Nintendo's Virtual Boy was an inarguably strange system, although mentioning its name can elicit markedly different responses. To many, the little tabletop non-HMD is little more than a punchline; a hilarious blink-and-you'll-miss-it example of Nintendo toying with an idea that was sabotaged from the off by hopelessly inadequate component technology. For others, this black and red 32-bit experiment was a brave failure and a console curio that still elicits pangs of retro-futuristic nostalgia and hardware fetishism.
For European Nintendo fans, it's arguably become more than a mere retro gaming oddity. The Virtual Boy is an enigma — a Nintendo console we heard about but never experienced firsthand. Of course, many Japanese and North American gamers will joke that we dodged a bullet on that one, but the console's history and small library of just 22 games still has an attraction for fans who never got the chance to see just how 'bad' it really was. It's still a Nintendo product, and however much the company dropped the ball, there must be something interesting about such a quirky console.
And yes, there are some gems in the Virtual Boy's slender library, although few people will have played them. Nintendo has had a couple of opportunities to showcase them, though.
The arrival of the 3DS felt like the perfect opportunity to let everyone in on the 'secret', and a little compilation of the best Virtual Boy games would have given a new generation a taste of a console that could be generously described as ahead of its time — or at least ahead of the affordable consumer tech needed to make it a success. Even in territories where Virtual Boy did see the light of day, it sold so poorly that many players won't have had the chance to sample games like Teleroboxer or the excellent Virtual Boy Wario Land.
So, a couple of ports (or even separate series along the lines of the excellent 3D Classics) on a successful handheld console which features in-built glasses-free autostereoscopic 3D seems like a no-brainer, right? Right? Apparently not, because a 3DS Virtual Boy compilation never materialised.
Then we got a little Easter Egg in the Labo VR Kit — another 'crazy' Nintendo experiment — and we dared to dream it might indicate a little compilation release. Nothing major, just a nod to Nintendo's VR history. But no, not a bean.
To say that Nintendo has ignored the system and its library completely wouldn't be quite true; it's been mentioned it on social media, and the Virtual Boo in Luigi's Mansion 3 was a fantastic tribute to the 25-year-old console. Not that you could play games on it — perhaps that was one horror too far for a family friendly fright fest.
We jest! The whole point is we really want to be able to play these games again, remember?! In recent times we've seen fans take the situation into their own hands, from console mods that output to a television to full emulation using modern day VR headsets like the Oculus Rift. It's heartening to see fans enabling access to these retro treasures that are otherwise locked away, but how we'd love to see Nintendo itself put out something official. Enough time has passed; we've seen the company go up and down and up again on the console rollercoaster several times since the mid-'90s — surely it's the perfect time to tap into the '90s nostalgia.
So how could Nintendo make VB software accessible again? Well, the ship has sailed on any sort of 3DS release, but Nintendo Switch Online feels like an ideal place to showcase these games. Sure, we're still waiting for N64 games to appear, not to mention Game Boy, GBA and more — plus further additions to the existing libraries — but a Virtual Boy package featuring Mario Clash, Mario Tennis and the other Nintendo-published exclusives would be such a treat for longtime retro fans and enthusiasts. Throw in some Labo VR support for a more 'authentic' experience and we've come the full circle on weird Nintendo-ass experiments.
We'd jump at the chance to revisit this intriguing period of the company's history. Would you? Let us know in the poll below.
Reckon these 'forgotten' games should remain where they are and that we're barking mad to want access to them? Which Virtual Boy games would you fire up if they were on Switch? Let us know below.

I’d play wario land VB and jack bros. Other games probably not.
I need the "If they had been released on the 3DS I would have" option.
I would play them but it would have to be all of them in one collection. I wouldn't spend $5 here or $7 there. I would gladly pay say $30 for them all.
Nope. 99% of these games were trash. We should keep them in the history.
It would be the same as asking if the CDi Zelda games should be released on Switch.
