DrDaisy commented on Redesigned Wii U Tablet Controller Is Revealed:

I don't mind the analog sticks as long as they don't wear out easily like pretty much every first-party analog stick on a Nintendo controller I have come across. Some of my Nintendo 64 games are almost unplayable, and that may be thanks in part to that stupid octagonal ring surrounding the control sticks.

I guess it's back to Wii getting nothing again. I'm not too upset because Monster World IV finally came out along with an online-enabled Super Street Fighter II. I've lost much of my interest in Noitu Love 2 for Wii since I bought the PC version. I doubt Last Flight will ever make it to WiiWare, which is a shame because there are still no games on Wii's download service which are violent enough to be rated M.

It took forever for this game to come out here. Is it gonna take forever to get a review?

If they bring this to America, I hope they just keep the British accents. I can easily understand what they're saying and I think most other people can to, so re-dubbing it again in "American English" would be a waste of time and money.

@vikingscool I think something may have gotten lost in the transition between the beginning and end of that sentence. Understandable. I've done it myself before.
Anyway, SEGA is more generous with its offerings, probably because SEGA isn't as skittish as Nintendo, which is nothing new (remember Game Genie) and SEGA doesn't ... this is all speculation here ... SEGA doesn't have its own console to worry about so it can just focus on games. In my experience, SEGA is no expert in making consoles, but it knows how to get its games out there ...
Most of the time, anyway; I haven't forgotten about Shenmue 3.

@3DSLUIGI Sonic CD was put on GameCube as part of Sonic Gems Collection, so I doubt there would be much if any trouble running it on Wii. Considering there are at least a couple of Turbo CD games on the Virtual Console, I'm having trouble understanding why SEGA didn't do the same. I think Popful Mail and Keio are quite fun. Saturn, on the other hand, is another story. I hear it's very tough to emulate because of the complexity of the system. With proper modifications in the programming that doesn't necessarily affect the look or feel of the games, I think Wii could handle them easily; in their original format, however, I think they'd be tough to run on Wii hardware with emulation alone.

The weekly download email Nintendo sent me doesn't mention the Monster World games for some reason. If Monster World IV doesn't sell well because most people don't even know about it, I'm blaming Nintendo's poor advertising.

@ThreadShadow Unfortunately, unless Nintendo plans to keep the Virtual Console and have it compatible with both Wii and Wii-U, I don't think there are gonna be a whole lot more Virtual Console games, at least on Wii. Having watched some of a video review of Double Dragon II for Turbo CD and played some of Seiken Densetsu 3, I think they'd be great additions to VC if they can sell well.

My first experience with Super Hang-On was on the Sega Genesis 6-Pak and it was the game I played least on that compilation cartridge. I have a Wii, but no DSi or 3DS so I'll pass on this week's offerings.

DrDaisy commented on Sakurai: Dual Analogue Control in Kid Icarus: ...:

I'm so sick of excuses. Just because a developer prefers a certain way to play doesn't mean there shouldn't be options. That logic really hurt games like Metroid Other M and it was also the main reason I didn't buy ExciteBots. I also didn't buy Super Smash Bros on N64 because I hated using the analog control stick in it.

I know it's a stretch, but it reminds me of school teachers demanding left-handed students use their right hands with the expectation that they'll just adapt. And no, I'm not saying Nintendo is forcing anyone to play its games so don't even go there.

DrDaisy commented on Feature: Three Reasons Why Mario's Next Advent...:

@NTELLIGENTMAN
Oh you! LOL!
Even though I'd prefer Daisy as a playable character in this sort of game, I'd settle for Peach being playable. Saving the princess was fun the first 4,000* times, but now it just seems backward and old-fashioned.
Actually, I think a Mario game that uses mechanics from Doki Doki Panic and the more conventional Mario side-scrollers would be cool. Picking up an enemy or item from the ground could be done with a separate button or with a combination of the main fire/run button and pressing up or down.
*I may have exaggerated a little.

@Gamer83
I don't like the the limitations of the current virtual console, but I disagree with you about wanting it to go away. There are still tons of old games out there that need to resurface, including some great Sega Saturn games that I'm guessing most people outside of Japan really missed out on. Having said that, the Virtual Console has room for improvement such as button-mapping options, multiple save states, and "virtual" compatibility with controller packs and rumble packs.

