SOLD! Shameless SF2 clone, but Mizoguchi was satisfying to play.
That's all the confirmation I needed to securely know the release schedule until the end of the year. Next week we are in for some shiryus treat!
@GrailUK Mizoguchi got his own game exclusive on Super Famicom, truly my favourite character!
Not going to bother with this one, waiting for Last Blade which I think releases in 2 weeks. Next week we have Soccer Brawl.
@Shiryu Ow, didn't know about the Snes game! I'm gonna have to look that up What is releasing in December???
@GrailUK Come on, I don't want to spoil everyone just yet, so keep a look out on NL for reports on what is coming one week in advance.
When I first heard of Karnov's Revenge I thought it was a sequel to this game. Oh how disappointed I was.
@retro_player_22 Just look at that box art! That poor Bulgarian wrestler/Indiana Jones baddie has got himself into a right spot of bother.
That game has Arcade hit! written all over it
@Shiryu I'm thinking I might be wrong on Soccer Brawl coming next week. That doesn't sound like it would be "Shiryu's treat"?I saw the release order last week too but now I can't find it.
It IS "Soccer Brawl"! As a huge fan of "Speedball 2", I cant but love that game!
Who makes the new geo games, and who decided to put them on the Switch?
@Rontanamo_Bay Maybe Hamster will release it in their Arcade Archives. One day. (Oh and if they could release Atomic Runner also, that would be ace.)
This fighter was fun, but I didn’t put nearly as much time into this as the original Karnov cab and cart. My only hang up as a kid was that Karnov reminded me of the Iron Sheik, and I despised him (he was a great heel). “Sheik-y Baby will break your back and humble you. Aaaack-tooie.”
This game is a guilty pleasure.
@GrailUK Mizoguchi wins!
@Wayoh2002 They were made by a variety of developers but SNK, the developers of the hardware were the most prolific. Hamster are the ones porting them to Switch but the decision to bring them was a joint one from Mr Gerbil CEO and Guinea Pig-San, the creative rodent.
@Shiryu As a huge, sorry enormous fan of Speedball 2 that makes me happy.
@OorWullie @Shiryu Ice cream!
I have always heard people talk about this.... will have to give it a try
Yep, good game. I had a lot of fun with it between two sessions of KOF98 back in 1998.
@GrailUK ICE CREAM! I SCREAM!
@Damo Nice report, but not even 1 in-game picture or some embedded youtube footage?
Hadn't realised this one was coming. Think I know about 4 other ACA Neo Geo Switch games announced by Hamster. The aforementioned futuristic footie game, now this Karnov fighter and stuff like Last Blade and that co-op action platformer where you get to jump in mechs. So does that leave the door open for 1 or 2 more as yet unannounced Neo Geo surprises for Switch to round out the rest of 2017?
Actually, scratch that. I had forgotten this Karnov fighter had been previously announced under an alternative title along with the latest slate of releases:
"Seven more NeoGeo games are on the way. We can look forward to Art of Fighting 3: The Path of the Warrior (already released), Street Hoop (released last week), Fighter’s History Dynamite (coming this week), Soccer Brawl (Nov), World Heroes (Nov), Top Hunter: Roddy & Cathy (Dec), and The Last Blade (Dec)." (Taken from NintendoEverything)
So that leave two Thursdays at the end of December for potentially two more unannounced Neo Geo games. Any guesses as to what they'll be?
At a glance I too thought it was the original Karnov Arcade game! Hopefully Hamster will get a hold of the older Data East classics like burger time, Joe N Mac, Atomic Runner etc like they just did with the Irem games!! Hopefully...
@retro_player_22 Add me as someone who fell for this as well Haha
I used to play this at my local video store. Tiger Bazooka!
@Lroy Yea, at least http://Nintendoeverything.com seem to report timely on new Hamster ports and release schedules.
Isn't that the Russian dude who breathes fire?
@retro_player_22
I was going to say the same exact thing. I really would have preferred a sequel to this game or at least a remaster of the original. Instead we get more shovelware.
Dang, I thought it was a sequel to the original Karnov too lol
I would really love to see the Double Dragon Neo Geo released on Switch, and Karnov's Revenge gives me some hope that could happen. If it happened to be the Neo Geo CD version, that'd be even cooler.