Nintendo is probably the only company that would probably make a VR headset that isn't $600+ or something. I have always wanted to give VR a try, but as of right now I cannot afford a headset. i love watching videos of VR games, but I can never justify a purchase of a new gaming console/device unless it is $200 to $300, and that is once every couple of years (so roughly as often as Nintendo releases a new system).
So in short, yeah I probably would give Nintendo VR games a try. Always been wanting to get into VR myself, but never could.
There are too few hours in the day to waste on old Virtual Boy games.
It would be interested to check out historical sake alone but I doubt it'll keep my attention for more then a couple of hours.
They missed the opportunity to do it on 3DS… if they didn’t do it for 3DS, I don’t know when would make that much sense to release them again.
Definitely, and should have been on 3DS.
To be fair, they could just do a remake of Warioland VB with Shake Dimension's art style (or any art style really) and that'd probably suffice for most of us.
@Natsura
Oculus Quest 2 says hi.
Entry fee is like $300.
Sure the arguable better strap adds cost to it but based on my experience and others experience with the elite strap snapping. Get use to the fabic one.
I do play them in 2021 on my Oculus quest and they are amazing. When you experience these games on hardware that actually does them justice and as they were intended it is breathtaking how advanced this system was for the time.
Absolutely! I always hoped they would release them on the 3DS. Though I probably would only be interested in playing Mario Clash and Warioland.
@Natsura Let me tell you something, if you tried it you would be happy to pay £1000 for it. V.R gaming and just in general is absolutely amazing.
There's a handful of legitimately good and interesting games on the platform, but the time to release whatever is worth salvaging was on the 3DS. Maybe if Labo VR had taken off or maybe came bundled with it, but that time has passed too.
100% yes. Would love this as part of Labo VR.
Sure, I mean why the hell not, the more games the better.
@Miyamotosan Ok this needs to happen.
I’d give them a shot.
Frankly I don't think it would be worth the effort of porting them to the Switch simply because of the lack of 3D and the controls would not work well at all. You do NOT want to sully the experience of playing Red Alarm without 3D, dual D-Pads, and awful neck cramps.
I would absolutely go for them. I'd want the 3d though.
One regret I've had for a while is, apparently, I was offered a VB for $14. I don't actually remember saying no, but it seems that's the answer that got through.
They'd get 5 minutes of my time out of curiosity, but as there are still a number of games on the SNES/NES apps with no minutes logged against them, the honest answer is probably not. Too little free time, too many great games.
Genuinely saddened they never tasked M2 to port the games to 3DS. There were some decent titles for the system, the hardware itself was the awkward part.
Telero Boxing was awesome and I'd get it just for that.
It's worth mentioning that the 3DS has fewer control inputs and a totally different layout than the VB controller. It would never have worked well enough to be worth it with most games.
It's worth adding them, but probably as a single compilation of all the games in one. Anything else seems a bit desparate and money-grabbing imo.
If its either tetris games warioland or jack bros then absolutely
VB Wario Land is an utter masterpiece, quite possibly the best platformer Nintendo has ever made.
@GameManAdvance Still, with a little remapping of the controls, I think it would have been very cool to see these games in a compilation for 3DS that allowed them to be displayed in stereoscopic 3D. The Wario game is still very impressive even today, which I know from having tried it running in an emulator in my VR headset that actually allowed me to view it in proper stereoscopic 3D as if I were looking through an actual Virtual Boy (without the eye strain and headaches) and with controls that actually map basically perfect to the Oculus Touch controllers.
@Noid A slight stretch, but it is actually very cool. The stereoscopic 3D and the way it's implemented into the levels and gameplay design is still impressive today imo.
I always imagined these reasoning for them not being ported to anything else was technical reasons. But then I think there's also virtual boy emulators? So I don't know. I think it could definitely work and I'd love to try the games that way.
That being said I have an imported virtual boy and I've played it a bit here and there but it's truly uncomfortable. Dunno what the big N was thinking with this one.
