Kickstarter success story Mighty No. 9 hasn't had the smoothest of routes to market. After smashing its crowdfunding goal by some margin the title was expected to launch in September last year, but missed that original release window and was given an "early 2016" date. It then slipped from its new release date of February, with producer Keiji Inafune publically offering his apologies to fans.
Spring was the vague launch window given at that point, and we're now in that particular season - yet we still don't have a solid release date.
Worryingly, both Comcept and Deep Silver appear to be keeping quiet about the game, and haven't made any statements regarding the revised launch for some time.
Publisher Deep Silver has since been prodded into action, but the reply isn't all that enlightening:
We have no comments at this time. You'll be the first to know once we have new information to share.
Do you still have faith in this successor to Mega Man, or do you think these delays are evidence of troubled development? Let us know by posting a comment.

Good news as usual from Mighty Number 9... Sigh
That really sucks... Just hoping it will be worth the wait when it finally launches.
I just hope that the reviews for the game don't reflect the delays and only focus on how good/bad it is when it comes out. Got a feeling a lot of them are going to mention that it was 'delayed this many times and is only this good' kinda thing. Maybe they'll say it was worth the delays. Point is - this shouldn't be a factor when it comes to it...if it comes to it and it's actually released
The NX will launch before this does at this rate...
I've stopped caring to be honest.
I have enough games to play not to be salty about this.
Still hoping it'll be enjoyable after such a long delay...
Honestly, why does it matter?
The game comes out when it comes out, and it has obviously needed the extra time in the incubator when it's been on display.
I don't mind when it comes out so long as it's good.
I was really looking forward to this a few years ago.
Its still on my list - will probably buy it - if it gets good review scores that is
How funny would it be if a Megaman game gets released before this actually launches
Let them delay it. Mega Man is a hard act to follow. It's refreshing to see Keiji and his studio put so much work into this game.
As someone who is habitually late, I think I would be ill placed to judge them. Heck, I got asked by a publisher to write a book once and handed it in 15 months late. These delays are nothing. Obviously, its frustrating for folks who paid up front but that's how Kickstarter works. Any sane person would rather have a finished product late rather than a half-baked version on time.
@YorkshireNed True. A few years late is okay. A decade late is unacceptable (Final Fantasy XV).
Had just early searched up if there was another delay, having seen a sentiment on Twitter to tge effect of these delays on such a prominent Kickstarter project losing confidence and subsequent pledges to other such projects. Amazon has it as May 31st, a placeholder, but hey, given Miitomo's release date...
If the game didn't have the online features I am betting it would have already been out by now. The online should probably have been patched in at a later date so people could at least enjoy the single player content.
This game's become a joke by now...
I honestly haven't been impressed with this game from the start, so it could probably use a little extra time in the oven.
It is not even close to being a joke, good games take time to make. The online portion is what is holding the game up from releasing. I bet when it hits the streets people will enjoy the game. These game developers have to stop making release date promises, it always ends up whoopydidooping them in the ass when they don't hit that time period for whatever reason.
Watch your language - Octane
Seppuku time?
No news is usually BAD news for kickstarted video games unfortunately...
Game is dead in the water no doubt, hope i'm wrong.
While I wouldn't mind picking this up upon release (if it's good), I've stopped caring about it long ago. This is almost becoming a standard thing with crowd-funded projects. It's not about patience with me: I say take your time and get it right. But the lengthy silences (which look more like ignores to stave off the inevitable bad news) associated with these collaborative-funded efforts usually results in an unfinished product and people out of money.
It's more of a mystery to me why ppl even care about this game in the first place.
Kingdom Hearts 3 will be released before mighty no 9. Mother 3 will be localized, square enix will show a new FF7 remake trailer, sonic games will be good, all before mighty no 9 comes out
I think I'll buy the new unannounced/undeveloped/un though of Mega Man game before this.
Sad story, this game goes huge hype around the world, the game probably "late" or "Development Hell" put it in mega man creator must be focusing to the programming... I don't care about delay or another dumb news... Just wait and see to be honest the game was raised good... And myself of course will buy the game instead with other goods
POP QUIZ
"A robot created by Keiji Inafune whose new game is
taking forever to come outnever coming out."Which character am I talking about? Beck, or Megaman?
Taking there time over this game hope its gonna worth it tho.
God knows what they're playing at. Haven't they made loads of games like this before? Why's this one causing them so much trouble? It looked more or less finished in the last videos we saw.
Personally I'm more looking forward to Shantae.
Everyone is going to have really high hopes since its been delayed so much, so I accept a lot of people thinking it's worse than it actually is. I have plenty of games to play while I wait, so no worries from me.
Oh look! Mighty No. 9 is still not ready for release!
Alright, a delay is good, but good Lord! If it gets delayed again, this will be, what, the third time? It's getting a bit ridiculous!
I just don't care anymore. I don't even care about the $25 dollars I gave. All I know is that I'll never give that man my money or my time ever again.
Even Inafune is a fraud. Kajima said he is a business man not a creator, well, he is a terrible business man too
Or a great one if you actuakly think about the money.
