YorkshireNed commented on Bayonetta 2 Demo Now Live In The European Wii ...:

OK, looks like I'm at odds with most other folk but I played the demo last night and it really wasn't for me. I found the BLAM-BLAM-BLAM action quickly got quite bland and unsurprising. No exploring, just stuck on a platform fighting a few monsters followed by another platform and monsters then another. The huge end of level baddies just felt messy and underwhelming...and the music made me barf. Still, glad its a Wii U exclusive and want it do a well and sell well, just won't be getting a copy for our house!

YorkshireNed commented on Guide: New Nintendo 3DS - Everything We Know S...:

What I would love would be for the system transfer to allow transfer between regions. I live in the UK but emmigrate to USA next year. If I could buy a New 3DS and transfer all my downloads over, that would be amazing. Otherwise I'll just have to keep my old original launch 3DS and run it till it dies. IF this was to be region-free, do you think I'd be able to do a EU to USA system transfer?

YorkshireNed commented on New Nintendo 3DS Models Announced:

Nice timing, I got a 3ds when they first came out and its been heavily used and its......looking a bit rough. I'll get one of these next year, probably when I've moved to NA

YorkshireNed commented on The Console Wars Live On As Night Trap Remake ...:

Wow, so many different thoughts about this. First - they want to remake Night Trap? Sure I played it endlessly in the day but it was very much a product of its time and kitsch even when it came out. Second - wow, that's a long time to hold a grudge. Thirdly - man, that was a mean spirited thing the Nintendo dude said in congress. Fouthly - wouldn't it be way cooler to prove him wrong by getting it on a Nintendo platform and then send him an e-mail?

YorkshireNed commented on Reaction: Mario Kart 8 Accused Of Poor Sales P...:

Meh to the sales, the battles point is fair and the racism...Well, judging by how well Nintendo handled the Italian New Yorker stereotype, if they had added a person of colour to the world of Mario, he'd probably be a minstrel-show type shouting "Mammy". I think for a company based in the country where its normal and acceptable for shops to have up signs saying "NO FOREIGNERS", Nintendo haven't done too bad all things considered. Just a good job they dropped the planned yasukuni shrine racecourse track from Mario Kart DS

YorkshireNed commented on Soapbox: Ignoring The Objectification Of Women...:

Its a difficult question. If you'd asked me when I was 18, I would have laughed at you and called on free speech and letting the buyer decide. Now as a Husband and a Father to a young daugther, with statistics about breast implants on the rise, I feel differently. These sort of images create a physical image that young people cannot live up to. Of course, the same applies to impossibly muscled heroes [which thinking back, definitely affected my self esteem as a young guy]. However, I would hate to ever see any official legal censorship being imposed. I think a discussion like this is a good way forwards and to always bring up these issues in any coverage of such games. There is a lot of Japanese culture I love [esp. Nintendo games, Japanese psychedelic rock and Japanese history] but I don't want to import the sexualisation of children

YorkshireNed commented on Mario And Zelda On Mobile Could Bring New Play...:

I think a sensible compromise would be for Nintendo to create some simple, stripped down mini games for mobiles featuring their big IPs. It would help build a bit of brand awareness and lure some more people into the cult of Nintendo. However, apapting existing classics into mobile phone format is a terrible idea. Those games need buttons and pads, not touchscreens.

YorkshireNed commented on Nintendo Confirms Major Reductions In Sales an...:

It is disturbing news. If you go to the Google News page you can see this story is making news all over the world. I know a lot of people on her don't like naysaying but this is definitely bad. Much of the media analysis is putting Nintendo's problems down to them not letting others use their IPs. I strongly diagree. I think it would cheapen the IPs and lower quality control (there is really on so much you can do with touch screen phone games). They are smart to keep these things to their own consoles. I think the main problem is the Wii U's low spec. It just didn't appeal to any of the gamers I work with. I am literally the only gamer in my entire workplace who wants a Wii U and not a Xbox One or PS4. I badly want Wii U to suceed. It would really upset me if Nintendo was reduced to being just a games publisher like Sega.

YorkshireNed commented on Talking Point: Is The Castlevania Series Finis...:

I've not voted as I'm really not sure. I love the old series but never quite made my mind up about the 3DS entry. It seemed too easy for a few hours and then suddenly a rock hard boss turned up who I struggled with and I got bored. And the music really wasn't up to the series standard. But it was kind of cool. I can't say it breaks my heart that the series isn't planning a Wii U game this year.

YorkshireNed commented on StreetPass Games Producers Tell Origins of Mii...:

I bought all the new streetpass games and love them. However, I do feel that recently streetpass has lost a bit of its sparkle with you getting 6 miis everytime you pass a wi-fi spot. I live in a small remote town and find it hard to believe that 6 other 3ds users (and always one from abroad) have really passed that wi-fi spot. It feels like its just giving me 3ds users from elsewhere. Before there used to be something more exciting and personal about streetpassing people but now it feels a bit like a big download dump. Also its now too easy to hit the 10 limit from the wi-fi spots which might block genuine streetpasses.

YorkshireNed commented on Review: 3D Ecco The Dolphin (3DS eShop):

@Asaki my thoughts exactly. The soundtrack was far better for the CD version and there were extra levels. I got through to the final boss a few times, if memory serves, but never beat the game. The final levels were insanely hard and incredibly dark. This was my game, not SOR which quickly bored me