Not interested when it came out, not interested now.
I really feel the Switch Pro will have a headset dock and offer VR gameplay. It would be cool to experience these as they were meant. Some of those games actually hold up.
Jack Bros remake yeah I would play that
VB Wario Land and Jack Bros. alone would make resurrecting the Virtual Boy library worth it.
I’d play teleroboxer again. Maybe galaxy pinball and red alarm. Maybe Nester’s Funky Bowling.
I probably would play mario clash again, definite if they added a two player mode. I would play mario tennis again if they added a two player mode.
And yes, like everyone else, I admit VB Wario Land and Jack Bros are worth it.
I loved Red Alert, even though I had no idea where I was going. haha. Wario Land was great, and I really liked Nester's Funky Bowling and Mario Tennis too. I still play my VB from time to time. It's a misunderstood console.
The Switch has gotten novelty crap from failed systems like Night Trap, so the time is right for a Virtual Boy compilation. My library of VB games is Mario Tennis, Mario Clash, Wario Land, Teleroboxer, and 3D Tetris. Of those only Wario and Teleroboxer are worth playing today. But they're also short, black & red, and probably wouldn't sell super well unless Nintendo priced them at $5 or less which they surely would not.
For a system with so few games, there are many gems like Wario Land, Mario Clash, Galactic Pinball, Teleroboxer, Red Alarm and others (never got to play Jack Bros and I wish Zero Racers, Bound High and Dragon Hopper had been released). Yes, they are all short, arcade like experiences, but that's exactly the point, since the devs knew the system could not be played for long períods of time.
I think they missed the chance to release them on the 3DS Virtual Console, that was the perfect place for them being a stereoscopic 3D system.
I definitely would. Wario Land and Teleroboxer are on my wishlist.
@impurekind Don't get me wrong, they could definitely have gotten some VB games to work well on 3DS. But I speak from experience when I say the controls wouldn't work for a lot of the games worth playing. I own a VB with 6 games. Wario Land and Mario Clash would port just fine but games like Teleroboxer, Red Alarm, and others that utilized the Dual D-Pad setup would never work with a 3DS or a modern standard layout controller. Dual analog would be better, but still not ideal. I suppose they could exclude those games from a compilation but that would be a shame.
@YANDMAN my personal experience was not this.
I've tried Occulus and PSVR several times and my experience was that it was just ok. It didn't seem to add much on the whole and made me face very hot and eventually I got kind of nauseous a little. I also have several friends and family that have tried it and immediately felt ill. for those who love it it is great and I'm glad it's being supported, but it's not something I'd recommend anyone just buy.
That being said, @Natsura I wouldn't go via a Virtual Boy or the LABO VR as a judge of VR on the whole. Both are fun in short bursts but the VB does induce headaches and the LABO's low rez doesn't help with motion sickness.
Great idea but what's the point, I have VB games on my Raspberry pi emulation setup. But with out the 3D effect they aren't really playable or enjoyable as they should be. The whole idea of depth that these games give is completely lost.
I’d like to see a Wario Land remake. No VR for me though. It makes me sick. I’m still interested in seeing the games, but just free of VR.
Regarding the release of Virtual Boy titles on the 3DS, a shareholder asked about this on the 73rd Annual General Meeting of Shareholders.
Q3: I have been waiting for the return of Virtual Boy ever since the launch of the Virtual Console service for Nintendo 3DS. Do you have any concrete plans? I would like you to look into the possibility since I feel that there is a fairly large number of people in my generation and later generations who have not played Virtual Boy.
A3 Iwata: I cannot talk about any unannounced products on occasions like this, but Virtual Boy is a game console Nintendo launched in the past that allows players to experience a 3D world in black and red only by just looking into it. It was not a commercial success, but some say that it was an attractive and extremely unique product by the standards at that time. I believe your comment is that we should take advantage of our software assets from Virtual Boy and I would like to take note of that advice for the future.
https://www.nintendo.co.jp/ir/en/stock/meeting/130627qa/index.html
I would have on the 3DS .
