@nhSnork But you couldn't simply say he was entitled to use the IP, because this would imply that you are giving him the entitlement; you would have to say that he deemed himself entitled. A quicker way of writing this is self-entitlement.
@Dtbahoney Entitlement can be given by one person or organisation to another. Self-entitlement is when the subject deems themselves entitled. So there is a distinction.
@Hughesy It may have been released as such, but it is not. So NL are not even dignifying it with a score. Ideally there would be no numeric scoring systems so people would read reviews in full, but this is the next best thing.
Good on you for withholding a score. I know there will be those expecting a score 'as the game is now', but you're effectively reviewing an unfinished product.
@QwertyQwerty Just... don't watch the trailers? For example, I haven't seen any footage of Mario Odyssey since the original reveal, and the hype is immense for me.
I have a feeling that Nintendo are holding back stock for the launch. They don't want another NES Mini debacle, because it doesn't benefit them, plus queues are good publicity.
The alternative is that they will ramp up production for the holiday season.
Either way, I don't think we'll see the stock shortages we witnessed before (even if people's fears are reasonable).
I honestly think the title plays a part here. I was put off because it sounds like a mobile game; or at best one of those ten-a-penny eShop filler games. I only knew it was decent after hearing it mentioned on the Giant Bombcast.
Decisions like this (see also: Disney Afternoon Collection) are baffling from every perspective, including the business one. Of all the demographics to push sales, surely it's the Nintendo crowd?
It's virtually broken on Switch. I just about played through all the levels, but on some of them the slowdown was lethal. It's a fun game when it works, but I would recommend holding off until it's patched (AKA finished).
I know it's funny to look at the quaint outrage from the 90s but Nintendo's image hasn't changed, and Night Trap is still a scuzzy game which doesn't fit their brand at all, regardless of its actual quality.
@MegaVel91 Publishers don't care if it's a hot item if the install base is low. Fact is, at the time FIFA releases, Switch will still only have a fraction of the audience enjoyed by the other consoles.
And do they want to submit resources to future projects if there's no evidence that the hot item will actually be manufactured in sufficient quantities?
@SLIGEACH_EIRE Every publisher approaches every new platform in exactly the same way, to be fair. Wii got bespoke ports because the userbase was so vast; Wii U didn't because the userbase was small so third party sales were poor. There's no reason for EA or anyone to blindly throw their weight behind a system that's still an unknown entity.
I love Steam, but the fact is I have a catalogue of games I'll never play. With the eShop, I've made a conscious effort to buy nothing on a whim and I've finished every game I've bought. Definitely feels like I'm getting value from my Switch.
As disappointing as this is, it's still entirely conceivable that Nintendo are producing a huge amount of stock for the Christmas period. Queues are a way better form of visual marketing than "out of stock" messages online.
@OrigamiSquirtle So much fun, if you're in the habit of hosting three or more drunk friends at your place after the pub, and assuming they have smartphones. If yes, there's no better feeling.
@Tempestryke In a good way, just because I love the Metroid universe. Although it is a series defined by isolation, so I'm not sure how interesting it would be to actually watch. Maybe like the first half hour of Riddick, who knows.

Re: Nintendo Takes Down Super Mario 64 Online Videos And Creator's Patreon
Regardless of the rights and wrongs of it, he does seem rather deluded.
Re: Light Fall is Another Promising Title Confirmed for the Switch eShop
@Fake-E-Lee You're basically describing the problem with Steam! Although it's a good problem to have I guess...
Re: Video: Get a Good Look at SteamWorld Dig 2 in the Launch Trailer
This will definitely scratch the Metroid itch until Ori returns.

Re: Credit Suisse Forecasts 130 Million Nintendo Switch Sales By 2022
Can they even produce that many? I can't see this happening, although I do think it will sell buckets this Christmas.

Re: Lichtspeer Developer Suggests That Nintendo Has Switch Achievements in the Works
I personally prefer it when devs put in their own achievements linked to unlocks, but I know some people swear by achievements at system level.

