Re: Amazon UK Confirms Time for Nintendo Switch Pre-Orders

th3r3ds0x

I'm in the US but already growing tired of limited stock talk. I want to preorder a Switch but I have a feeling I'll be stuck trying to refresh a webpage that just times out repeatedly. Nintendo is really bringing me down with their hardware releases. It's almost like they don't want me to buy their hardware. Still have never even seen an NES mini...

Re: Soapbox: The Nintendo Switch's Final Specs Don't Matter

th3r3ds0x

Totally agree that specs don't matter. Specs never mattered. What's matters is a good launch lineup that will attract day one buyers. People sitting around saying I'm waiting for this or that from the sidelines will doom this system to poor sales and no third party support just like the Wii U. Establish a solid installed base early with some killer titles and third parties will naturally develop for the system. Devs didn't avoid the Wii U because of specs, the abandoned it because the installed base was puny.

Re: Ubisoft Refuses to Comment on Watch_Dogs Wii U Cancellation Rumours

th3r3ds0x

@Humphries90 So you won't support a company that has decided to stop supporting a game system that you yourself have not supported. That makes a lot of sense. Perhaps if you and others like you actually supported the system instead of the "wait and see" attitude everyone seems to have, the system would be doing a lot better.

Re: GameStop Accused of Re-Printing Xenoblade Chronicles, Then Selling as "Used" For $90

th3r3ds0x

I decided to purchase a copy of the game after reading this article and mine came in today. Its literally perfect. The disc and case are perfect as well as the inserts. I even got 50 coins for registering the club nintendo code. If this isn't a reprint then it is the best looking used game I've ever gotten from Gamestop. I rarely buy used games but I have ordered 2 or 3 in the past and they all looked like crap. Only one came in the original case and all of the discs were scratched. I'm actually pretty happy about it though, I have been wanting this game and having the opportunity to purchase a virtually like new copy for 89$ was a good deal considering the circumstances. If their copies of Metroid Prime Trilogy are this nice I may drop some cash on that also.

Re: IGN Editor: If Wii U Doesn't Pick Up, Nintendo Should Look To New Hardware

th3r3ds0x

The folks at IGN are idiots apparently as releasing new hardware at this point would definitely sink Nintendo home console business. The Wii U is a great system. I'm not a big fan of motion controls but I do love Nintendo games and I'm glad to finally play them in HD. I don't think the old games looked bad but they don't really shine on an HD TV. I sincerely hope this holiday season sees a turnaround for Wii U or there may not be a next holiday for the console.

Re: There's a Day One Pikmin 3 Update Waiting For You

th3r3ds0x

@unrandomsam
A 70MB patch to game to enable some network features is far from releasing an unfinished game. When Nintendo games are broken out the box without a patch then I'll worry. You could likely play Pikmin 3 from start to finish without ever connecting to the Internet and you'd not miss a thing.

Re: Talking Point: Why Interactive eBooks are a Perfect Fit for Wii U

th3r3ds0x

Honestly I think it's a bad idea with maybe a few gaming related items at best. There are many far better devices that are far better suited for this. The idea of having to be near my WiiU to view the content is also a deal breaker. I love my Wii U, as a game system. I'll use my ipad for the other stuff. Nintendo needs to get the games out already!

Re: Miyamoto: Consumers Should Have Access To Their Games "For A Long Time"

th3r3ds0x

@DrKarl well in their defense you can still play the game. If there are fixes you'd be missing those in the worst case but you still have the option to play the game. Keep in mind that the Wii U does not require an Internet connect in the first place. I don't think Nintendo has put out any games that won't function without an update.

Re: Miyamoto: Consumers Should Have Access To Their Games "For A Long Time"

th3r3ds0x

@DrKarl well unless they are still selling Wii U systems in 20 years your existing Wii U should have the software updates. Understandably you may delete this at some point to make room for something but at the same time Nintendo isn't going to be dropping support for Wii U without you having an opportunity to download any updates you need beforehand.

Re: Hardware Classics: Nintendo Virtual Boy

th3r3ds0x

It's a shame, I had one of these back in 95. I ended up letting it go at a yard sale. I kick myself for letting my older consoles go but back then the money I got for them was more important. I keep everything now lol.

