@Ernest_The_Crab Yes, they've now changed the wording in the update. Yet I've also seen user videos showing the difference between before and after, testing ranges and "behind the back" play.
Digital Foundry have not confirmed if they attached the joy-cons when rebooting. I get that they are well-regarded experts, but the fact is they haven't confirmed their method and there are people posting videos showing the method works.
We need to shake off the old AAA vs Indie binary opposition. Many of these are just great games. Enter the Gungeon, Thumper, Towerfall etc - they provide equal if not greater value than any movie wannabe big studio blockbuster I've played in recent years. Nintendo is synonymous with fun, and fun is what these cracking titles provide.
I cannot think of a situation where this would be an issue. If you can afford multiple Switches, you can afford more than one copy of an eShop game. If you're visiting a friend, your Switch can come with you! It's neat like that.
@jimi Was it Nintendo dropping the price, or retailers doing so to get the jump on preorders? Because here in the UK certain retailers have undercut the RRP also. I think it was Gameseek who are still alleging that they'll honour £198 preorders.
Switch can definitely help to normalise local multiplayer, but for those of us who use Steam regularly, it has never been a better time. I can't see me challenging a complete stranger to a game on Switch, but who knows, I may surprise myself!
The backlash against Nintendo's closed attitude speaks volumes about the modern gamer's sense of entitlement. It's as if Nintendo somehow owes us a constant stream of information. They really don't, and we really don't need it. From the consumer's perspective, if you see Breath of the Wild in motion and fall in love, you're not going to suddenly fall out of love when you discover it's running on Tegra X1 or whatever.
I wanted one because it seemed like an convenient way to play 30 awesome games. But Nintendo made it very inconvenient. And all that happens now is that I download the ROMs for free instead, so Nintendo really doesn't gain anything here.
@CircuitWrangler3 I admire your positivity, but these stories cannot be spun as good news in the run-up to any major console launch, especially after the failure of Wii U. The fact is that third party support is as limited or worse than it was for Wii U. The big difference this time is that the hardware is actually desirable. But it is still a machine that won't play a majority of the most popular modern games.
Brutal on multiple levels. First, it isn't happening. Second, it wouldn't run - but get those Android apps on there! Third, the classic, 'We love Nintendo... as long as others are making the games.'
@Ristar42 This is the major concern. Switch needs to have some rudimentary web functionality or else those ads where the college kids are playing together over public wi-fi can't be a reality.
It doesn't bother me because I'm fine with what's been announced for Switch. But in terms of third party AAA support it is worse than Wii U. The success of the 'true' launch of Switch in holiday 2017 rests almost entirely on E3.
@impurekind I thought the point of the advert was that Audi is committed to "equal pay for equal work", as per the subtitle. So I don't think it's about the literal product but the brand. I.e. We're a socially responsible company.
I get the feeling that investors just love the easy profits of mobile phone gaming. Which is understandable, but fairly disconnected from the broader interests of actual gamers.
Also, this is a good moment to reflect again on the fact that we're lucky the Switch is 280, rather than having parity with the US price, given the way sterling is going.
@Oat So basically you don't like the controls, the capacity, the online service, the account system, the prices, or the games catalogue. Just don't get a Switch!
Weirdly, the feature I'm waiting to hear about is the game journal. I used this all the time on Wii U to chart my 'gaming story'. It felt much more personal than gaining generic achievements.

Re: Digital Foundry and Eurogamer Break Down the Left Joy-Con Disconnect Issue
@Ernest_The_Crab Yes, they've now changed the wording in the update. Yet I've also seen user videos showing the difference between before and after, testing ranges and "behind the back" play.
Guess we'll just have to hope we get lucky!

