Re: Review: RiME (Switch)

@gloom I’m thinking it’s pretty obvious that the devs had a tough time programming for the Switch. I’m hearing the file size is larger than other formats and it runs slower. Sounds like some really sloppy or just plain inexperienced coding.

Re: Ubisoft Thinks The Next Console Cycle Isn't Far Away, So Where Does That Leave Switch?

th3r3ds0x

Do they really think Microsoft and Sony are releasing new consoles in 2019? I’m finding that really hard to believe. Both companies are said that their current consoles may be their last with us just seeing upgrades from time to time like the Pro and the X. Games will be developed to run on the original consoles and also to take advantage of the faster hardware. Switch will be running the gimpy versions but will not be left behind. Nintendo really hit a sweet spot with the portability factor of the switch. It’s going to do well. I hope Nintendo puts out a “new” Nintendo Switch in the future like it did with the 3DS that gives more power etc but runs older software. Would be great and allow them maintain the power needed for decent 3rd party support.

Re: Soapbox: DOOM is the Most Important Switch Game Yet

th3r3ds0x

Here’s my deal, I’d love to get some of these games on switch. My son and I both play a lot of video games. We both have ps4/xboxone/Switch we call our own. On the ps4/Xbox I can buy one copy of a game digitally and we can both enjoy it on our consoles thanks to the way those companies have their home system setup and sharing. There is nothing like that on Nintendo. So for us to both play this on our switch I’m either paying for the game twice or we are taking turns, and of course we could t ever play together over the network. Work on that Nintendo.

Re: Poll: Which is the Best Super Mario Game?

th3r3ds0x

Guess I’m just too old. I listed Super Mario Bros. As the best 2D. It was my first NES game, I was playing it the arcade even before I had my NES. First love I guess, always a special place in the heart. I really enjoyed Mario 64 as well. I just couldn’t put that one down. I haven’t been hooked to a Mario game in the 3D realm quite as much since then. I enjoyed all the others but I played those two games quite a bit more than any of the others.

Re: Nintendo Wants Everyone In Your House To Have Their Own Switch

th3r3ds0x

@Danrenfroe2016 I’m hoping they come out with a more powerful version. I’m fine with the screen size but I wouldn’t be put off by it being a little thicker or heavier to support a little more power. I’m not expecting 4K but it would be nice if all games that came out on it could run at 1080p 60.

Re: 8Bitdo Is Releasing Wireless Pads For The SNES Classic Mini

th3r3ds0x

I’m kinda aggravated by this. I have the other controller they sell that looks identical to the SNES game pad. They updated it to work with the switch and the NES mini so why not the SNES? I connected it to the SNES and it connects no problem but certain buttons don’t work. Seems like an easy firmware update to me.

Re: Gallery: The North American SNES Classic Mini Is Boxy, But Good

th3r3ds0x

My local target had 42 in stock this morning. I got there right when they opened and there were 6 people waiting in line. Situation already looking better than the NES Mini. Glad I got one from a store at the actual retail price. I never once saw the NES Mini available anywhere. I hope all the scalpers choke on their purchases.

Re: Gallery: The North American SNES Classic Mini Is Boxy, But Good

th3r3ds0x

If I can get my hands on one I may try for the European version. I had the NA version back in the day but find the Euro more attractive. I also like the colored buttons on the controller. The American version is just bland to me. May try stopping by Target to see if I can get the NA version. I won’t be holding my breath.

Re: Don't Pay Over The Odds For A SNES Classic Mini, Urges Reggie Fils-Aime

th3r3ds0x

@JamesR I totally agree with you but this situation unfortunately leaves enthusiasts with no other option. I literally never saw the NES classic available anywhere for its entire lifespan. It was either feed a scalper or do without. Nintendo needs to make enough to meet the early demand otherwise the scalpers just keep gobbling them up the entire time as they did with the Nes. It was easy money for the scalpers.

Re: Here's The Lead Problem With The SNES Classic's Controller

th3r3ds0x

In Japan they have smaller rooms etc.. that's my theory on the silly short cables...they aren't worried about the west. We just buy their stuff. We try to anyway... looks like raspberry pi for me, I'll never actually see the SNES Mini at retail and the scalpers aren't getting my money.

Re: Soapbox: The SNES Classic Edition Pre-Order Farce Proves Nintendo Hasn't Learned A Thing

th3r3ds0x

Only issue is we don't know what the stock situation is really like because scalpers order 50 of them at a time... stock obviously won't last long like that. I would have at least liked to have a shot at trying to order one but unfortunately I was fast asleep when all the retailers decided to open the flood gates...Nintendo can suck it, they truly have idiots in charge of product rollouts.

Re: Guide: Where to Pre-Order Your Super NES Classic Edition

th3r3ds0x

The only place to preorder the snes mini, EBay. It's absolutely ridiculous to have to go through this to try to purchase something. They need to just stop with the whole internet preorder business and just stock the things on store shelves. Would be really funny seeing these idiots trying to put 50 units in their cart to go check out. I just want one, it shouldn't be this difficult.

Re: Nintendo Switch and Splatoon 2 Led US Retail Sales in July

th3r3ds0x

Nintendo definitely does not cease to amaze. The Wii U may have been a dud, at least in some people's eyes, but the Switch is basically everything I've ever wanted from a console. Nintendo has always been my favorite and they have truly spoiled me with the Switch. All future systems must be playable on the go!

Re: Editorial: Is This a Golden Era of Gaming? Absolutely

th3r3ds0x

I'd have to disagree. If we are going to judge this based on graphics and portability then the golden age will always be ahead as things will always advance. I miss the days where you bought a game and you got the full functional 100% complete game in the box. Now days you can't get a game from the store but more an install disc. Even Nintendo cartridge games require day one patches. Games from most devs launch with bugs that can at times really mess up the game until the next patch that can sometimes take a while to roll out. Now everything has paid DLC and quite often you don't really get the full game at launch. I think the golden age of gaming died when the internet made it too easy too for game publishers to put out unfinished broken games and allow publishers to nickel and dime their fans with DLC and micro transactions.

I'm glad that Nintendo is in my opinion still the best when it comes to testing their games before launch and providing the full experience without extra cost.

Re: RiME Producer Explains Why The Switch Port Is Coming So Much Later

th3r3ds0x

@LuckyLand funny thing is I hate achievements because for me I feel like they kinda ruined the experience for me for a period. It wasn't the achievements themselves rather the gamer score on Xbox live. My friends and I got kinda competitive with our gamer scores for a while and it started to impact the games I would play and the systems I would purchase games for. Now I don't bother worrying about achievements and things are like they used to be. Just play good games for the exper and enjoyment.
