@NEStalgia not that I'd pay that for a Switch case but I'd bet the bag weighs more than the Switch. Even real firm fabric would likely be more than enough to protect the Switch in the case of a drop. After seeing several drop test videos it's easy to see the Switch is actually very well designed and quite tough. This bag is pretty nice but I'd rather invest the money elsewhere.
@Manjushri I had signed up for an email when this became available and I received that email Friday night. This whole thing is fishy. Really bums me out because I know I won't get another shot.
That's great news for Nintendo! My son and I are really enjoying it. Really glad to see the Switch doing so well. I sure hope we start seeing more third party titles. I really love being able to play anywhere. Would be awesome if Nintendo makes their next console a more powerful version, Switch 2.0.
If Sega released a Mini Genesis similar to what Nintendo is doing I'd definitely scoop one up. These third party offerings don't seem like they would have anything on a raspberry pi. I can definitely appreciate first party quality, at least when it comes to Nintendo hardware.
@VoodooTrumpet they will use sales of this to determine whether to support the Switch with future development even though everyone and their grandma has already played it. It's even been free game of the month on Xbox Live Gold and maybe PS+ too.
@VoodooTrumpet exactly, I've already gotten it free on my Xbox One a good while back. It was good game but at this point it's really the dead horse that Ubisoft keeps on beating. I'm waiting for the Super Duper 4K Definitive version on the Xbox One X.
I feel like the app exists solely because Nintendo is having a tough time getting away from the dual screen. I think the best way they could improve it would be to integrate the functionality into the Switch and then do away with the app. There are plenty of kids that have a Switch that don't have a smartphone... Cant believe Nintendo requires a separate device to fully utilize their paid online service.
@18wonders I realize this. I guess I'm still bitter because it was supposed to be an exclusive launch title for Wii U and then we got crapped on. They need to put out something fresh on Nintendo hardware. The fans would support them even though they may not deserve it.
Talk about beating a dead horse Ubisoft. How many more ports of this now 5 year old (supposed to be) Wii U launch title will we see. I'm ready for something new
@Crono1973 damn man you should have disclosed your intimate knowledge of Walmart and other retailers stock allocation before I wasted my time. Pretty sure vendors allocate a certain amount for the retail channel vs the internet sales in advance, but you would know.
@Crono1973 how exactly does allowing people to preorder hardware encourage scalping? Scalpers would be just as quick to order hardware on day one and hardware would sell out just as quickly on day one as preorders do. The only thing that encourages scalping is the internet, making it easy for people to place orders from various vendors and provide an easy mechanism to sell the haredware, Amazon & Ebay. Preorders have nothing to do with that.
@Crono1973 preorders for hardware are fine, preorders for games are a sham and should be done away with. Preordering games just encourages publishers to release broken unfinished games. Not wanting to stand in line at 4am to buy a game machine is certainly not lazy dude. I have a wife, kids, a job. Nintendo not being capable of rolling out hardware is the issue. These silly limited releases that are way too limited and seem to only cater to scalpers with vendors doing little to prevent scalpers from buying all the stock and selling it is the other half of the problem. Boils my blood when I never saw a NES Mini ever and I see pictures of scalpers with a stack of 50 sitting on a living room table...
@LeRaposa I'd have a guess it's more scalpers than fans. I know there are tons of fans but there are plenty more looking to take advantage of those fans knowing they can easily double or triple their investment.
@Nolan420 yea I preordered my Switch the morning of the big Nintendo present in January. Have seen a single unit in stock at Walmart two times since launch. While I'd prefer physical games the Nes and SNES Mini are really my only shot at getting new official Nintendo hardware that works as well as the originals did back in the 80s and 90s. I wish I had kept all my original stuff as I had a ton but back then I was tight on money and had to trade in old stuff to get new stuff...
I found out about Walmart having them first from a user on this website but upon checking my email I had a message from Walmart stating they were now available. I'm going to be really upset if they cancel my order. I never had a shot at the Nes Mini unless I wanted to sell my soul or go wait in line somewhere at 4am.
@MoonKnight7 dude! Thank you so much! I'm literally laying in bed plugging in my phone and I get an email notification, just completed a preorder at Walmart.
@MoonKnight7 definitely agree, hoping stores limiting one per customer will help slow it down. I've seen images where ppl had 50 of the nes ready to sell. I only need one lol. If I need more than one I'll buy from 2 places. The harder it is for scalpers the better the chance ppl that want them can have a chance to get em.
The portable nature of the Switch makes it ideal for me when playing these types of games. Much better chance for me to stay interested when I have the option to play anywhere or even in the same room while my wife is watching stuff on TV. Would definitely love to see a quality port make it to the Switch!