Re: L.A. Noire Is The Latest Game To Fall Foul Of The Dreaded "Switch Tax"
I'm sure this is on Steam for like a fiver. Decent game, but I'm not sure I'd pay full price.
Re: Jools Watsham Highlights Low Chicken Wiggle Sales, Confirms Upcoming Discount

Re: Some Retail Nintendo Switch Games Will Require You To Own A MicroSD Card
I just want to know if this will affect Nintendo first party titles, because they're what I play on my Switch (alongside indies).
Re: Kingdom: New Lands Sails To Switch On 14th September
£10.99 on Steam.
Re: Guide: Getting Started in Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle
Starting to get tricky - but I've managed to resist the temptation to take up the "Easy Mode" offer so far!
Re: SteamWorld Dig 2 Arrives on 21st September, Image & Form Confirms Pricing
@A01 It's not a price increase because it's a different game and it's not out yet. It's more expensive for apparently vastly more content.
Re: The Plug Will Finally Be Pulled On Miiverse In November
Charmingly clunky, but I'm not sure Miiverse would cut the mustard in 2017. It was an endearing mess.
Re: Review: League of Evil (Switch eShop)
Demo available on Steam, for those who want to try before buying.
Re: Video: Check Out This League of Evil Trailer for Switch
@Flugen Sorry, but thanks to your avatar, I'm reading your tantrum in Wario's voice...

Re: Azure Striker Gunvolt: Striker Pack Is Getting a Physical Release
@OorWullie Keep an eye on the regional eShops for the best price.
Re: Video: Check Out This League of Evil Trailer for Switch
@Flugen It isn't happening and your only options are to accept that and enjoy the library as it is, or buy a PS4/Xbox/PC.
Re: Video: Check Out This League of Evil Trailer for Switch
It can't be as hard as Slime-san. I beat that game, and enjoyed it, but I'll never be touching NG+!
Re: Dataminers Have Found 3DS Code in Mega Man Legacy Collection 2
Could the game(s) be using assets from previous games? Maybe they just copied the files across wholesale.
Re: Review: Sonic Mania (Switch eShop)
I can't get past the fortress level. I would have breezed it when I was ten!

Re: Sonic Mania Runs Brilliantly on Switch, With One Tiny Drawback
I can live with this. It was the framerate that was the only concern.
Re: Nicalis Would Love To Bring Night Trap To Nintendo Switch
I know it's funny to look at the quaint outrage from the 90s but Nintendo's image hasn't changed, and Night Trap is still a scuzzy game which doesn't fit their brand at all, regardless of its actual quality.
Re: Feature: Basking in Nostalgia and '16-Bit' Goodness in Sonic Mania
"SEGA America offered us PS4 / Xbox One codes initially and told us that Switch equivalents would arrive later..."
Definitely waiting for a full Switch review of this before committing to purchase. Almost every port I've played so far has had performance issues.

Re: Stylish Twin-Stick Shooter, Boiling Bolt, Announced For Switch
I can't help thinking this will have performance issues on Switch. So many ports have framerate problems, it's a real pity.
Re: 25 Years Later, And Night Trap Still Isn't Going To Appear On A Nintendo Console
Third party support is a double-edged sword.
Re: Axiom Verge Launches on Switch on 17th October
@GoldenGamer88 Showing on Amazon now.
Re: The ALL Controller Aims To Work Across All Your Game Consoles and Devices
ALL bog standard modern black box consoles, then, not actually ALL.

Re: AtGames Confirms Its SEGA Genesis Clone Systems to Roll Out Ahead of SNES Mini
Look beyond the numbers - that would be my advice. Check video reviews first, because a lot of these machines are very poor.
Re: Video: Get Warmed Up for Namco Museum With This New Trailer
A tenner was going to be my biting point.
Then I scrolled down.
Re: Feature: Splatoon 2 and the Spirit of Miiverse - In Pictures
Really looking forward to messing about with the app. I'm the one person in the world right now who thinks it looks really cool!
Re: Prima Games' Nintendo SNES Classics Book Will Go Nicely With A SNES Mini
It's now available to pre-order on the Amazon UK site.
The NES book felt a little cheap, but it looked gorgeous and it came in genuinely useful when trying to navigate Metroid!
I'm hoping that Prima can this time match the recent Art of Splatoon book, which was of remarkably high quality.
Re: Funbox Media Announces Vegas Party And Chicken Range For Switch
These have got "future collector's item" written all over them.
One of the reasons I'm not a collector.

@Eddyson Could or couldn't?
Re: Feature: Castlevania Show Producer Adi Shankar On Respecting Fandom And Future Seasons
The mention of Metroid made me feel all tingly.
Re: Oddworld Creator Lorne Lanning "Has No Faith" In Switch
Ooh, hark at him!
Re: Monkey Island Creator's Thimbleweed Park Is Coming To Switch
@macaron75 It's harking back to a generation before Day of the Tentacle. It looks precisely as it's meant to look - and it looks awesome!
