Re: Ubisoft Has Halted Development Of Steep On Nintendo Switch

th3r3ds0x

@EightBitMan I’ll just say if the Switch was really supposed to compete in the same space as the Xbox One and PS4 I’d agree. It doesn’t though so I have to disagree. I enjoy it for what it is, a powerful handheld game system that can also play games on a TV. (A feature I never use) Next time you want to compare the switch to the other consoles take the other two out with you and play them without your tv. I’m not dying to have the 3rd party games you mention on my Switch, I have an Xbox One X, PS4 Pro, and PC for those other games. As the install base continues to grow, more and more games will come. Hardcore gamers would probably always have other game systems in addition to their Nintendo. What’s wrong with buying a Nintendo console to play Nintendo games? I don’t get the hate.

Re: Nintendo's Recent Legal Action Against ROM-Sharing Sites Scares Major Player Into Removing Downloads

For all those [removed] at Nintendo, take something you own, something you created. Imagine everyone telling you that you either make it available or they are going to go and take it anyway. Nintendo has a massive old catalog of games obviously and it is solely up to them and their investors which ones they work on to release again. Many are in a state of legal limbo due to expired licenses etc. I’ve no idea how much in terms of resources it requires but if Nintendo thought there was a huge profit potential they would likely make more of these old games available. Either way the entitled stance that so many take is just ridiculous. Nintendo owes nothing and it’s sad that we live in a world where there are so many people who are fine with stealing something if that is their only means of obtaining it.

People should look places beside Amazon. I had no problem ordering a copy from Best Buy, which has already shipped and will be in my hands Wednesday. Was at my local Wal-Mart this morning and they had at least 3 copies still in the case. I’m glad to see it’s doing well. I’ve been looking forward to playing it since it was announced and even more so after reading some reviews and watching some clips from the game.

Re: Exploring The Legalities Of Sony's Fortnite Restrictions On Nintendo Switch

th3r3ds0x

@rjejr well I truly believe they want to please the gamers. At the same time though, no money = no game. They can’t develop the games for free and while the companies are probably run by folks that definitely want to maximize profits, the folks actually making the game probably care very deeply about how the fans feel about their work. If I were a game dev I’d take great pride in the fact that my game had a huge following and Sony’s actions would definitely disappoint me as it frustrates the very people I’m trying to please.

Re: Review: Fallout Shelter (Switch eShop)

I haven’t played this yet on the switch but I did play it extensively on my iPhone and iPad a few years ago. I don’t understand how the touch controls on the switch could be different or worse than an iPhone. I had no issues playing on an iPhone 6s Plus and the Switch has a larger screen. I think the game is a welcome edition to the Switch library.

Re: Pokémon Let's Go Pikachu and Eevee Director Explains Why Motion Controls Are Mandatory

th3r3ds0x

@MrBlacky Pokemon, like Tetris, has been played without motion controls for decades. I’m not dismissing the idea of having motion controls, I’m dismissing the idea that they are the only way. I just simply think it should be a choice. I don’t like motion controls, I started gaming in 1981and to me motion is gimmick, imprecise, just not something I enjoy when playing a video game. Obviously I only speak for myself, but if Nintendo chooses to exclude folks like me, I just think it’s a poor business decision.

Re: Soapbox: Why A Nintendo 64 Classic Edition Might Not Be Such A Good Idea

th3r3ds0x

I think the NES mini was a test to gauge interest. After selling millions they decided to go with the classic edition consoles in place of a Virtual Console for the switch. I think a Nintendo 64 Classic is quite possible but I think that’s where it stops. I suppose they could also do a Game Cube classic but it would require a lot more storage. I’d get in line if they did.

@BradC40 Yea I feel like like Nintendo is using the failure of thee Wii U to justify the prices of these “ports”. Sure there is a large audience that hasn’t played them but they are still ports of older last gen games. 60$ is a stretch. I’m with you, 40$ and I’m picking this up.
