Re: Review: F-Zero Maximum Velocity (GBA) - The First Portable F-Zero Still Holds Up

nuff64

Maximum Velocity is my favorite 2D F-Zero. The music and gameplay are just so good. Tracks are very fun, and it's very intense. I don't feel like GP Legend and Climax were able to follow that same feel. The music in GP Legend and Climax wasn't as good. The bass is lacking, making the music sound like it's missing something, even if you hear it without engine noise.

I'm also a bigger fan of F-Zero X than F-Zero GX due to presentation. That doesn't mean I don't like GX, because I love it, but it just wasn't as good as X in my opinion. Same deal with the 2D F-Zero games. MV and OG F-Zero are my favorites.

Re: Video: These Replacement Joy-Con Sticks Fix Drift Issues, But How Do They Feel In Practice?

nuff64

I bought the gulikit replacement sticks and have had very little problem with them. The main thing that I found issue with is the feel of the joystick texture, which isn't as grippy as the normal Joy-Con texture. I put some Skull & Co FPS grip caps on my Joy-Cons and it helped out immensely. Highly recommended that if you do the Guilkit install, grab these and it'll change your life. I use my Joy-Cons religiously now. Plus I have the neon green ones, which are two solid colored joy-cons instead of the split colors like they only have available now.

Re: Soapbox: Fortnite On Switch Is Five Years Old, And I Have No Idea What It Is Anymore

nuff64

I've been playing consistently since Chapter 2 Season 2. The Switch got me into it, and in my quest to get better, I've since built a PC (for sim racing, but also Fortnite), realized Windows makes starting the game up suck, so I got an Xbox Series S, which is my current main Fortnite console. I still play on Switch, but only when I'm traveling. It's amazing Switch still pulls it off well.

I can't stand the amount of Disney/Marvel shilling they've done, so I mainly only use or purchase Fortnite original skins. I love the aesthetic and character designs. The story, while absolutely nuts, is fun, and the gameplay changes have benefitted the styles of play, be it zero build or build, all without making it too overwhelming.

As a Nintendo fan for all of my life, Fortnite is a solid game in my book. It's the only live game I play, and probably will play. It IS life consuming, and it could have you develop a hard case of FOMO if you aren't careful.

Re: Miles Morales Crosses The Spider-Verse And Straight Into Fortnite

nuff64

@SteamEngenius I'm with you. Whenever a season goes all in on Marvel, I usually step away. I respect those who may be into it, but Marvel's universe just isn't for me. Though Spider Man: Into the Spiderverse was pure gold for me.
Fortnite Crew has supplied me with a few skins that have been getting constant use from me since they were released.

Re: Patent Suggests That New Nintendogs Is On The Horizon, Potentially For Mobile

nuff64

I don't really like the idea. I mean, once Nintendo discontinues the app, what happens to your pet? At least with the DS or 3DS, you can revisit your pet many years later.
I know it's just data, but turning that data into a cute animal still screws with me. Being as sensitive as I am, I can't bring myself to play any of those games anymore due to that odd heartbreak.

Re: Nintendo Download: 29th December (North America)

nuff64

This week has some of the most bootleg game names I've seen yet. I mean, come on... "Farming Real Simulation Tractor, Combine Trucks Farmer Land Game"
"Tuk Tuk Extreme - Real Car Driving Simulator & Parking 2023 Car Games 3D Vehicle"
"Monster Impossible Truck No Limit Adventure Drive Simulator Sport 3D" with a company named INSTAMARKETINGANDGAME?
I'm gonna throw some quick shade and say these are probably a majority stock assets. If this is the work of a young startup with good intentions, then I apologize.

Re: Review: WRC Generations - Rough-Looking Rallying With Too Many Compromises

nuff64

I love WRC9 on Switch, despite no analog controls. I mean, I could use the stick, but I don't wanna. Kinda hoping Nintendo would release Joy-Cons or a pro controller with analog control support, but this late in the life of the Switch, I doubt it. That fact has killed Grid Autosport, WRC9, and Art of Rally for me, though I'm a masochist who really wants to play racing games on my Switch for the portability.
I'm still eyeing this game, but if I weren't on the road so much, I'd just buy it on PC and play it on my proper rig.

Re: Final Fantasy 1 To 6 Have Been Rated For Nintendo Switch By The ESRB

nuff64

I would've been happy playing these on my iPad if they had controller support, which is absent, yet present in games like Final Fantasy IV 3D and Chrono Trigger. Absolutely dirty marketing genius by Square Enix, because they know why I'm going to purchase the Switch versions, and it's because of their little omission.

Re: Start Your Engines, WRC Generations Races Onto Switch This December

nuff64

I'll be getting this, for I've been enjoying the mess out of WRC9.
I just wish Nintendo would release a Joy-Con Pro or something that has analog triggers. Absolutely needed for any racing sim.

Being a sim racing fan on a Nintendo system is painful. I love me some racing sims, but I also like to travel..

Re: Konami Teases New Game In Beloved Series For Tokyo Game Show

nuff64

@DjinnFighter I'd guess Goemon also because in the most recent Apple Acrade Bomberman game, on Bomberman's counter in the menu screen, there's a figure of Goemon Impact, and while sure, that's wild speculation, I figure that at least makes the chances a little bit higher that it'll be Goemon. I hope I'm right in saying this, because a new Goemon game MAY very well be what the world needs to begin nationwide peace talks to end war and stabilize the global economy.

