of it! And yeah, they seem to be moving that direction. Though it seems like they have removed and changed stuff on their website regarding ESG for example. So i don't know how prolific it still is, but it's for damn sure gonna be noticed in the next Witcher game. That vampire game looks absolutely killer though!

Re: SEGA Reports Drop In Revenues Amid Sonic Series Successes

Just saw Sonic the Hedgehog 3. Holy ***** that was a good movie. Much better than i expected. I mean a really good movie for what it is. I never really played much sonic in my childhood. Only Sonic Unleashed but even I felt like a life-long fan when i finished it. I can't imagine how life-long fans felt after seeing it.

It really shows that the people who worked on the movie cares about their fanbase and they are in-touch what people want.
I think the comedic parts are also fitting, and ridiculous that i just loved the absurdity of it with Jim Carrey.
It's a fresh breath of air in the movie industry from creators that care about their fans and the legacy of the franchise (compared to some others) and just want to invoke awsome, emotional and meaningful experiences to those who watch it.

There are a lot of things DeNA should update with this app. For once, just simple QoL improvements. Such as:
Updating the game with ranked mode and different battle rules. Like no EX cards for example. So you can get XP.
Increase XP earned for each battle the higher lvl you are.
lvl up rewards like emblems, playmats and so on
Dark mode
More streamlined search functionality
Being able to open multiple promo packs at once
Trading being like GTS instead of relying on third party apps like Discord and Reddit
Being able to see what status conditions do in a match
Increase deck limit

These are just to list a few, and not to mention the awful trade system. You should be able to dust 1 diamond for 5 trade tokens and 2 diamond for 10 trade token. I think it is fair. There should be friction in obtaining cards, as it makes it more satisfying to get them. But as for now trading is awful.

Re: Top 100 Best Nintendo Games Of All Time

Donkey Kong tropical Freeze is criminally low and should be in the top 5, same with pokemon platinum. Those are absolute masterpieces. Xenoblade Chronicles 3 over 1? Nah!

I would say numero uno should be Ocarina of time which may sound cliché but it really is something else