It's a shame the image of this game has plummeted. As it does look like a fun game, and I will be buying it when (if?) it gets released. But bloody hell, am I glad I didn't back the Kickstarter.
I'll still get it, but I have to admit my hype is quite diminished at this point.
Even though Migthy No.9 is awful when it comes to how it was handled, I don't think we should never ever give our money to someone trying to make a good video game.
Look at Bloodstained:Ritual of the Night. They set a reasonable date to 2017. They could have just set multiple dates and constantly delay the game until that time period.
The issue with Mighty No. 9 is that Inafune is trying to fund all of this other stuff such as a live-action movie, cartoon, and Red Ash, that he's lost focus of what people originally funded for, and that's THE GAME.
This game could be fun, but it will go down as being a mess of a kickstarter, and cause people to be extra cynical towards other kickstarters.
I don't mind much but i just hope it wont be the same story with Bloodstained !
@xj220_afiles That's the problem with kickstarter games and this is something that I absolutely hate about them.
While I doubt that Bloodstained would be delayed like this, I also doubt that the game will be good in the end.
No need to care about this when I can play 20XX on PC. Now Bloodstained is something worth following, I hope we can have a happy ending for that one.
Mighty No. 9 Forever
Lol. When this game does finally come out, no one will buy it cause they're just completely over it. It's flat out amazing how much they botched this.
If I were them I wouldn't say anything either. They've said enough and had to retract it a couple of times. Best to wait till you have a solid release date. Too bad they're losing more and more steam the further this goes.
This is Concept and Deep Silver:
Let's look at Comcept's credibility right now.
Soul Sacrifice - A somewhat mediocre game
Bugs VS. Tanks - Absolutely horrible game
Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z - Definitely wasn't a fan of this either
Keiji Inafune can't seem to stay focused on one project long enough to make it any good. Mighty No. 9 cartoon (which definitely didn't require that SECOND large boost of money), Red Ash game AND Anime to be launched at the same time.
At this point, I pretty much know Mighty No. 9 isn't going to be great.
I hope that the notion of a delayed game being good eventually but a bad game being bad forever would apply here.
Didn't care then, don't care now!
The bright-eyed enthusiasm that everyone showed for this when it was announced seems like 20 years ago now.
There is no more a mystery here than there is with the new Zelda game. It's just that 'they' don't want us to know the reason why there is a delay.
I look forward to picking this game up in the clearance bin 5 months after its release... in 2019.
The game has been seen in motion, right? I can't remember at this point. I feel like people gave it mediocre reviews when they tested it at a game show, but I could be confusing it with a game that actually has been developed.
@Azikira Gunvolt and Mighty Gunvolt are the only 2 games that came out from them that is enjoyable (for me at least).
Mega Man is so dead, that even his successor is dead.
Since I Kickstarted it, I'll still give Mighty No 9 a try when it finally gets released. However, I've lost all interest in it now. It's just delay after delay, and the demo wasn't particularly fun.
@DDStuff Azure Striker Gunvolt and Mighty Gunvolt were developed by "Inti Creates", not "Comcept". This is why I left them off the list.
I'll be amazed if someone can come up with ONE game that Comcept has made that's actually really good.
Starting to borderline on fraud this Mighty No 9 saga.
They didn't get millions in funding for Red Ash which obviously ruined the whole, strange, probably scanadlous scheme of whatever operation Inafking's running over there
I've said it before, Inafune is a hack. No one cares about this so called online mode for a Mega Man inspired game.
It's beyond the jokes now. I can't even find it funny anymore. What a disrespect to anyone who invested time and money supporting this game.
I don't typically mind games being pushed back as long as it's for good reason. Nintendo pushes back every Legend of Zelda release at least once.
Still, this one is not coming from a studio with the solid reputation of Nintendo or its various second-part publishers. The fact that it came about as a Kickstarter project makes me concerned that the problem is not just little technical details, but rather that the whole team and project may be a giant mess.
Why can't Inafune just go back to Capcom, use their resources to make the game, and turn the hero blue? I mean, was anybody ever hyped for this for any reason other than it's basically a Mega Man reboot? Why is Smash Bros. still the most recent game where I can play as Mega Man?
...Man I really miss Mega Man. [hugs Mega Man Amiibo] [sobs uncontrollably]
So the news is that there's no news.
I feel ashamed that I put money in this project. The demo felt ok, but nothing revolutionary and it wasn't as great as Mega Man games. The graphics look really weak when they decided to go for 3D models instead of more like the original concept art.
The most useless part of the game is the online mode that nobody asked for. And apparently that is the excuse used for the postponing of the release, because the online is not working. The single player story part of the game is supposedly done already.
I am still wishing that they will give the Wii U & 3DS as cross purchase option like they are doing with PS4, PS3 and Vita.
But yeah, I am not buying or supporting anymore Inafune games ever. It starts to be clear why Capcom let him go.
It's beyond hilarious that Inafune's Xbox One game has been postponed also to somewhere in the future years.
The hype-train for this game derailed a while ago, it seems. I'd still like to play it but I'm not excited at all anymore.
well we still have three weeks of april and may, so...hopefully soon?
