Re: Ubisoft Wants Your Input On Future Nintendo Switch Software Support

They have to understand that a Switch game is not forced to be as beautiful as a PS4 game. The fun part with the Switch is to take the game on the go.

So if they could release a bunch of their next AAA games day and date with the PS4/X1 versions, even if they are less beautiful (as long as they have a constant framerate), it would be a great test to see if those Switch ports sell or not.

If they do that, if those Switch ports meet success, if the other third-party publishers have finally the proof that they can release low-graphics versions of their AAA games on Switch and that they will meet success, then the Switch will be a wide success.

PS : Please Ubi, I'm talking about NEW games released day and date with the PS4/X1/PC versions. If you release Watchdogs 2 for 50$/€ as we can find it for 15 bucks on PS4 since months, it won't make any sense. No one will buy it. So it's too late for For Honor or Ghost Recon Widelands. (maybe it's ok for Rainbox Six)

"The talented team at Shin'en Multimedia have pushed the Switch to its limits"

F**** me, the Switch has reached its technicals limits on day one !!! o___0

Seriously, please, don't write that. Some people might actually believe it.
This game is not reaching the limits of the Switch. If they can do this game today, they'll be able to do far better in the next months ands years. That's the rule.

  • Super Mario World 2 > Super Mario World
  • Perfect Dark > Mario 64
  • Breath of the Wild Wii U > Windwaker HD
  • and so on.

His remark about the Vita is funny ... and relevant in a way he doesn't expect. I personnaly think Switch is the Vita killer. All J-RPGS and indies that make the Vita live are going to get a huge success on Switch I bet. There's already a ton of them announced.

So, even if the Switch has bigger ambitions, I think all the Vita's fans are going to .. well.. switch... to the Nintendo Switch.

Re: The Retro-Bit Generations Portable is Expected in July

@retro_player_22 That's exactly why I say I would buy a second Switch just for that. To block its firmware evolution.

It would be the ultimate retro machine because you could take it with you everywhere, play on a good quality screen and with great controls. Or play on your tv. It would ´t be as cheap as those retro-console we see in stores, like the retro5 or the one in this news, or the neo geo X, etc etc.

I don't see the point on transforming a Wii U into a hacked retro console. A Raspberry Pi would be enough. They would both lack the nomad functions of a Switch.

You could also argue that my dream retro console already exist : the nvidia shield. But it would lack the physical controls on-the-go that the Switch has.

So I stay on my position : if someone succeed into hacking the Switch, it would become the ultimate retro-console

Am I the only one who dreams that the Switch is hacked and become the ultimate hardware to emulate a lot of old games, from Nes to PS1, like a Raspberry Pi do ? Just imagine that. For one second. With the Switch portable/home concept fully used. With all the controllers possibilities. See what I mean ?

I think I could buy a second Switch just dedicated to that

An unofficially confirmed rumor (but coming from multiple trustable sources) says from a long time (1 year I guess) that the Switch's dev kits allows developpers to adapt very easily big games to its power. So yes, adapting a AAA game on Switch or from the 1080p to the 720p configuration is not automatic, but it would be very very easy, especially compared to adapting a PC game to a PS4 or X-Box 1.

That easy conversion would apply to adapting a big AAA PC game to the Switch itself. So yes, it would mean that a third party developper won't have to spend a lot of money on the Switch's versions of the games. That includes a Dark Souls 3

And that's very good.

I was there and it was just display. But they were really cute !
There was also Rabbids South Park for exemple (and you can see them in the video). But maybe that's a sign, indeed

(I have great shots of them taken with my iPhone if you want them by e-mail to use in your article)

What was really interesting and is not in the video, is that they showed there videos of cancelled games, including Killer Freaks, for the first time !

@Damo (I just changed my id )

For a real party, with 30 people (that's what I call a party), of course not. But as we gathered with 2-3 or even 6-8 friends, yeah, we can play Mario Kart all night or PS VR as we did this week-end. OK in my case we drink too but I know some groups of people who don't.

(and i'm 37 too) (in three days)
