Konami announced its Tokyo Game Show line-up earlier today. The annual convention, which starts on 15th September, will play host to several developers and publishers. We've already talked about one title that snuck into the company's line-up — the 1996 arcade game Cannon Dancer — but it's also been teasing another announcement in a series that's " loved all over the world", but not from one of its biggest series, reports VGC.
On 16th September at 3:30pm JST (that's 11:30pm PST on 15th, or 2:30am EST / 7:30am BST on 16th), Konami will be announcing a new title related to a beloved series from the company. This is enough to get anyone excited, of course. However, VGC's source has reported that this new title will likely be related to a smaller project, and not those rumours of a Castlevania, Silent Hill, and Metal Gear Solid revival.
So, what does that leave us with? Konami is already showcasing Bomberman R 2 during the event. There's always the Suikoden series — though franchise creator Yoshitaka Murayama is off creating his own Kickstarter spiritual successor in Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes. Or, how about a new Lost in Blue game?
During this unknown announcement, voice actor Yuji Kaji — who's famous for voicing Adol in Ys VIII and Ys IX, Takumi in Fire Emblem Fates, and Hope Estheim in Final Fantasy XIII — will be making a guest appearance, as someone who is apparently representing the fans.
We'll try not to get our hopes up too much, but we're at least curious. Konami has been doing a great job with its compilations as of recent — the Contra Anniversary Collection, Castlevania Anniversary Collection, and the Castlevania Advance Collection are all fantastic, and the just-released Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Cowabunga Collection is also kicking shell.
You can check out Konami's full TGS 2022 line-up over on its official website

It's GOEMON TIME
Probably another Pro Yakyuu (baseball) game. It's the only thing Konami does consistently anymore.
Let's just get this out of the way: it's probably not going to be the one you want. That being said though, I'd love to see a new Goemon or PROPER Contra game.
Calling it now: A new game in the "Antarctic adventure"-series!
Whatever it is, prepare for disappointment.
Though Parodius was one of the first franchises they ruined (by turning it into a gambling game, since NFTs were over a decade away from being invented).
Konami doing anything with its franchises in this day and age is the world’s biggest monkey’s paw.
Survival/Stranded Kids
Rumble Roses, it’s gotta be Rumble Roses.
the obvious answer is that it's clearly a new Bio Miracle Bokutte Upa game.
(i'm joking)
Boktai, yeah!
No?
I would pay a fortune for MGS collection on Switch!!!! Pleaaaase Konami! MGS on Switch!!!!!!!!!
I know it won't be Silent Hill.
Yeah why would they make a new Castlevania, it's not like there was a hit Netflix series that boosted interest in the series. Or Silent Hill. Nobody wants a new Silent Hill.
*** In all fairness, I don't want a new Silent Hill either. I just want the original 4 playable on modern systems without serious graphical defects.
I wish the Suikoden games would get ported to modern consoles. I never got the chance to play them during the PS1 era, and I really do not want to pay what people are charging for them on eBay to play the PS1 versions now…
Seeing the Switch is a JRPG machine, it would make sense for a beloved long missed game like Suikoden to get a collection or in a miracle a new game.
So I’m guessing a Pachinko Frogger game.
Lets go wild …. Bomberman 64 3 (forget about that Super R crap) and …. Animaniacs 2
Rakuga Kids 2!
@Znake it would be neat if it had Twin Snakes, since that has been a GameCube exclusive. They could probably make it check for save data from Smash Ultimate or Super Mario 3D All Stars for the Psycho Mantis fight, but I don't know how you'd be able to reconnect your controller into the fourth socket.
Seeing that picture of Goemon makes me smile, that game was sooo much fun.
PLUAAAASMAAA!
Those cutscenes back then lol, was for me like watching a movie.
@Fizza
Yes Goemon day one for me.
While I'm going to keep my expectations in check (for every decent Super Bomberman R, there's a Metal Gear Surivive or a Contra Rogue Corps), I am hoping at the very least to someday get a Goemon collection that finally brings the NES and SNES games to the West.
@Gitface If still possible, they are dirt cheap on the PS3 online store. 1, 2 and 3 are amazing.
Contra, Axelay, Gradius, Parodius, Castlevania. Stand more chance ***** in the Queens hand bag!! Than these legends getting resurrected.