I wish they had brought some VB titles to 3DS. It was kind of a missed opportunity.
I can always do with more Wario Land in my life
Not so sure about the other titles
I wouldn’t want to play it as it was intended as a “VR game”, I mean modern VR games give me headaches quite quickly, so I could only imagine what a Virtual Boy game would do. But I would like to have a go at that Wario game.
I wouldn't waste my time on them. They've outdated and not really designed for being played in 2021
the ones like the Mario game. then yes.
I'd play them. I enjoy playing all my Nintendo systems and would love a good reason to fire up the Virtual Boy.
If anything, Nintendo should have released these for the 3DS, and that ship has long sailed.
Frankly, I think it's bizarre that anybody would think that the Switch would be a suitable home for the VB library, unless Nintendo have a non-Labo VR headset in the works...
Not doing this to be hipster or ironic, I genuinely think Galactic Pinball for the virtual boy is the best Pinball video game and is in my top 50 games of all time.
Being in the EU I missed out entirely, and don’t fancy the cost of importing a second hand one, but I emulated some of the games and am gutted they never did anything on the 3DS for these curios.
Mario Clash was a lot of fun! I’d probably spend way too much time playing these haha
out of sheer curiosity, i would absolutely play them.
Honestly, if Nintendo didn't think it was worth releasing a compilation for 3DS, there's little point. I recall only the Wario game got good a review, and that was because it was so similar to the solid gameboy games.
@sanderev not even a remotely accurate comparison. There were quite a few very good games for the Virtual Boy. Most were at least ok, only a handful were bad and then, only a few were outright trash. I don't remember any on the level of the CDi bad. Water World may have come close.
I actually own the system. Picked one up from Blockbuster when they stopped carrying them. I owned pretty much all of the releases, even the Japanese games (I lived in NYC at the time and there were great import games stores in Chinatown). The issues was the tech in the system, not the games. Have you ever actually played a Virtual Boy?
Space Squash, Jack Bros, Panic Bomber, Red Alarm, Mario's Tennis, Vertical Force, Mario Clash, Galactic Pinball, Nester' Funky Bowling, 3D Tetris, Golf... these are all good to great games and a lot of fun.
It would be fantastic news and a great bit of game preservation if these were officially released. New 3DS XL would have been the obvious choice, but a Switch release would be nice. Ultimately, if Nintendo has fully sworn off of 3D, official releases on VR systems could be a money maker for them and a great way to play them as intended, only better.
Definitely not. I’d much, much, much rather see GBA or GameCube games on the switch than this.
The wario land game was so good
@Silly_G why bizzare? Labo VR support and 3D glasses would make it completely viable. It would be a great way for Nintendo to add value to the online service, offering 3D glasses to subscribers. And maybe a limited edition of more robust 3D goggles playfully shaped roughly like the Virtual Boy for purchase by
subscribers only, like the NES and SNES controllers. Not bizzare at all.
I wouldn't play the games even if they paid me. The Virtual Boy is the definition of a useless console.
My red-black colourblindness says no.
For someone that did have a Virtual Boy, a remake of the games would be great- Wario Land, Nester's Funky Bowling, Red Alarm would be great on the Nintendo Switch Online service OR in a collection.
I actually had a VB with Warioland and Mario Tennis. Nothing else. Completed both, could rent from Blockbuster, but was more interested in SNES games.
If they rerelease VB games, as long as it’s not all red and black, I’ll play. Fried my eyes playing it.
@sanderev 99%? VB Wario Land, Teleroboxer, Jack Bros, Space Squash, Red Alarm, Vertical Force were excelent. Insmouse no Yakata, Galactic Pinball, Mario's Tennis, V Tetris, Panic Bomberman and Virtual Fishing were Good. The rest (the 8 that i did not list) were okay, except Waterworld and Virtual Lab that were absolutely terrible.
