Re: Video: Capcom’s Retrospective Look At Street Fighter III

1040STF

@moroboshi I think we are a many to feel that Street Fighter Zero 3 Upper is the best 2D Street Fighter ever !
I own it on Saturn too : so many good memories

I guess Upper is not on this compilation because it was adapted in Arcade on the Naomi card. To be on this compilation, it would have required an emulator for itself, as all the 12 other games were released on CPS1/2/3 arcade cards.
I don't get why Capcom didn't made this effort... it would really have been the ultimate compilation.

Re: Review: Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection (Switch)

1040STF

28 characters in Alpha 3...
So no Dee-Jay, Fei-Long, Guile, Thunder Hawk, Shin Akuma, Evil Ryu, like in the "Alpha 3 Upper" version.
And of course no Maki, Eagle, Yun and Ingrid like in the PSP version.

As all my lovely memories of this game come from the Saturn/PS1 which were the "upper" ones, that's a real shame.
I don't know if I will buy it.

Re: Video: Will Super Smash Bros. Switch Be a Port or a Brand New Game?

1040STF

I totally agree with @SLIGEACH_EIRE : it will be version 4.5.

The same game with :

A few new stages (maybe just Splatoon)
A few new characters (maybe just Splatoon again !)
Maybe one or two new modes (local multiplayer at least)
Maybe one or two new options

And that's it.

They usually take one year to tease a new Smash Bros, character after character. If this one is released in September, well, you know it won't be Smash Bros 5.

Re: Soapbox: I'm Secretly Terrified Of An All-Digital Gaming Future

1040STF

As far as I'm concerned, I love physical games (and movies) because I love to have shelves at home. But today I'm more selectiv for movies and I'm testing since a few weeks (since Bayonetta) to turn into a full digital gamer.

Why ?

Because :
1/ I'm running out of place on my shelves
2/ The best support to keep data from time is... hard drives.
3/ Look at the emulation community today. It can't stop growing. If their's a single tiny risk one game can be lost, they will do all they can do to make it available in a way or another. They are so much dedicated, we can trust them.
4/ Games museums and preservation associations have never been so much activ and they are just starting. They will grow bigger and bigger in the next years.
5/ Look at Amiga, Atari ST or Amstrad roms : their are more than ten thousands of them available in a few click on the internet. And how big is their fan community ? Very tiny. So I'm not worried about the preservation of games from Nintendo platforms or Sony's, or Microsoft's. I personnaly don't think any game will be lost.
6/ I like old games. But the real reason to be a gamer is to discover new games I think. If you start only playing old games, well, I'm sorry but you've lost what made you play them in the first place : curiosity.
7/ Their is absolutly no point into being afraid of the future. Enjoy the present

Re: You Can Now Pre-Order An EU Retail Copy Of Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection

1040STF

Di-gi-tal for me. Having always SFZero 3 and SSF2X in my pocket is priceless.

Anyone knows which version of SFZ3 we will have in this compilation ?

Because if it's the first one released in Arcade without 6 characters from the console releases (Dee Jay, Fei Long, T Hawk, Guile, Shin Akuma and Evil Ryu), that would be an missed opportunity from Capcom. It would be even better if the four characters from the GBA/PSP versions were also included (Maki, Eagle, Yun and Ingrid).

Re: Nintendo Switch Is Now The Fast-Selling Console In France With 1 Million Units Sold

1040STF

I live in France and yes, Nintendo is very well implemented here. We had some stock issues for the first weeks but if you wanna buy a Switch today, it's very easy and you can't miss it in stores.

By the way, the Switch shelves have eaten the X-Box One one's. Some major Micromania stores (which are owned by Gamestop) have almost hidden the XBox One shelves in a small dark corner or in the first floor, where nobody goes and where you can find wii, wii u, psp and vita games... They gave that space to the Switch.

A lot of my friends have bought it and rediscover the joy to own a game console in their home, which didn't happen since at best 10 years or even never happened before. I never had so much close friends linked to my account. I find again the pleasure to talk about games with my close friends. Great time to be a gamer, especially with the Switch !