@MoonKnight7 I have a little faith that Nintendo means business when they say they are making significantly more than they did the NES. I'm getting one, hopefully at retail. Pretty sad how bad the internet has how made the scalping problem.
@Kalmaro exactly! I had the NES when I was in 8th grade and played through several games like Zelda and Metroid, no internet guides. Had a SNES and basically every other console produced since. I traded in all my old stuff back then, something I regret terribly now but can do nothing about. For me this is like getting all that stuff back. It's pretty awesome.
@WiiHawk when I setup my son's Switch I actually created a new account for him and made him 10 years older. Nintendo is too restrictive and makes things way too difficult when trying to do things. I'm not worried about him playing anything inappropriate from Nintendo. Seeing as I purchase his games I know what is going on. Also since he needs a smartphone to chat online I don't have that to worry about.
@idrawrobots it can't possibly be much. I have Bluetooth 4.0 heart rate monitors that use a small little lithium battery and last several months being used for an hour a day. A Bluetooth chat headset or even a set to plug in couldn't possibly make that large an impact on battery performance. Heck they could make bank selling headsets just like the 90$ block of plastic known as the dock. I want another dock but it should be like 30$ not almost 1/3 the console price. Serious price gouge by Nintendo on that one.
I don't terribly mind using my phone for this but I would have much rather them just include the functionality in the device. Battery life isn't an issue as I'll gladly play docked or use a battery when I'm on the go. I have a sneaky suspicion that this functionality will eventually make its way to the device. I'm sure the phone app works but it seems a bit hokie...
I would definitely like to see some good first person shooters make their way onto the switch. What a poorly thought out excuse about the buttons... I can't wait for Splatoon 2!
@HappyMaskedGuy I have to agree with you on this. I have several of the old games on other consoles. As a person that had an NES when I was in Jr High school I wish I would have kept all my old consoles etc. To me at this point most of the games are a novelty, as someone that keeps everything game related now, I find the NES mini a very desirable piece of hardware.
@ZeldaToThePast that's the exact reason I don't have my 8 and 16 bit systems. Back then I had to trade stuff in to get newer games and systems. Now I keep everything but back then I didn't have the luxury to do so.
Glad they are doing this and I hope they do the same in the US. The number of scalpers out there severely outnumber the number of people who "want to buy more than one for my family". I never had a shot at the NES classic even though I was on Amazon 15 minutes before they opened their preorder and I never saw one in a store. Really hoping Nintendo puts out a lot more of the SNES. They will all sell.
@amishpyrate why did you pay so much? I bought the SNES version because the audio was better than the Genesis version. My buddy got the Genesis version. They were like 40-50$ new on the day they launched.
I really love these videos. I'm about 10 years older than the kid in the video but I went through all of the same things. I would give anything to be able to go back and play through all my old systems. Sadly back then money was tight and I traded in all my old stuff for newer games. I've literally had every console made by Nintendo, Sega, and Sony, as well as my first, the Atari 2600. I envy those that had the foresight to hang onto all that old stuff.
While I'd totally love the idea, I absolutely don't think Nintendo would do this. Nintendo tends to defy logic when it comes to most decisions and this one just is too awesome to become reality. I'm just crossing my fingers that I can get my hands on the SNES Mini when it debuts.
@zer0vital yea that's true. I'm just thinking of trying to get the Nes mini on Amazon with their 2pm preorder. I couldn't even get to the checkout with item in my cart. When I tried to get the majoras mask 3DS for my son and I, we missed it on Amazon all together and I had 1 of my 2 orders cancelled at bestbuy and an order cancelled at Fry's. Ended up surprising my son with the one I was able to get and I just settled for the hyrule edition they released later. Scalpers make me sick.
@Grandpa_Pixel I think that is the point of the article. Nintendo has frustrated us time and time again with the way it releases products. Majora's Mask New 3DS, NES Mini, the list of frustrating releases goes on. Retailers should also limit folks to one per address. That might at least slow the scalpers down a little bit.
I think I would rather they just open preorders unannounced in the US. When Amazon put up the NES classic they sold out before I could even complete the transaction. If you provide a time every scalper on earth will be at the ready. I really want the snes but I'm not going to feed the scalpers.
@FX102A while I like the non North American design better I live in the US and for me this design is the most authentic. Hindsight is 20/20 but man do I wish I had kept all my 8 and 16 bit games and consoles. Looking forward to this coming out, just really hope I don't have to pay a scalper to get one.

Re: Get Namco Museum For Free With This Lovely WaterField Pro Switch Case
@NEStalgia definitely not ideal. I'm using the case that came with my Zelda special edition. Probably the only case I'll ever need.