Re: Microsoft: If You're Backwards Compatible, You're Really Backwards

th3r3ds0x

They had to make the 360 backwards compatible with Halo 2. I know several people that wouldn't have gotten their 360 until Halo 3 came out had it not been for backwards compatibility. The folks at Microsoft are starting to strike me as being a little clueless. I was pretty excited about the next Xbox until this week. It's gonna be Nintendo and Sony for me this Gen. Ill be sure to pick up a spare 360 when prices drop so I can keep playing my existing library.

Re: Silicon Studio Near "Maximum Performance" With Wii U, 3DS Hardware

th3r3ds0x

I'm glad they are able to tap the system to its fu potential early on. Making the move to HD resolutions was the single most important thing that Nintendo needed to do in my opinion. The games look great already. I'm a huge Nintendo fan but the only thing I didn't like was playing SD resolution games on HD TVs. I don't care that much if Link or Mario have 5000 polygons or 40,000 polygons. As long as the motion is fluid and the graphics are sharp and most importantly the gameplay is fun, I'm a happy camper. With this generation we reached a point where an upgrade in graphics power doesn't do as much to improve gameplay as it does to increase development costs. I remember getting Street Fighter II Special Championship Edition for my Sega Genesis and was so disappointed that the voice sounded like a garbled mess compared to the SNES version. Back then things like that really made a difference. Nowadays the differences are far less between the systems when it comes to things that are actually going to make a difference in the gameplay experience. Sony is going to have a nice powerful machine but as much as they are pushing the idea of more power they are also talking up all the social options that will set them apart. Increased graphics alone doesn't do it anymore. At the end of the day I like the pretty graphics but when it comes to gameplay, Nintendo still rules the day. I hope the games coming out for Wii U this year help turn the system around. I love it personally and everyone that has sat down with it has fallen in love with the machine.

Re: Miiverse: Super Metroid - Too Taxing For Today's Gamers?

th3r3ds0x

@Ernest_The_Crab

Back when I got Super Metroid (when it launched) I was just out of high school and it was either buy the game or the guide, couldn't really afford both. Having a walk through to play a game totally ruins it. I won't act like there weren't times I didn't get stuck or frustrated but I did manage to figure it all out. That in itself is the reward for beating the game. Games like this were also fun to play with a friend. Play for a while and get stuck, bring in the fresh pair of eyes to keep things moving. Nintendo seems to be the only company nowadays that cares to provide that type of experience. With everyone else it's about online passes etc...

Re: EA Currently Has No Games In Development For The Wii U

th3r3ds0x

Just speaking for myself here but EA doesn't make anything that I would remotely purchase a console for. They are definitely in the "rental" column for me. If they ever did put out something I'd fancy buying I could just get it for one of the other systems. At this point though I plan to support EA about as much as they are supporting Nintendo. I forgot the days when game companies put out fresh content. Now it's mainly sequels or prequels.

Re: Peter Molyneux: If I were Nintendo, I'd Put Mario On The iPad

th3r3ds0x

LOL yea Nintendo should put Mario on the iPad. Because you know playing on a touch screen is WAY more fun than playing on one of the many millions of Nintendo portable systems that have been sold. They even have buttons! Even if the entire home console market went flat tomorrow, Nintendo still rules the handheld market. Why do so many idiots forget this when they are trying to Wii U bash? Maybe Peter should port his games to iPad. I think I've had better experiences on the iPad than with some of his games.

Re: CNN Money: Nintendo Is "Tone Deaf" To Industry Trends And Has "Lost Touch With Reality"

th3r3ds0x

Yea that may be true. I actually have a Vita and think its great but frankly I really don't have the emotional ties to Sony products like I do with Nintendo and that's why I'm so disappointed in Nintendo right now. They really need to get their act together. With the Vita it's basically Sony's fault for the low attachment rate. If they would get out of the memory card business and focus on their console it would sell alot better and the support would be there. With Wii U we are always gonna have this comparison to the newer consoles and probably miss out on quite a few titles. Honestly 3rd party support doesn't really matter to me but Nintendo seems determined to make sure that serious gamers will need a second console in addition to their own in order to play most of the good third party games. Owning just a Wii U alone means missing out on alot.

