@Nintendo4Sonic
What new devilry is this you mention? Terrible! Alas I already can't use my joy cons because they all drift nonstop. What a great company Nintendo has become these days.
I can see being upset about this amiibo, but don't lose sight of the real crime... that Nintendo's big "AAA game of the year" is a port of the 10 year old most mediocre mainline Zelda game at full price.
Golden Age of Remakes, Ports, and Shovelware. The title of this article literally made me LOL. Imagine a time where you could look forward to a constant stream of brand new Nintendo games...that used to exist. Now it's be thankful that they are releasing 10 year old games again and you should happily hand over your money.
@Nourldean LOL your check from Kyoto marketing department is in the mail. "Brand new" Skyward Sword is the marquee release coming out soon... how exciting...not... maybe we will get a mario kart wii port next year....smh
Can't wait to hear about how Skyward Sword features an exclusive new mode where Link can port M&M Kart Racing and Sonic Boom Rise of Lyric onto Switch and all the Nintendo fans go wild and tell us how thankful we should be for these wonderful new games!
Glad I have the original 3 games and never wasted a dime on "Super Cashgrab Limited Time Mario Emulation SKU" plus I was at a Target yesterday and they have like 85 copies of this joke so....
@electrolite77 so I see you still are hoping Nintendo will gift you a real jet ski for supporting their complete non efforts with comments. So glad you count up all the cruddy games that get put out. Not going to pretend Age of Calamity isn't a broken mess or Origami King isn't a weak text adventure. Nintendo's new quality software is currently at zero and NUMBERS don't lie...Nintendo makes no quality new games for anyone. Enjoy your POS skyward sword port...
If current evidence is correct, they can sell anything as long as it can play ports of Animal Crossing Amiibo Festival or Skyward Sword or Superman 64. Expect broken control sticks, a cheap breakable housing, and no new games for your 400$ investment, if it is even a thing.
@electrolite77 Whenever I post a comment, I think " I can't wait for that jetski guy to defend Nintendo, he must be getting free eshop cards to endorse their lazy practices"
@blindsquarel Animal Crossing I will count. Even though that is the type of game that should be really easy to develop yet it still got delayed. I personally would never play it anyways. Origami Mario is lame, and Age of Calamity is a boring, broken mess intended to sell DLC to completists.
@blindsquarel
Well aware of that but like I said remakes are fine if they still made new games that are great. But they don't. They treat Switch (which is now their ONLY current hardware) like the Mini NES/SNES but for Wii, 3ds, and Wii U games.
There's always this small, strange army of commenters that seem really happy with Nintendo not releasing new AAA content. They must love handing over full price money for old stuff most of us already played. The remakes would be fine for the youngsters if everyone got a fair amount of truly original and universally acclaimed first party content, but that hasn't happened since 2017.
@westman98 I was just saying that you technically are right regardless of your comments' intentions (new hardware exclusives would not be 1st party big games, which is true I agree) there is a decent amount of evidence Nintendo has decided to not produce AAA titles in any meaningful output anymore.
@westman98
You're spot on in a way not intended by your comnent. Nintendo apparently does not currently make AAA games anymore for the existing Switch or any future platform. They probably will cancel anything previously announced. Ports forever and only ports.
TKO APPROVED
Awesome no matter what hardware appears I just hope that maybe they can port all the old games yet again! "Captain Toad: Triple Dip Tracker", "Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze 4k Pro" "Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Redux Saga Enhanced" "Pokken Tournament Third Unaltered Release Edition" "Super Mario 3D 8 year old game Re-release Twice in one year Edition" "Hyrule Warriors: Rise of the eShop Transactions" and so on. And please keep the broken drifting joysticks for nostalgic appeal.
Mario Kart 8 is the only switch port I have purchased , and it was because the battle mode was so improved and I was able to sell my Wii U copy for 45$. Tropical Freeze port release was an absolute low point to me. I already own and have beaten the game and they added nothing but a cheat mode. A new DK game would be awesome but.. sadly no...
@BloodNinja ummm wii u was barren of anything good? You do realize that over half of switch "AAA" games are ports of good wii u games with the net result being Nintendo doesn't bother making new games anymore. That makes no sense.
NOT NINJA APPROVED
Imagine the kind of grotesque arrogance a company must have, to let the centerpiece of their biggest corporate presentation in 500 days be a 10 year old port of an OK game. It's a sad state of affairs, and made worse when they stick Aonuma out there, then be like LOL you don't get what you all want, here's...something really old.
Hard pass, just like Donkey Kong TF, Mario 3d World, and about 50 other ported old games I can just dig this out of my basement for free if I want to play it again. This new lazy, greedy Nintendo the Hutt is not getting my credits for old rehashed games. And if you preorder this because of "scarcity" go check out your local retailer where they have 6,000 copies of "limited" 3d Mario all stars, yet another low effort cash grab from the last few months. Shameful.
I'm glad I stick to good, clean, inoffensive fun like GTA. I saw the rising sun art when I won as Honda when I was 10, and I said "no thank you, insensitive monsters!"
There is strangely always a group of people ready and excited to defend and even applaud Nintendo's shady current business practices. This is why we don't get new or nice things. I will save someone a reply and just tell myself now: I should be happy with a mediocre ten year old game and controllers that are fundamentally defective. Thx
I've been trying to find something positive for hours but other than mediocre Mario Golf this presentation just says "we're happy to alienate the core fans sorry but not sorry...we don't care to spend a dime while making millions off of old rubbish and unfulfilled teases." Sad. Honestly infuriating. Nintendo is happy to do nothing and take your money for the aged rotten scraps it throws out. Disgusting really...but they're making money off of stuff a lot of gamers already paid for....isn't that great? This has been going on for years now. You shouldn't support it.
@GilbertXI possibly true. I sure didn't LIKE 98% of that bloated direct full of remakes, eshop filler, and niche games. If you liked what they are offering good for you. I don't.
@Lute-Waffle really??? I felt like 500+ days would warrant truly special announcements. Not a bunch of shovelware and a remake. I hardly feel spoiled I feel like they've just quit trying.

No surprise. Nintendo doesn't create software anymore. They are now an emulation company reliant on decade old games.