If they were going to rerelease those games, the 3DS would have been the perfect platform to release them on. Not sure how the 3D effect would work on the Switch.
This was not even released in my country back in the day, Australia.
I wish I had an actual Virtual Boy, so I would totally play them. It's the only Nintendo console/handheld that I don't have at least some form of. They're so expensive now and most of them don't work. Looking back at when these were on clearance when I was a kid and not grabbing one is a regret.
I always thought teleroboxer was an underrated Punchout clone. I mean, it's not as good as Punchout, but it's still really solid. I'd play Wario Land again for sure. I never got around to playing Mario Clash, or at least I don't remember it if I did. So, yeah; I'd have a bit of interest.
Yes but preferably in 3D. As others have pointed out, would've been perfect to have on 3DS. If they released in 2D I'd probably only care about Wario Land. But in 3D sure release them all!
Nintendo already missed their golden opprutunity to do so on the 3DS, so... :/
What's even worse is, AFAIK, no one in the Homebrew scene was really able to develop a good emulator for the poor console on there either, making it one of the most forgotten efforts by not only Nintendo, but the general public as well, which is just a total shame...
Sure, why not. Most of them ironically didn't rely on 3D all that much, what I've tried to emulate before looked decent unless you're truly allergic to the red and black palette (although I suppose even that could be adjusted?).
And to address other commenters' dramatic comparisons, I wouldn't mind giving the CDi Zeldas a run either. Especially since they still feature the only playable Zelda this side of crossover games.
Only if it had different color options. Way too hard on the eyes.
Heck yes! VB wario land & jack bros deserve a chance to shine!
@BloodNinja most of these could have been done on the gameboy
@sanderev but the cdi Zelda games are beautiful... Morshu isn't happy with you.
There are like 3 games worth playing out of the entire library of 22, and I'm pretty sure half of them wouldn't make the cut due to licensing issues. It's a tough call. Probably as a bonus for Switch Online membership, otherwise I'm fine with unofficial emulators.
For the chance to play Virtual Boy Wario Land and Teleroboxer? Absolutely!
Watching AVGN's review of the system and the games tells me all I need to know about the Virtual Boy. That being said, I would like to try a few of the games out, like Jack Bros.
I would have tried the 3D Virtual Boy games had Nintendo wisely put them on their 3D 3DS. Duh, Nintendo. Duh.
When crafting their 3D Classics, they chose Urban Champion. I'd have gone with Rad Racer, an actual 3D NES game (with those swell glasses). Duh, Nintendo. Duh
I'd check them out at least. Virtual Boy Wario Land has especially caught my interest.
Lol at the "I would not sully myself or my barge pole with such filth" option.
I own a Virtual Boy I bought back in 2017. It works, but unfortunately it's missing the stand and the black visor. Right now I own Mario's Tennis twice and Galactic Pinball. If the opportunity ever arises, I'd like to mod mine to have the TV output and the ability to change the red color.
I'd definitely pay money to play Teleroboxer, Mario Clash, Virtual Boy Wario Land and Jack Bros.
As others have said, it's a shame these didn't come out during the 3DS days. Maybe in the future when Nintendo really embraces VR these games can make a comeback.
A game like Neo Drive would be good for it
Uhhh. No. No, I think not.
3DS yes, Switch no.
Is there a Emulator for VR-Headsets?
If Nintendo Re-Released the Virtual Boy console I would buy it instantly!!!
Wario Land yes.
Red Alarm maybe
The rest.... no
I'm still sour that Virtual Boy games never came to 3DS. That was the one time they could have been released in their best form, with stereoscopic 3D and perhaps even in proper color. What a shame of a missed opportunity!