Re: CNN Money: Nintendo Is "Tone Deaf" To Industry Trends And Has "Lost Touch With Reality"

th3r3ds0x

Well I agree with Nintendo in not releasing their IPs on phones etc but, I think they have done a pretty crappy job in many other areas. Don't get me wrong as I love my Wii U and Nintendo as a whole but there are so many common sense things the competition has been doing for well over half a decade that you can't but should be able to do on Nintendo platforms. The launch of the Wii U has been down right horrible. I've been around for every system launch in history and while there are always game droughts there has never been such a large scale abandonment from a 3rd party perspective. Either game companies are leaving Wii U out of the equation all together or they are screwing over customers with issues like missing DLC on Injustice. I sincerely hope things improve later this year with more good first party game releases. Right now the developers don't seem to have much respect for Nintendo.

Re: Wii U Owners Shunned Again As Warner Refuses To Reveal Injustice DLC Release Date

th3r3ds0x

Classic catch 22: publishers making half bootied ports on Wii u because of the small install base. Small install base because there aren't enough good titles and 3rd party titles are better on rival systems. I bought injustice on Wii U and I'm feeling the sting. Getting really tired of feeling the sting... Think ill be sticking to first party only from this point out. Everything else sucks.

Re: Talking Point: The Importance of the Virtual Console

th3r3ds0x

Honestly I think Nintendo should stop right where they are and retool their infrastructure to support a single login ID and tie all purchases to that ID. Then allow one Wii U and one 3DS to be activated with said ID. Then put out all these wonderful games for play on either system where it's feasible. I would go completely digital if they did this and I would buy alot more games. Cloud based game saves would be the icing on the cake. Imagine MH3 for instance without having to transfer save data between Wii U and 3DS. Everyone else is doing it, they should be too.

Re: Review: Injustice: Gods Among Us (Wii U)

th3r3ds0x

I have the game on Wii U and while I haven't seen it on the 360/PS3 in order to compare I do have Mortal Kombat on the 360 and ill say that this game looks and runs every bit as smooth as MK on the 360. I'm a little bummed by the DLC issue but I love the U and wanted to support it. The off TV feature makes it worth it. If the fix these issues with an update the I would call this the best version. (Special moves on your gamepad when playing on TV is very handy as well)

Re: Talking Point: The Wii U's Identity Crisis

th3r3ds0x

When the Nintendo AAA titles start to roll out I think we'll see some more advertising that will finally peak some interest and have people finding out on their own if they haven't been informed properly by Nintendo that Wii U is a new console and not a Wii add on. I have family members that play games and didn't know what the Wii U was just a month ago. So far Nintendo has done a really poor job advertising and I hope this changes soon. I personally love the Wii U and I'm very anxious for Pikmin, Zelda, Mario, Rayman, etc..

Re: Talking Point: The Terrible Timing of Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate's Stock Issues

th3r3ds0x

Im starting to think Nintendo is TRYING keep the Wii U back. I saw my first commercial for Lego City Undercover this morning on my son's cartoon channel. It was for the 3DS version! What is the deal with the almost total lack of advertising for Wii U? I had to explain to my 15 year old nephew this weekend that Wii U was a new console and not an addon. When I told him about Wind Waker coming out this fall he got excited. Nintendo you're killing me, and yourself as well!

Re: Talking Point: The Unreal Engine 4 Gaffe Exposes Graphical Snobbery, Again

th3r3ds0x

At the end of the day for me at least it will be as it always has been. I'll always have my Nintendo for Nintendo's games. I will enjoy playing the latest Mario, Zelda, Metroid, etc... until the day I die. I'll also enjoy my PS4 and hopefully the next Xbox as well if it doesn't force too much Kinect on me. Sometimes I just want to sit on the couch with a controller. If I want to get up and move around I'll do something else. I'll never understand all the hate that Nintendo seems to get for not having the fastest console on earth. Who cares.

Re: Video: The Wonderful 101 Was Looking Good at PAX East

th3r3ds0x

@Beta I'm with you. I'm looking forward to this game but I also think that as much as games need a good multiplayer I hate to see single player skimped on. I enjoy playing games alone as much as I like playing others if not more so. Wii U needs a good balance of single player and multiplayer.
