Update: Publisher Microïds has confirmed that Flashback is indeed coming in June. Here's the info:
Microïds and Paul Cuisset are pleased to announce that Flashback, the classic action-adventure game consistently ranked among the best 100 games of all time, will be available on Nintendo Switch starting June 7th, 2018. To celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Super Nintendo version of game, Microïds is releasing a Collector's Edition (in Europe and Australia), which includes the game in physical edition, a retro cartridge style metal case, an exclusive numbered metal card, a 24-page retro-style instruction booklet, the digital soundtrack (remastered version). Pre-orders are now open!
Flashback the story:
2142. After fleeing from a space ship, but stripped of all memory, the young scientist Conrad B. Hart awakens on Titan, a colonised moon of the planet Saturn. His enemies and kidnapers are snapping at his heels, and he has to find a way back to Earth while warding off the dangers that beset him and unravelling a fiendish extra-terrestrial plot that threatens the planet…
In the Nintendo Switch version of Flashback, players will be able to choose between the original 1993 gaming experience and Modern mode, which contains:
+ Post-FX graphic filters,
+ Completely remastered sound and music
+ A brand new "Rewind" function, variable according to the level of difficulty
+ Tutorials for those who need a boost!Flashback will be available from June 7th, 2018 on the Nintendo E-shop and in retail with the 25th Anniversary Collector's Edition. The game is entirely subtitled in English, French, Italian, German, Spanish and is rated PEGI 12.
Original story: Last June, publisher Microïds revealed a whole host of games it plans to bring to Nintendo Switch, including a remaster of 1992 platforming classic, Flashback.
However, if a listing on Amazon Germany is to be believed, we're to be getting the 25th Anniversary edition instead - or perhaps as well as - the 2013 remake. This may be for the best, as the Remastered edition of the game was met with a distinctly lukewarm critical response at launch.
The Amazon listing shows a rather snazzy 25th Anniversary collector's edition, which will retail for €39.99 (that's about £35), and includes a soundtrack, a collector's guide and an awesome case shaped like a cartridge. It's also got a release date of 7th June. It looks pretty legit, and a great way to belatedly celebrate the game's quarter-century anniversary.
We've reached out to publisher Microïds about this new release and Flashback: Remastered, and will update this story when we have some solid intel.

YES!!!! Loved that game, played it on my Acorn 4000 back in the day. Would buy this in a heartbeat. My wallet and game backlog is getting a pounding lately.
This is like all the things you can fit inside a memory
One of my favourite ever games
If it IS the original, then it’s an automatic day one for me!
I loved this game back in the day. Will grab day 1.
Hopefully it contains the original
great !! Anotherworld was announced, now flashback. All we now need is a remaster of Fade to Black and a remaster of Heart of Darkness
If it's the original....then TAKE MY MONEY!
If it's the remaster...meh.
@ktej75 Oh yeah, these were both awesome. I still have Heart of Darkness...pretty, but oh so hard!
Great game, lots of memorization. I wish I had it on Jaguar. (not a joke)
Sold. I remember playing and loving it back in the day on my Megadrive. Great game
I have it on SNES so no-buy for me. Originally played it on Sega Mega Drive or Genesis if you will, but never beat it. Bought it 2-3 years ago and still haven't beat it. Great game though.
I only ever rented the original on the Mega Drive and didn’t get very far. I was impressed by the intro and graphics. It played similar to games like Prince of Persia. Would love to get this version and play it to the end.
The remaster contained the original game as a hidden feature.
But I would prefer the original game to contain the remaster as a hidden feature.
Very hidden.
Cool! This was my game back in the day, I mean waaay back. I'll was 14 then. I look for it
pre-order is open? WHERE???
Ok, asked them on Twitter and they say for UK it will be on Amazon.co.uk soon, therefore their tweet is lies!
Oh please let this come to the US.
>EU collector's edition
>US SNES cart
Yes I want this, please bring it to me.
"To celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Super Nintendo version of game..."
WAIT WAIT WAIT : the Nintendo version was way less good than the Sega one. So I hope the Switch edition comes from the Sega version.
Question is where to preorder from? (UK)
Btw, in case anyone is curious, the bugs this game had on the Super NT have been worked out and will fixed in the next firmware update! (Kevtris is a beast)
Think I borrowed this off a friend to play on the Amiga. Not quite as magical as Another World, but there's a lot more game there. Think I just got stuck and stopped playing it. At the right eShop price, I'd be tempted to give it another crack.
Sold. I hope Another World gets a physical too!
"After fleeing from a space ship, but stripped of all memory, the young scientist Conrad B. Hart"
What?? He's not a scientist. He was working for the Galactic bureau of Investigation. That's how he even found out about the Morph invasion. lol.
Also, he didn't flee a spaceship, he runs from a facility deep in the jungles of Titan. Did the ppl making this even play the original?
I haven't actually played that one. Might pick it up.
@smashboy2000 @Hikingguy This will be based on the PC version, they are just mentioning the Super NES version cause that was the only Nintendo version out there before this one. It's similar to how Capcom celebrate Street Fighter 30th anniversary, they are bringing the collection to Nintendo Switch cause there were Street Fighter games on Super NES but the actual games on the collection are based on their arcade versions.
The Megadrive version was better that the SNES version. I so hope this is not the SNES Version!
Watched my brother play this on the Sega CD in the early 90's. Pretty awesome game. I think I may pick it up.
@Gerald The Sega CD version toppled them both as the sound was superior. Great memories.
@BensonUii It's kind of a rip-off of both Prince of Persia and Another World. Jordan Mechner and Eric Chahi were a little pissed, especially Eric, who worked with the same publisher and the game was done behind his back so he couldn't ask for a share in profits; despite similarities in concept, design, and worst of all using some of his code.
I never got around to playing this. Is it as short as Another World? In other words, is it a game that will take hours on a first play-through but can be completed in about 20 minutes once you know what you're doing? If so, I wouldn't pay £35 for it (although that collector's edition does look nice).
@Monkey_Balls It's longer, and easier to complete. But that comment is lol. It took me years to complete Another World as I began playing it when I was like five; but it's very fun to blaze through the game nowadays, quite a ride even if you're familiar with all the obstacles.
Both Another World and Flashback have graphics and what we would nowadays call in-game cutscenes that were way ahead of their time, with Another World basically building upon the cinematic platformer foundations set by Prince of Persia, despite Chahi not having played the game during development.
Very cool, I loved this on SNES way back in the day!
Great game, but where to pre-order is Aus?
Sweet! I loved this game on my SNES!
@LemonSlice Ha, I had Another World on the SNES and it frustrated me for months. I downloaded it on Wii U - while the first play-through was tough (I'd forgotten what to do), I blitzed through it in just over 20 minutes when I showed it to a friend. Unfortunately that meant he wasn't impressed with the game, despite me praising it as being a classic.
Prince of Persia is another SNES game that drove me nuts. I gave up on it but my Dad was almost obsessed with beating the game; he spent months drawing maps and planning out the routes. Funny really, as he always said videogames were a waste of time, but I'd often find him having sneaky goes on my SNES games...
I might pick up Flashback at some point; I've always wanted to play it.
I picked thus up for the Jag a few months ago and it’s every bit as good as I remembered it. Great addition to the Switch library.
@ktej75 and Blackthorn!