As downloads: Yes
As Nintendo Online only stuff that's just living in the cloud: No
This was a missed opportunity of the 3DS. I had a VirtualBoy when they came out. The games were fun, but the headache was real. My eyes would hurt after just about ten minutes of play. They should have released the games on 3DS with it's capabilities. I think they would look like ***** on Switch.
Like others have said, these would have fit the 3DS perfectly. Another nice little earner for Nintendo. I just cannot understand why one of the head honchos at Nintendo never thought of it, but there again, it is Nintendo we are talking about. No GBA games available on Switch either, so they obviously hate money.
If they were on the Nintendo Online service, and if they supported LABO VR, then yes, I would. ^^
I would have way preferred them release Virtual Boy Virtual Console titles on 3DS, which would have been the best possible way to play those titles and preserve the 3D...
@sketchturner Red Alarm definitely looks like a game that would be worth a second look on a better display.
The wireframe graphics were just too hard to make out what was happening in the game, from what I remember playing it on the demo console at the store back in the day.
Also, as Jeremy Parish has said when he reviewed the entire library a few years ago, red was simply the hardest color on the eyes to stare at for a long time. Even grayscale, as emulators can do, is a more pleasant color to look at.
I played Wario World all the time on the demo station at my local Toys R Us when I was a kid. When the 3DS came out, I expected it to come out, especially with the 3D Classics line of games. If it ever comes out on the Switch, I will gladly play.
It's too bad none of these games were ported to 3DS. I guess they still could be now but it wouldn't make much financial sense to put them on an a system no longer on the market. They could also retain their 3D effects on Switch if Nintendo makes a hands-free head mount with lenses like Labo.
Wario Land & Red Alarm was the shizzle!
I've played those games over n over. Was so under-appreciated the VB. I mean, people today couldn't even handle the New Nintendo 3DS XL, and that has a decent head tracker. I love the 3DS and was bummed out that Nintendo didn't bring these greats over. Wasted opportunity. Cool system still tho.
I tried the real thing when I was young. It hurt my eyes and the games were nothing special.
No, i don't think i will Bob, thank you very much.
Absolutely! I remember playing the Tennis game, a submarine title and others. My favorite by far was the Wario game, I loved it!
I’ve got a near-complete VB collection (North American, anyway), so I’d likely just play them on the original hardware.
Tbh... with Virtual Boy, the only game I really played & enjoyed was Wario Land. Mario Clash & Mario Tennis were ok. That said if they converted them to 2D and put them out as a Virtual Boy Switch Online app, I'd probably play them for a spell... but it's not high on my priority list.
A Game Boy line Switch Online app is however.
... Wun can only hope.
A 3DS cart with all of the first-party titles would have been a day one buy for me. Too bad it never happened.
I played the Wario Land game at a demo kiosk and thought it was pretty good. The 3D was completely unnecessary too, so that at least would be a good one to rerelease.
Virtual Boy Wario Land, not only the system's only marketable game, but the only one that used stereoscopy in any meaningful way, and the only one that was actually a very good game, platform be damned. Anyone who says otherwise probably didn't own a VB. It even has a forest of kinda Meowths.
I've got at least a measure of nostalgia for Red Alarm. I wouldn't mind revisiting it.
I never owned one, but the store demo had that one running, and it was a good hardware showcase in short bursts.
You all had a Virtual Boy comment party without me I see. Yes to everything. Wario Cruise should be remade, and featured on Wario All-Stars with an unlimited release. Wario likes unlimited money.
Wario, Red Alarm, and Teleroboxer need to return. The rest can stay buried.
We need Water World though. Life is empty without Water World.
I played them back in the day, and, yeah, the Wario game deserves preservation, but everything else was so-so. Mario Clash was a neat little tech demo, Vertical Force was a Fun shooter, and Telero Boxing made me pine for a Punch-Out! game that never came. Wario Land was gaming's only real loss.
Can only hope hackers and the community will do these games right some day.