It's definitely Goemon
A sexy Goemon pachinko exclusive to Japan's gambling places. It's what we all have been waiting for
Who is the green ghost in the image?
Castlevania DS Collection? Surely wouldn't be that much effort to remove the second screen stuff.
@DjinnFighter this is the comment I came to find. I’m so happy I’m not the only fan
@KayFiOS yeah MG1,MG2, Twin Snakes would be great along with 2,3 and 4 what a collection that would be! If they added something with Smash, that would be fun, but less likely since they would release on all platforms probably.
Does it have anything to do with Hudson Soft's IPs? It probably doesn't. I know Super Bomberman R 2 is coming, but how about Adventure Island or Bonk?
Whatever it is, it probably will be pachinko or NFT related.
Why can't Konami just sell their IPs to Nintendo (Goemon, Bomberman...) and/or Sony (Castlevania, Metal Gear...) and be done with it?
Which IP would fit whom best?
Would love a en_* localized Goemon collection since we only got 3 out of the 10 or so games that were made in that franchise.
Gradius? Dance Dance Revolution? Do they still own Frogger?
METAL GEAR SURVIVE 2
@PanFriedSoup We got 5 (6 in Europe) of the 26 games made in that franchise
@Daniel36 I was not aware of that. I will have to add this to my already lengthy list of reasons I regret selling my PS3 8 years ago...
Finger crossed for SUIKODEN!
Question : What would you like to see Konami bring back?
Me : DANCE DANCE REVOLUTION !!!
Also...
Beatmania IIDX !
I love Konami's classic series as much as the next guy, but this is modern Konami we're talking about.
In early 2018, if I told you Konami was making a new Contra game, you might have gotten excited. But we all know how that turned out; Contra Rogue Corps was awful!
A new Goemon, Gradius, Suikoden, Sparkster, etc. all sound great on paper, but do you trust modern Konami to do it justice?
I have a hard time even getting to levels of cautious optimism for anything other than a retro compilation from modern Konami given their track record.
@DjinnFighter I'd be jealous because I am a huge fan of Legend of the Mystical Ninja for SNES, but then I remember Europe was screwed out of a bunch of Square games in the SNES era.
You guys ready for another hit, like Contra Rogue Corps? Maybe with a couple of NFTs to go along with it?
It's not going to be Goemon, is it?
I'm trying to think of the most random series Konami has had throughout their lineup as a joke but even some of Konami's most random stuff can be fun so you guys gotta make the joke here lol
New Dance Dance Revolution!
Konami Krazy Racers?
I hope it is goemon, but it doesn't need to be a new game, if they release a collection in the same quality as TMNT I would already be very satisfied, the world needs to know this wonderful franchise that in my opinion has some of the best side scrollers ever made
Oh let it be a new Rocket Knight Adventure. My boy Sparkster needs a proper comeback after they ruin him in that 2010 PS3 / Xbox 360 / PC abomination.
@lavtz
Heck i would love to see that especially if it contained the 2 games for n64.
(in regards to a tmnt quality collection)
@DjinnFighter I'd guess Goemon also because in the most recent Apple Acrade Bomberman game, on Bomberman's counter in the menu screen, there's a figure of Goemon Impact, and while sure, that's wild speculation, I figure that at least makes the chances a little bit higher that it'll be Goemon. I hope I'm right in saying this, because a new Goemon game MAY very well be what the world needs to begin nationwide peace talks to end war and stabilize the global economy.
Didn't this site once post that the devs behind Goemon was working on something a while back? Whatever happened to that?
Still. +1 wishing for Goemon. Doesn't even have to be a new game. I'll happily buy an HD port of Goemon's Great Adventure.
Konami, it's time for a new:
.. I mean we probably won't get any of these especially in the vein desired knowing Con-ami these days but..
... Wun can only hope.
Better be silent hill
Castlevania 64 remake! Haha could you imagine?
Please be Goemon. Please Konami.
Konami Arcade Collection 2 or expansion pack featuring:
Jackal
Lethal Enforcers
Gradius 4
The Devastators
Metamorphic Force
The Simpsons
Parodius
Silent Scope
What i wish: Silent Hill + a port
What I predict: DDR or Castlevania (they saw the money potential from how popular the Netflix show is)
@Znake you not alone
@wuntyme8 "Con-ami" sounds accurate enough, LOL.
Gradius V please. It’s never been released for a portable system.