Though that may change, I have no plans to buy anymore consoles and I get pissed off when companies move games from one system to another just to get people to buy that new system. If they're gonna play that games, then I'll just have to play mine: I know where to get most of these games with dubious legality.

I'm sick of these arguments of how they'll get better next time. I don't like waiting for "the next system" to make improvements, I want improvements here and now. Refusing to fix problems or make improvements until they release their next systems is a big problem with Nintendo, one I'm really sick of. I don't want any more of this "we'll do better next time" crap! Do better this time!

@James
Well, as far as I know, Capcom did not murder a bunch of children over Easter. Most likely because they wouldn't make money off of doing something like that.
People made fun of me for being angry that I'd have to pay for extra outfits that are already on the disc of Street Fighter IV. They weren't laughing when this practice spread to content they actually cared about.
@sony_70
Is that far-left one on the second row Final Fight Double Impact?!
I'm glad that doesn't apply to the XBox 360 version because the ethernet port on mine is broken (Don't ask me how; I have no idea) and M$ wants about a hundred bucks to fix it.

@Gamer83
I hope you're wrong, especially since there's so much left to release. I don't want to have to buy a Wii-U to get newer Virtual Console games; that's insulting.
What about Monster Hunter IV, Noitu Love 2*, and maybe an American release of a Street Fighter IV game I could play online? On Wii, I mean. Super Street Fighter II Turbo High-Definition Remix is okay, but sometimes I like the retro under-powered graphics, music, and sound effects of the Genesis version. I also like to pretend I'm using X-Band, which I never got a chance to ... and you've probably stopped reading.

*Which is actually WiiWare, not VC, but it still fits my point.

DrDaisy commented on Talking Point: Is Nintendo Over-Reliant on Sup...:

Nintendo is way too reliant on Mario games, many of which I feel are grossly overrated. It's almost gotten to the point where I can't stand Mario anymore. I'd rather have more Metroid (at least partially developed by Nintendo), F-Zero, and Star Fox games. I don't like the stories in the F-Zero and Star Fox games very much, but I loved the gameplay in F-Zero X and Star Fox 64. I'm also willing to give Metroid another chance.
I wonder whatever happened to Star Tropics.

I may be I'm alone in this, but if they keep making Mario games, I think they should at least have a voice option in them. I'm not exactly suggesting giving Mario a gruff Brooklyn accent instead of his cheesy Italian one (although that's exactly what I'd want), but I'd find the Mario games much more playable if I could just turn his voice off without sacrificing the music and other sound effects.

DrDaisy commented on Nintendo Download: 12th April 2012 (Europe):

A virtual console first in Europe, James? I wasn't aware of any Virtual Console games that could be played online in any region. What VC game outside of Europe features online multiplayer? If Capcom brings the Genesis version to the U.S. Virtual Console, I hope it also has online multiplayer. I have HD Remix for PS3, but I find the retro-synth in Ryu's stage really catchy in the Genesis version.

DrDaisy commented on Nintendo: "Experience of Playing", Not Tech Sp...:

If it's true that the Wii-U is less powerful than PS3 & XBox 360 and no developer can publicly tell the truth about it without risking backlash from Nintendo, then there's also Nintendo's honesty to be concerned about. I don't trust companies that rely on lying to their consumers. If these "anonymous" developers are just blowing smoke, then it might come back to bite them if they're ever found out.
I'll get a Wii-U if I can afford one and it's good enough. Otherwise, I'll pass. I'm not letting my Nintendo fanaticism dictate my purchases.

DrDaisy commented on Nintendo: "Experience of Playing", Not Tech Sp...:

I'm personally disappointed with the Wii's third-party catalog, which I believe would have been a lot better if it had power comparable to XBox 360 and PS3. Since Mario got his ear-assaulting trademark voice in Super Mario 64, I've pretty much avoided most of the Mario games so those don't attract me to a system anymore. Sure, I've gotten a few like Mario Kart 64, Mario Tennis on N64 (which I think I tried to give away), Mario Kart Wii, Super Mario Galaxy (which I regret buying already), and the latter Super Smash Bros games, but I need blood, violence, and a little bit of fowl language, not horrible voices and Jr characters.
