Re: Random: Nintendo NX Rumours From French Media and an Analyst Report, While Zelda Williams Fends Off Anxious Fans

The Yoshi/Raving Rabbits crossover sounds very possible to me. As I worked with Ubisoft 15 months ago (as a freelance), they teased me something that "will please me", because I just explained how much I loved Nintendo AND Rayman. They didn't say much more, hélas. But it was clear a crossover between those two universes was coming.

I believed at that time they meant Rayman would come to Smash Brosh... but, as everybody knows, it never happened. And I heard no news in the press about a crossover until today in this rumour. So it might be it.

Re: Nintendo NX Production Reportedly Pushed Back To 2017 To Incorporate Virtual Reality

I personally don't believe anything from this rumor.

Nintendo had troubles with Wii U partly because they tried to get closer to what Microsoft and Sony did (second-screen principle excluded). Their biggest success are the most innovative products like GameBoy, DS or Wii, based on aging technologies used in a different way. The only thing we know for sure about NX is that it's something new, that they go into new waters. They said it.

So going Virtual Reality when everyone is going to VR : I don't believe a single word of that.

Dungeons & Dragons: Chronicles of Mystara for me ! I prefer to buy it on Wii U than PS3.

Retropixel gaming is perfect on the Wii U Gamepad... And there are more chances that Wii U games will be backward compatible with NX. Not as PS3 games with PS4...

@Ryu_Niiyama "a site aimed to english readers" ? We all read English my friend. I'm french, all my french friends who own a Nintendo console read Nintendolife, and it's the same in spain, germany, italy, ...

It's an INTERNATIONAL website. As English is an international language.

As for the problem of the language in the game, yeah, it's a problem. Because perfectly reading english doesn't mean you will easily find the words the game ask you for.
So yeah, that could be very useful to write in its review that the game is strictly in english and that it could be an issue for foreigners, as it will be sold in all international eshops.

Re: Talking Point: Is Konami About To Exit The Console Game Business?

@Quorthon Nintendo always wants to secure its far future. As of today, their catalog is not enough to generate Wii U sales, even if the games are great.
They know they have to diversify. And it won't be only through smartphones.

That's why I think new IPS will come. Splatoon and Codename Steam are the first steps to launch big series. Even if Splatoon doesn't sell very well, it doesn't matter. What matter is that the game is good and appreciated. So buzz will generate and the annoucement of Splatoon 2 will have a bigger impact.
They have to rectify their shot with CodeName Steam and they will (it already has started with patchs and free DLC I think).

So, getting new ip's as popular as Konami's, if they were to sell, is in their interest. If so, Nintendo would ask itself for each of those IP "Is their a future for it ?". The answer for Metal Gear and Silent Hill is obviously "yes", because Nintendo doesn't have that kind of game in their catalog. It would be harder to get a proper answer for Castlevania because they have Metroid, but it's still a strong and popular ip.

Well, that's my opinion if someone asks me to what could lead such a decision as Konami's one to leave the video game business. They haven't for now

This analysis makes total sense. If it's true, I hope Konami will sell its catalog to another company. Like Sony or Nintendo, who would take great care of it.
I say Nintendo because I think they're gonna diversify their catalog a lot in the next years (imho the Wii U is the last hardware with only the usual catalog titles - they won't make the same mistake again) and yes, they could make a huge Silent Hill if they wanted to. Signs show they're more and more interested in more-mature games. It could be their opportunity to acquire hugely-loved-but-abandoned licences and orchestrate their rebirth. And to bring us the new Parodius we are all waiting for

Re: Weirdness: Street Fighter's Ryu is Now Being Rumoured as Future DLC in Super Smash Bros.

@Wonder-Redhead @FragRed Except that Capcom doesn't intend to release different versions of the game in the way you say. They were screwed by the architecture of the first SF4 which couldn't allow the digital updates. They changed that with Super Street IV, which can get huge updates as it did with Arcade Edition or Ultra.
And Street Fighter V will be like that : the next versions will only be updates. The name of the game might change (Super, Hyper, Ultra, ...) but it will be only be updates. So no, don't expect SF5 or its evolutions to come on another machine than PS4.

Re: The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask 3D Download Size Is Surprisingly Dainty

Ocarina of Time 3D was 512MB.

As for the difference with the N64 Rom :

  • Not the same resolution as N64.
  • More textures. And textures take A LOT of space. (and that's the only reason PS4 games need around 40Gb install place)
  • And... I don't know about musics and sounds but I think they take more space ? It was still something like midi on N64 (remember WipeOut which had loading time to unpack each music because they were NOT midi).

Super Castlevania IV is a very nice game... who aged. It's still a very good nostalgia moment for those who played it when it was released and it might still catch the interest of the others, enough to be played till its final credits. But its gameplay feels now very very old.

In my opinion, Castlevania Bloodlines (Genesis) is a little more interesting, Dracula X (Nec, Super Nes) is far more challenging and fascinating, and the masterpiece of the saga still is Symphony of the Night (PSone, Saturn)...
