Devil's Third.jpg

The beginning of another week brings us the European Nintendo Download Update details, with this entry bringing some major releases. We have a much anticipated FPS action game on Wii U, along with a toys-to-life option and some tempting downloads, while the 3DS brings the latest Senran Kagura title and a range of discounts. Let's get to it.

Wii U Retail Download

Devil's Third (Valhalla Game Studios, €59.99 / £49.99) - This shooter has attracted mixed opinions prior to release, but will aim to make its mark in PAL territories first up. It's a title with bold ambitions of marrying first person shooting with extensive melee combat, with a solo campaign being joined by a hefty online component. We'll bring you our review soon, but in the meantime you can check out our single player and multiplayer previews.

Disney Infinity 3.0: Play without limits (Disney Interactive, €19.99 / £16.49 until 5th September, normally €29.99 / £24.99) - Due to this game requiring toys and a portal it's being offered at a heavily reduced price on the eShop, a tempting option for those already invested in the series. This is Disney's high profile franchise in the toys-to-life market and features Star Wars and Frozen this year, among other franchises. Available from 28th August.

Q.U.B.E: Director's Cut (Grip Digital, €7.99 / £7.19 until 14th September, normally €9.99 / £8.99) - This first person puzzle title has been a little while coming, and challenges the player to manipulate environments and more in order to make progress. This Director's Cut features an expanded story and a Time Trial mode with online leaderboards; we'll bring you a review soon.

Life of Pixel (Super Icon Ltd, €9.99 / £8.99) - This is an intriguing platformer with the premise of each stage representing particular consoles and generations, while revisiting classic games with a backdrop of chiptune music. It delivers in many respects but is flawed with some of its level design, for example - check out our Life of Pixel review for a full lowdown in which we give in a recommendation.

Stone Shire (Finger Gun Games, €4.99 / £4.20 until 26th September, normally €7.99 / £7.00) - It's a Minecraft-inspired game on Wii U, which jumped into the North American market ahead of rivals; it's set up as a simple sandbox experience in which you explore and try to survive. Though updates are a reality with this one, we were unimpressed in our Stone Shire review.

Senran Kagura 2: Deep Crimson (Marvelous Europe, €29.99 / £24.99 ) – This new entry follows on from the events of its predecessor, with more beat 'em up action combining with some new twists on gameplay. It's a divisive franchise that doesn't appeal to all gamers, but will make its way onto the system nevertheless. We had an interesting chat with Producer Kenichirō Takaki at E3.