I remember trying this a few minutes when it was first released at the local EB Games and thinking okay, well that's a thing I guess. Back to my Super Nintendo. I'd try it out on Switch for a little while out of curiosity, but I'd rather Nintendo put their resources into other retro consoles we don't have on the Switch yet.
Yes but they really could and should've released them for 3DS as downloads. Would've been great with optional red/black graphics or giving them a more updated appearance. Wasted opportunity.
I've been playing VB Golf this week, one round every night and it's great! So yes, I would.
I would love to see a VB collection if they did some work to change the color/tint of the graphics.
Much better to play on a quest 1 or 2 to get a vr experience.
In non-Nintendo fashion, if they had released a compilation of all 22 games as a stand alone game on the 3DS for forty U.S. dollars, I’d have given it a go.
As it stands, I have access to Galactic Pinball, Mario’s Tennis, and VB Wario Land; all of which are terribly uncomfortable to play.
Sure, Nintendo could have definitely sold me Wario Land VB on 3DS. I was frankly waiting for it the whole time.
Nintendo had one excellent, perfect chance to bring back Virtual Boy games, on 3DS. They didn't even try. Unless Nintendo releases a VR system at some point, I don't see a Virtual Boy Virtual Console ever happening.
God! I love my Virtual Boy!
I will always remember when I bought one used with some games. My fovorites are: Wario Land, Red Alarm and Vertical Force.
But the underrated Bound High, Nikochan Battle, Insmouse No Yakata, Space Squash and Jack Bros. are also some of my collection highlights.
If they had put them on the 3DS, absolutely, yes. I really did think we'd see VB Wario Land make it to the 3DS at some point, be it a straight up port or a remastered version in full color, it just would have made sense to release the best VB game onto the 3DS so you still have the 3D effect without any of the awkwardness of the VB's physical design.
i would try it out of curiosity , and its sort of history to see how they experimented with VR so early on before it became more normalized and the technology improved but I don't think I'd play it very long or spend money on it to be honest.
@Ogbert Motion sickness is something your brain has to adjust to, it takes on average about a month and then you get nothing anymore. I would just say that you've not been experiencing the right games or apps. For me being able to sit on a boat fishing on a river with my friend who is on the other side of the world sat next to me, is absolutely amazing, add to that bowling, zombie slaying, dancing in nightclubs, exploring mountains, taking a city tout, riding across america in an open top sports car, visiting the pyramids or any number of fascinating places in the world, playing golf and being stood chatting to a friend, it's just amazing, and i would absolutely argue that anyone if they have the means should absolutely go and buy one, not PSVR, as it's too clunky and totally ruins the immersion, but Quest 2 10000000000000000000000000%. I feel like you've spent a little time doing very little and written it off as a poor experience.
@YANDMAN I've played Red-Out, Beat Sabre, Super Lucky's Tale, Astro-Bot, Volume, a bunch of 'experiences' and simulators, Labo VR (as basic as it is) and Super Hot. The latter being the only one I felt was at all improved by VR. Super Hot VR is fantastic.
As I said I'm glad you liked it, I'm glad it's being supported for those who do. But I have not just "spent a little time doing very little and written it off as a poor experience", I've spent a significant time with a variety of games and have been left generally underwhelmed and queasy. It's not for everyone and that's fine. I certainyl would NOt recommend people just drop thousands on the system, spend a month pushing through potential nausea caused by it with the assumption that by the end they will love it. I have seen people go pale and need to lie down after seconds in VR headsets.
Never played Astro Bot as it isn't on the Quest, but heard that it's great, but the others you mention aren't very good, well they're good, but there is much better out there. It doesn't cost thousands, it's 299.00.
I see a Poll: What is Your Favourite Virtual Boy Game? coming on lol.
No. I have no interest in playing red and black games in 2021. Every Virtual Boy should be remade from the ground up for Switch, period. It's the one console that most Nintendo fans have zero experience with, and the games themselves would just need a modern coat of paint, perfect for modern, lazy Nintendo.