Re: Feature: A Breakdown of the Nintendo Switch eShop Games of 2017

Re: Feature: A Chat About Zelda: Breath of the Wild and The Evolution of the Franchise
And I thought my hype levels could not increase.
Re: Nintendo Switch Joy-Cons Are Disconnecting, And No One Seems To Know Why
Never preordered a console before. Now I know what it feels like to be an early adopter.
Re: The Nintendo Switch's Sleep Mode Is Extremely Power Efficient
@JubilifeRival Eternal Sleep mode
Re: Bethesda's Todd Howard "Can't Say" If Skyrim on Switch is the Special Edition
@NickOfTime90 I've never played the SE version, but the original is entirely awesome in its own right.
Re: Downloadable Games for the Switch Will Be Locked to One Console at a Time
I cannot think of a situation where this would be an issue. If you can afford multiple Switches, you can afford more than one copy of an eShop game. If you're visiting a friend, your Switch can come with you! It's neat like that.
Re: Battle Princess Madelyn To Bring Classic Ghouls 'n Ghosts Action To Switch
@PurinPuff Kind of hoping that would be the plot of Breath of the Wild. I guess we'll just have to wait for the next Zelda installment...
Re: Nintendo France Expects Switch To Beat Wii U's Lifetime Sales In Region By Year End
@jimi Was it Nintendo dropping the price, or retailers doing so to get the jump on preorders? Because here in the UK certain retailers have undercut the RRP also. I think it was Gameseek who are still alleging that they'll honour £198 preorders.
Re: GameStop Director on Demand and Timing for the Switch
I think he has a point, although attributing the Q1 launch to good business sense sounds fanciful.
Re: Alan Stone, Co-Founder of Nintendo of America, Passes Away at Age 71
@Braok Please, please - stop. It's awkward enough looking at this wall of text anyway, but particularly under an article like this.
Re: FAST RMX is Still 'Coming Soon' and Will Utilise HD Rumble
I'm all over this. The Wii U game was amazing. And yes, it's better than Redout.
Re: RiME Will Take Around 10 Hours To Complete "If You Really Want To Take Your Time"
10 good hours > 50 hours of grind. Personally I like how Breath of the Wild (apparently) offers the openness to focus purely on the story.
Re: It's Time to Claim Your Nintendo Account User ID for Nintendo Switch
@G0dlike Yup, same here, all day.
Re: Nintendo Switch Teardown Images Pop Up Online
Thank goodness I'm not going to have to tear my own Switch apart on March 3rd.
Re: Nintendo Switch Dev Kits Are Nice and Affordable, According to Reports From Game Creators Conference
So it's easy AND cheap to develop for the Switch. Now it's time for people much smarter than me to make use of it!
Re: Talking Point: The Nintendo Switch Could Revive Local Multiplayer
Switch can definitely help to normalise local multiplayer, but for those of us who use Steam regularly, it has never been a better time. I can't see me challenging a complete stranger to a game on Switch, but who knows, I may surprise myself!
Re: Nintendo Switch eShop Purchases Will Be Tied To Your Nintendo Account
This is nice, although it's not that big a deal because it only confirms that if your system tanks you won't have to call Nintendo.
Re: Updated Unreal Engine 4 Release Officially Adds 'Experimental' Nintendo Switch Support
Another sign that Switch is a Holiday 2017 release brought forward.
Re: Eiji Aonuma Wants an 'Evolved 2D Style' From His Legend of Zelda Handheld Dev Team
Would suggest a dual release for a 2D Zelda on 3DS and Switch...
Re: Don't Worry, Nintendo Says It Hasn't Stopped NES Mini Production
Call me cynical, but could they be holding back stock so as not to negatively affect Switch sales..?
Re: Japanese Box Art Confirms First-Person Mode for Ultra Street Fighter II
The fact that they have barely showed this mode presumably means it's a mini game. Which is fine, but would not justify a full RRP.

Ouch.
Re: Nintendo Switch Lacks A Web Browser Because It's A "Dedicated Video Game Platform"
@Jessica286 A reason to wait, certainly. It may not matter that much, not having a browser, but it can't really be spun as an advantage.
Re: Nintendo Switch Lacks A Web Browser Because It's A "Dedicated Video Game Platform"
@Ristar42 This is the major concern. Switch needs to have some rudimentary web functionality or else those ads where the college kids are playing together over public wi-fi can't be a reality.

Re: Nintendo's Dev Teams Rival Western Counterparts In Terms Of Skill, Claims Miyamoto
Was there ever doubt that they did?
Re: Nintendo Switch Appearance Earns Positive Impressions Among Super Bowl Commercials
@impurekind Pretty standard practice for companies to be selling ideas/concepts for consumers to associate them with, no?
Re: Nintendo Switch Appearance Earns Positive Impressions Among Super Bowl Commercials

Re: Nintendo Outlines Pricing Range for Switch Online Service
I'm guessing the price range depends on whether you pay monthly or yearly, etc.
Re: Tatsumi Kimishima Responds to Criticism Over the Switch Launch Line-Up
I understand the strategy, although I think this underlines the need for a stellar E3.
Re: Super Mario Run Now Costs £9.99 To Unlock In The UK

Re: Super Mario Run Now Costs £9.99 To Unlock In The UK
Will try the free version (my first ever mobile game!). Will purchase if fun.
Re: Rumour: Nintendo Releasing New Super Mario Bros. On The Nvidia Shield In China
@Octane Of course, although there are specific and unique reasons why this is happening in China.
Re: Rumour: Nintendo Releasing New Super Mario Bros. On The Nvidia Shield In China
@YingofDarkness Genuinely not sure if you're joking...
Re: Rumour: Nintendo Releasing New Super Mario Bros. On The Nvidia Shield In China
@Octane On the contrary, there is very little reason for this to happen outside China.
Re: Rumour: Nintendo Releasing New Super Mario Bros. On The Nvidia Shield In China
Makes sense. Although emphasis on "time" in the phrase "timed exclusive"! Could be very useful for nVidia in China.
Re: Nintendo Will Replace Your Dead Switch Battery, At A Cost
Good news - makes me feel a bit more secure. Especially combined with games being tied to accounts.
Re: Gorgeous Nintendo Switch Game Boxes Get Shown Off in Japanese Stores
Gorgeous. Simply gorgeous. I hope it's mandatory!
Re: Feature: Reflecting on Time Spent With the Nintendo Switch
@Oat So basically you don't like the controls, the capacity, the online service, the account system, the prices, or the games catalogue. Just don't get a Switch!
Re: Feature: Reflecting on Time Spent With the Nintendo Switch
@Spoony_Tech Cancel it. If you're on the fence then let someone who really wants one get theirs.

Oh, go on then.
Re: TT Head of Design Suggests That LEGO Worlds is Heading to Nintendo Switch
@Grawlog Haha I know, I'm the guy who still hasn't got through his Wii U library!
Re: TT Head of Design Suggests That LEGO Worlds is Heading to Nintendo Switch
@Grawlog I find PC + Nintendo does it for me. It's not a matter of money, just time. I would defo own all the systems if I had more of it!
