I'm so annoyed every time I see a tariff comment. Tariff on Japanese goods excluding metal, automobiles is 15%. The normal amiibo with tariff should be 18.49 US. The bike 28.99. Add a little inflation maybe 20 bucks and 31. Ridiculous argument if you know the numbers. Even if they're getting China rate tariff its 21 and 32 base. So yes factors but much bigger factor is pure Nintendo greed. Don't even get me started on the Galaxy and Kirby ones.
Instead of tournaments, Nintendo should work on adding content to complete the unfinished 80 dollar game. Except maybe we don't want that because they'd charge 40$ for a kart and new stickers.
@Croctopus it is mostly Nintendo's fault. Even with full inflation and tariff figured in, a regular amiibo should be about 23$ US, which is still too much for a piece of plastic. 40 and 50 bucks they're kidding themselves and anyone who pays that just got fleeced. Also at this point the aftermarket for these things consists of about 22 people worldwide, who all bought 4 of each figure and are looking to unload 3.
@RiasGremory you're not entitely wrong, but they could charge 19.99 to cover inflation. Not 50 bucks. 25 absolute max and I still wouldn't buy them. Especially from an old mid Kirby game. Inflation is not 300-400%. Tariff is not 300%
I was an amiibo completist for years but it got out of hand a long time ago. I probably have 120 + of the things. I became more selective when they went from 12.99 to 15.99. When they got to 25/30 I said forget it. Now this is definitely insane. Never again. (I could even throw in that I was able to get all the common Smash Bros. Ones for 2.99 clearance. ) At this point its a 400% price increase.
Surely this is just amazon guessing what someone might pay early. I still see the Skyward Sword Zelda amiibo which had the absurd 25$ price ( I know it was a little bigger, but not much) in bulk all over my town. Gamestop couldn't even unload them at 12.99 clearance.
@nessisonett
Reminds me of when Dr. Edward Environment said "It's Environ' Time" and then environmented all over everyone. Then the smash tournament was cancelled. One of the comments of all time.
Yay a better screen to play a 7 year old Mario Kart made for Wii U hardware. Nintendo is robbing you friends, and they don't even have to make nice things...
@Snatcher of course not silly, those controllers are physically defective and no update could ever fix them. Although that's not a story a Nintendo rep would tell...
@b1galbos89 Ummm sure...except the fact that the only playstation I have is the original. I had a PS2 once but that broke like 12 years ago because the hardware was trash...
60 bucks for a ten year old mediocre game, sorry but you should have D.A.R.E.D to just say no in the first place. New Nintendo policy is lazy pickpocketing. Also LOL at how you "remaster" an old game and it still has problems, oh wait that's right it's because they want your easy money and don't care.
It occurs to me that if you're an active social justice warrior, surely there are better uses for your time than catching a pretend animal on your phone or complaining on a forum that you are being put in danger by an evil corporation when you decide to go collect your pretend pokeballs. Just sayin.
Why would anyone go to this event, especially knowing you will be forced to subjugate to ridiculously over the top rules to do so? Just put it out of its misery.
@Heavyarms55 hey if you like remakes, remasters, revisions, deluxe editions, reskins, ports, and shovelware, you ARE in good shape Nintendo-wise. Endless choices of those, and most at 59.99! After the first year of switch, that's 99% of what "new" content has been released. It's a disgrace.
Imagine a world where Nintendo made new games instead of selling 10 year old ones, the controllers could be used for more than a few months without breaking, and amiibo could be easily procured for 12.99. RIP 2015-2018. If you buy any of the stuff in this video you are getting ripped off and encouraging Nintendo's hostile and stagnant business strategies. Just sayin.
Bless Nintendo for a double priced trinket and Zelda themed drift-cons so that inflexible collectors can spend 160 dollars on a ten year old port of the worst Zelda game. Yikes. I will be passing on all of this. I could fire up Skyward Sword on my Wii, but I'd rather play almost anything else.
My kids want a pack here and there but I've only found one in the last month. The dumb thing is, you spend 5 dollars and probably get 1 dollar worth of cards in 9 out of 10 packs. If you're buying all the packs to scalp that's not profitable. Smh
The fact that this broken mess of a game where you run around and hit one button over and over while the animation seizures out is called a "highlight" of the last year shows how low we have gone. And now they want you to buy dlc??? The base game and whatever they add will never be worth even half the original cart price.
