YorkshireNed commented on Rumour: Mega Man Is Starring In A Mega Movie T...:

Of course, what could possibly go wrong? I bet not only will this film be so bad it makes you want to hammer nails into your own eyes rather than watch it all the way through, but there'll also be a horrible tie-in game made by some game studio you never heard of that feels nothing like a Mega Man game. BAH!

YorkshireNed commented on Interview: Lilian "Milktea" Chen Talks Smash B...:

Wow, you can be a professional smash bros player? That sounds great...not that I'd ever get to that level but kudos to those who can. And kudos to Lilian who sounds like a calm, reasonable person who's shrugged off the nastier elements of the community with maturity and stoicism.

YorkshireNed commented on Rumour: ZombiU Is Shedding Its Wii U Exclusivi...:

Can't see why people are getting so upset over this. Wii U would still have hadyears of exclusivity plus you can't fault Ubisoft for wanting to actually make back some of the money they lost developing this classic game. Fair play to Ubisoft for trying to support Wii U in its launch period. Nobody bought the games for Wii U so they don't release them anymore.

YorkshireNed commented on Poll: We Need to Talk About amiibo - Where Do ...:

I know its frustrating when you can't get hold of things you would want to but the harsh reality is if Nintendo made an abundance of every Amiibo figure then only the few would buy them. Its been commonplace in the music industry for years now. If you make a record that isn't a very limited edition then nobody buys it as they feel no pressure and instead spend their money on something that will soon sell out. The demand for these Amiibos is fueled by their rarity. I own 12. If they were all permanently available forever, I'd probably only own 2. Sorry folks, but thats capitalism.

YorkshireNed commented on Lucas DLC Confirmed for 14th June Release on S...:

we bought Mewtwo because my son is Pokémon mad but its hard to muster any enthusiasm for this. Never played Mother 3 and on the Wii Smash Bros he seemed too similar to Lucas. Now if they do Mother 3 for virtual console then my enthusiasm will carry me away to buy him but otherwise.....nah

YorkshireNed commented on Talking Point: The Fragility of Buying Downloa...:

There's a flipside, though. Two months ago Iost my 3DS on a bus. It never showed up. The physical game that was in it was lost forever but when I reported it to Nintendo, they logged me out of the lost 3DS and when I signed into the replacement I bought, I was able to redownload EVERYTHING I had bought and all my ambassador freebies. Oddly, the downloads have longer lives with me as I always end up selling off physical games when I am short of money.

YorkshireNed commented on Doctor Who Confirmed For Lego Dimensions On...:

Oh Darn! We'd vowed we were going to ignore Lego Dimensions because we spend too much on Amiibos but Doctor Who? Now we're onboard! And if we're going to get Doctor Who, we might as well get some others so we can have crazy crossovers. Peter Capaldi's prickly Doctor teaming up with Scooby Doo? Mind blowing

YorkshireNed commented on Tales of More Super Smash Bros. amiibo Pre-Ord...:

the curse of Amiibo hadn't hit me too hard apart from the Ness letdown. This time round things have been trickier. My Jigglypuff pre-order from Nintendo UK also got cancelled the next day with a priority on the sold out next batch. And now my Pac Man had gone wrong. I set paypal as my payment method for the pre-order. Then they tried to charge it the day before my monthly payday and because it go declined they had to cancel the preorder as Paypal doesn't let them try again. Going to use my debit card next time

YorkshireNed commented on First Impressions: The Addictive Futility of t...:

I kind of hate how hooked I am on Streetpass. I lost my launch 3DS about a month ago but the last time I'd checked the records on it, it showed I'd clocked up over 1000 hours on Streetpass. Now I have a replacement 3DS and am back to square one on every game with two new ones. Even with my long commute home, I can't finish them all. Probably not helped by their being a Nintendo Zone now in the train station near my work so every time I head home I get 9 passes. Dammit, I want to spend more time on Majora's Mask & MH4U but I'm too hooked on Streetpass!

YorkshireNed commented on Head Teachers in the UK Issue Warning to Paren...:

I think that kids do need protecting from such games. Some parents are very uninformed about games and may be letting them play them out of naivety while others are just negligent. I have some friends who let their 7 year old play GTA because "He just uses it for racing, not the other stuff" which is just delusional. I won't even play Monster Hunter when my kids are in the room.

Yet, I still can't really get behind sending random threateningly letters to all and sundry. If the schools are concerned then the first step would be to send a letter warning parents what is in these games.

YorkshireNed commented on eShop Games Added To The European Club Nintend...:

I don't want to sound like a curmudgeon but why couldn't our Club Nintendo have been like this all along? Mind you, I'm probably just bitter because I spent 4000 stars a couple of weeks ago on Pokémon Snap for my 5 year old only to find out his hands weren't big enough for the Classic Controller...

YorkshireNed commented on Nintendo's First Smartphone Title Could Launch...:

Now you make the association between Pokemon Shuffle and smart phones, it suddenly all makes sense. I guess PS was the guinea pig? I expect for smart phones it will be stuff like that with Nintendo IPs. Nothing to threaten the full-on experience of a 3DS or Wii U, just something simple for casuals to play on their phones but with names they know. Makes perfect business sense and the profits can be used to lower costs on the next gen hardware.

YorkshireNed commented on Swedish Newspaper Questions The European Relea...:

Oh dear, I wonder how many GG maniacs have sent her death threats by now? Yeah, its pretty tacky marketing but if its gotten her talking about it in the media, then it's working. If she really wanted to fight this kind of thing, the most powerful tool she could have deployed as a journalist would have been to not write a single word about it. The same thing applies to those who disagree with her - newspapers hype up outrage to sell newspapers and gain publicity. If you find her views offensive, then starve them the oxygen of publicity and if you find a game offensive then ditto. Controversy sells both newspapers and games. Everyone getting upset about this is probably delighting both the game publishers and the journalist.

YorkshireNed commented on Nintendo Confirms Wil Wheaton as Voice Actor f...:

If you don't know what g*merg*te is, don't look. it will only lower your opinion of our species. This kind of hysterical over-reaction is their stock in trade. Wheaton made a brief, reasoned and fair comment against them a while ago and they're still foaming at the mouth. Going by how civilised the comments on Nintendo Life normally are, I suspect the Gamergate crowd do not crossover into Nintendo fandom much. Probably the type who think its for kids.

YorkshireNed commented on Hardware Classics: Sega Mega CD:

some of the best games I've ever played were Mega CD. So were some of the worst.

My classics list was Batman Returns (the driving scenes were amazing and the soundtrack perfect), Echo The Dolphin (same game as Megadrive with bonus levels but what a soundtrack), Dune, Earthworm Jim: Special Edition, Mickey Mania, Mortal Kombat, Pitfall: The Mayan Adventure, Snatcher

My hate list was Ground Zero: Texas, Night Trap, Road Avenger, the dreadful Sherlock Holmes games with American actors doing rubbish English accents and the dreary, dissapointing Shadow of the Beast II

My regret list was Sonic CD & the second Echo game, wish I'd picked those up