Re: Video: Feast Your Eyes on Bayonetta 2 on Switch Compared to Wii U

1040STF

I think their is a big problem in this comparision, a very common one : ALL Wii U games had washed out colors if you didn't change one option on your TV : the Full RGB/Range one. Because the Wii U only supported Limited range.
If you changed your setting on TV to "Limited range", the colors were again vivid, full of contrast and blacks were black again.

The Switch doesn't need this change of setting on your TV.

I've played Bayonetta 2 for hours on Wii U and I never had washed out colors. So I guess the journalist who did this comparision simply didn't knew about that and forgot to change the color setting.

Re: Random: Paris Hilton Ponders Why We Don't Have Nintendogs On Our Smartphones Yet

1040STF

"A rare moment of clarity"

Well, I disagree. Because as we all know here, Nintendo Apps on mobiles are for marketing purposes, to catch the attention of people on Nintendo products and characters, so they would buy games on 3DS or Switch.

And for the moment, every signs shows that Nintendogs is a dead franchise. And if that's the case, ther's no point for Nintendo to create an Nintendog's app.

Maybe Nintendo will announce a new Nintendogs in the next weeks or months on Switch, and proove me wrong, but I highly doubt that. Nintendogs sounds today too much like a game you only would play on mobile (which explains why Paris Hilton wants it on her iPhone).

Re: Review: The King Of Fighters '96 (Switch eShop / Neo Geo)

1040STF

My first KOF, my first Neo Geo game. And what a treat.

BUT.... I bought the japanese PsOne version, which was almost as great as the Saturn one, and featured the fantastic remix musics from the Neo Geo CD version. And it's such a pity that we can't find this version anywhere today, even on a Raspberry Pi.

I really regret that Hamster does not release the Neo Geo CD versions on Switch.

Re: Review: Arcade Archives Mario Bros. (Switch eShop)

1040STF

Don't worry, Virtual Console isn't dead.
The fact that we have to wait proves only that Nintendo is rethinking it and maybe in a way to do it better than emulation and raspberry pis. We already know Snes and Nes titles will be playable online, which is great news.

Re: Review: Art of Fighting (Switch eShop / Neo Geo)

1040STF

I can't deny I have lovely memories of this game back when it was released.
But it really got old.
Too old.

As your review says, there's far more Neo Geo games available on Switch that are still ridiculously fun to play today. This one has only historical interest.

I hope they will release the not-that-known-but-still-impressive Art of Fighting 3 one of these days.

Re: Picross S Is Headed To Nintendo Switch Later This Month

1040STF

@Wazeddie22

yes, no error at all. If I do 2 or 3 errors, it's because I'm falling asleep while playing But I try again the next day.

I've never done a 2D picross. 3D Round 2 is my first.. We'll... I guess I'll make my own opinion next week.
(but I have to admit that what you say is what I feared)

Re: Picross S Is Headed To Nintendo Switch Later This Month

1040STF

@Wazeddie22 I'm too. Only a few puzzle from the (real) end...
With absolutly NO error on any puzzle, of course

The only regret I have with the Switch, is we might never have a Picross 3D Round 3 because it needs a stylus. (Or does it ? Maybe they'll find a way...)

Re: Video: Digital Foundry Suggests That Rayman Legends: Definitive Edition Isn't So Definitive

1040STF

I own the Wii U, PS4, PS Vita and X-Box One versions of this game.

Yep. That's how much I love it (but I had the X-Box One version for free with Games with Gold, I'm not that sick).

And for me the definitive edition is... the PS Vita version. That's the one I went through the end.

Because :

I don't like to switch my eyes between two screens. I find it not confortable. It takes me out of the game.

I always had a problem with the Wii U's poor quality screen Gamepad. It's not that bad but not great, especially vs the wonderful Vita screen.

I don't like the touch controls on the Wii U Gamepad. I prefer by far the multitouch on the Vita screen. Confort and so gameplay are by far better than on Wii U.

I prefer the graphics of this game on a small screen. It feels far more detailed. On a big screen, I can't help to see the flat zones of colors with no details in it, like "flash" graphics, and I find it a little cheap.

I prefer the sound quality of the PS Vita version.

I only regret from the PS4 version the even better audio quality and the absence of loading times.
I regret from the Wii U version the Mario & Luigi costumes.

But that's it. For me, the PS Vita is far more superior. And after playing the Switch demo, I still thinks that's the case.