Re: Soapbox: All I Want From Mario Kart 8's DLC Is More Tracks Like Baby Park

nuff64

As an Formula 1 fan, I absolutely hated Baby Park. But recently, I've been getting more into Nascar, and I've come to appreciate the oval. It's different. Different strategy completely, and while yes, chaotic, it's got it's own brand of fun.

...me of 2 years ago and beyond would attempt a dropkick on me right now for saying this.

Re: Devon Pritchard Becomes Nintendo Of America's Newest Executive

nuff64

@HammerGalladeBro @DiggleDog In Deus Ex: Human Revolution on Wii U (and other systems too, but this is a Nintendo site, and somewhat Nintendo reference because of this), you have a buddy you work with that handles upgrades of your augments and is your general tech guy that's named Pritchard. That's the first thing I thought of, so I guess it's kiiinda a reference in this regard?

Re: F-Zero X Is Now Available On Switch Online's Expansion Pack

nuff64

@120frames-please I agree whole-heartedly. The frame rate in this game was one of the features, and I do say features, that brought out the excitement in the game.
If Nintendo did a full on reprogramming like Star Wars Episode 1 racer, I'd be in heaven! That implies online play, and... if that means 30 players in F-Zero X, I'm playing that game for as long as online is available for it!

Re: F-Zero X Is Now Available On Switch Online's Expansion Pack

nuff64

@betterman Definitely. The joy-con is very precise, but the range of motion is fairly small. I have these Joy-Con extender caps from Kontrolfreek that do a really good job of giving a "normal" level of joystick motion that may help out. I might have to do that myself because I can see myself playing a lot of this, at least if Nintendo fixes that frame rate..!
F-Zero X requires a lot of slight movements since the vehicles can throw the back out really easily. That's one of the things I love about the game. It very much feels like what a car of that type would feel like! I believe it to feel better than F-Zero GX in that regard!
Regardless, I'd recommend checking out those Joy-Con extenders if you play first person shooters or things that need a bit more precision on the go.

Re: F-Zero X Is Now Available On Switch Online's Expansion Pack

nuff64

I got really excited because it’s my favorite 3D F-Zero, but once I played it, the frame rate is not even close to as smooth as the N64 original, which I played very recently, so it’s quite fresh in my head. It’s bad enough that it’s distracting. So much for my dreams of a portable F-Zero X. Here’s hoping Nintendo fixes it soon.

Re: Retro: Back In 1996, Nintendo 64 Was The Must-Have Christmas Gift - Alongside 'Tickle Me Elmo'

nuff64

I didn't get mine for Christmas, for I had bought it with lunch money I had saved up by starving myself. I did get Killer Instinct Gold for Christmas though, which was awesome.

@Arckadius I liked Tetrisphere, but wasn't as into the game as much as I was the soundtrack. If you haven't given it a second glance since you were young, go revisit that soundtrack. Hallucid, Learn, Azure Lux, Compliant Confuse.. all great songs!

Re: Nintendo Switch OLED Pre-Orders Go Live In Japan Later This Month

nuff64

@Bratwurst35 This sounds like me. OLED is an awesome screen technology and those contrast ratios in portable play will be amazing! For me, it'll make all the difference, even if the performance hasn't changed. I'm perfectly fine with playing games like Fortnite, The Witcher 3, and whatever else runs at 30fps on my sweet new OLED screen. Portability and also knowing that my console uses little to no power to push games as amazing as it does is everything to me. The Switch is wizardry, not to mention eco-friendly.

Re: Poll: Why Do You Collect Video Games?

nuff64

I have a giant backlog of games that I plan to tackle when I retire, assuming I even get to, or make it that far in life. If I make it, there's gonna be a lot of portable gaming in the bed at the nursing home in the year 2060 or whatever

Re: Factor 5 Almost Ported Super Castlevania IV To The Sega Mega Drive

nuff64

Knowing Factor 5's skill level and hearing all of these stories on how their projects got scrapped, it makes me really wonder what the heck these publishers were thinking back then. How could you deny Factor 5??

Of course, I'm speaking as a gamer who knows their chops throughout the years, and not a developer at the time when Factor 5 was proving themselves.

Re: ARMS Update Adds LAN Play and Arena Mode

nuff64

@bluesdance It's not all mine, for a few friends brought their equipment over. I had 3 TV's and the network switch, plus my own dock + Switch. By our powers combined, we had LAN play, and it was great!

Re: Guide: Become a Pro ARMS Fighter with these 8 Great Techniques & Tips

nuff64

Mechanica has served me well online. I find Ninjara online is most prone to being a grab spammer, but not to difficult to dodge.
I played a really precise Master Mummy the other night. Blocking when needed, attacked very sparingly, but made sure it counted. Possibly one of the best matches I've had.

I believe Ribbon Girl is top tier, judging from just how her weave is. A good Ribbon Girl can basically jump into a super and dodge every hit. I've seen it happen, and it blows my mind every time.
