Update [Mon 18th Apr, 2022 14:00 BST]: The Final Fantasy Uniqlo range has officially been announced and will be available in Japan from April 29th.
Each shirt represents one game from the mainline series and will cost 1,500 yen ($11). For true collectors, a "Complete Box" will also be available to purchase which contains all shirts in the collection. This will cost 24,900 yen ($196), however there are only 5000 available.
You can check out the range via the official Uniqlo website. There's currently no word on whether the collection will be made available outside of Japan.
Original Story [Tue 12th Apr, 2022 12:15 BST]:
Japanese clothing company Uniqlo - which has stores in multiple countries - has accidentally revealed an upcoming Final Fantasy t-shirt range, with sixteen on offer to represent each mainline entry in the series.
The collection will celebrate the 35th anniversary of the series and was revealed on Uniqlo's Vietnamese website before being swiftly removed. The damage was already done, however, with the Malaysian news site KakuchoPurei grabbing shots of the whole range (thanks, VGC!).
Final Fantasy has had a long history on Nintendo platforms, with the Switch itself playing host to Final Fantasy VII, Final Fantasy VIII, Final Fantasy IX, Final Fantasy X/X-2, and Final Fantasy XII.

Wow, looks like I’ll just have to get….. ALL OF THEM.
Goodbye money…
A fantastic (mostly) game series has given birth to some underwhelming t-shirts. Or is it just me?
I was gonna save money by not spending it on videogames... well, these technically aren't videogames so...
that FF6 shirt is such a clean design. I like it!
Love that they’ve got FFXVI in there too!
FF1 and FFVI are my favourite designs here - but they’re all good.
I find the t-shirt of VIII very underwhelming
In the pattern of how these collaborations usually go down: months from now they'll finally make it to the UK, a month after that I'll remember they were a thing, there will be weird-sized stock left of FFII and FFXIII t-shirts. All along I'll be quietly grumbling that they forgot Tactics.
(I kind of want the XIV one).
I wish I could be a sexy young millennial like them
Wear these if you want to get beat up.
I'd prefer something more subtle.
Which to be fair would be tricky for older titles, but 7 for example, the Shinra logo or that awful SeeD logo from 8.
The 8/16 bit ones are decent. But the ones I'd be most interested in: 7, 8, 9 & 10 are just the laziest designs ever. How could they be so unimaginative?
Not a fan of the designs, but I can't say no to a licensed FFXI shirt.
I would probably buy the FF1 design, the others I feel are so... meh.
Except FF5, I like how simple it is.
@jedisquidward
It's your lucky day, you just have to purchase all those t shirts and then you are
I rather like some of these. FFVI looks great.
Love the FFV chocobos!
@AlexanderDaniels I think you're confused. These are Final Fantasy shirts not S&M shirts.
I’d like to have all of them, but VI, IX & definitely XII will be must haves for me.
I thought it said Final Fantasy Duplo.
You know, the Legos for babies.
They'd have embraced the OG FF7 look!
This shirts are kinda bland... overpriced for what is being offered. Some of them are really cool though and worth buying, but only a few. I am definitely digging that FF14 design.
@Lordplops Uniqlo always releases a range of ugly shirts with 1 or 2 great ones sprinkled in.
Nice choice of focus on the VI shirt. The other possible focus would have been the opera, or I guess .... hmmm... well, either a general image of Kefa or his final form. No, I think the opening was a decent choice if they didn't want to go with the opera.
Final Fantasy had been on a downward spiral as of late so not that interested in buying their merch.
I might consider it, if pricing weren't an option. I DO have other priorities in mind. Namely, going to see Sonic the Hedgehog 2, saving $20 on Knuckles from Build-A-Bear, and saving up for a good priced Gaming laptop.
I still get excited to see new Uniqlo collabs but I feel they've been very lackluster as time has gone on. Like many of these, even FFVI, they're just slapping sprites on there. FFVIII is just a picture from the game.
The Demon Slayer ones felt similar. Later pokemon ones have been overall a bit lackluster. Kingdom had some good ones but still felt they could have done more. The Nintendo ones back in the day were really good. They were still clean but had some interesting and fun designs.
@coolaggro @xiao7 couldn't agree more. The designs from FFVII onwards are just screens. I can just literally ask my friend to print them for me. Some of the sprite based designs are cool though. The Minecraft and Pokemon designs are way better though. Have a few of those myself.
Eh, they could of gotten someone to do art for them? Like I can do this right now with an iron and a printed paper. What a anniversary this is.
Well, glad I needed new shirts. 1-6 are MIIIIINE. Oh, and that XV one too. Got fond memories of road tripping with the bros.
Some of these are pretty bad. That FF2 one in particular is awful.
@Lordplops Not one of these gives me even an inkling of consideration to dish money out for them, and I’ve been itching to spend money!
They’re not great are they. Though I for one like the minimalism of some of these. Subtle enough that it looks kinda cool to the average punter yet those who know know, but not so in your face that you are walking talking garish billboard. Just a shame they aren’t better.
Uniqlo have really good quality clothes that last. I might like these T-shirt designs if I were 10.
I like uniqlo's regular clothes. But often their pop culture shirts are really bad. I mean... not bad... but more uninspired.
@AlexanderDaniels Just don’t go wearing it out in areas you aren’t leveled up enough for. Problem solved.
Ok, I will see myself out now…
The shirts are pretty good 😃
I hope FF XVI is set in Ivalice. But VI, IX, XII and XIV are must haves for me.
we live in a world where Final Fantasy clothes are fashion. gamers have won. =P
wow, dan harmon lost a lot of weight
I can't be the only one who finds those shirt designs largely uninspired and CERTAINLY not worth whatever they're charging.
