It’s an intriguing game. It has an incredible haunting atmosphere that stays with you long after playing. I was living in Spain at the time I did my first playthrough so all the catholic imagery really clicked. One of my favourite Indies in recent memory. This and Hollow Knight were made for Switch.
Most games are designed to be addictive. That's a fact and it goes back to their origins in the arcade. The 'addictiveness' quality of a game was often rated in game reviews during the late 80's in magazines such as CVG and Mean Machines. It was replaced by the word 'playability' and 'gameplay' over time. If a game is highly addictive it's considered a good game.
Like many others here I’ve had my eye on this for ages. It’s been on my Steam wish list for literally years. I’m excited to see if there is a good game behind all that lush pixel art. A Switch debut makes perfect sense.
I’ll definitely check this out at some point. If they keep refining it like Bloodstained it’ll turn out well in the end. I love R-Type like few other games. First played the Electric Dreams port on Atari ST, then discovered the amazing PC Engine hu card which I still return to now and again.
We need to boycott Capcom. Its a real shame because they have been on a roll lately, but news they have mistreated their employees to achieve that is despicable indeed.
Really cannot wait for this! Thought it’s existence must be BS when it was first leaked. This is further proof that Capcom are still at their peak and in touch with gamers.
TLOU2 ..the most over rated game I’ve ever played. Solid enough gameplay that’s been cut and pasted in from the first one and technically cutting edge, but no RDR2. It’s virtually a walking simulator in places. Naff and predictable choice.
@bluemage1989 I was hoping that M2 might tackle this because their Sega Ages Space Harrier release on the Switch was awesome 😊 GF2 was a damn fine super scaler game.
@chiptoon I love it because it was apart of my childhood. It’s significant to Sega because i believe it was the very first arcade game ported to the Megadrive. It hasn’t aged well but back in the day it looked quite handsome running on a cabinet.
I’m super excited to see what they do with this. As others have pointed out it’s a remake so they can push it into interesting new places. No matter what I’m sure it’ll be brilliant.
@ShadowSmile the Switch has not proven that inferior hardware ‘isn’t everything’ in the market that XBox and PS4 are in. Nintendo haven’t offered a viable alternative to PlayStation since GameCube. That’s why Microsoft is relevant.
@ShadowSmile Xbox is still very relevant. Without it there’s nothing to stop Sony monopolising the games industry and that’s a very bad thing for consumers. Superior hardware, Halo Infinite and many other unannounced first party titles will push Sony much harder next gen.
I own most of those games in their original JAMMA board form. To all the guys half my age here ..Toaplan might be the best games developer you’ve never heard of.
@dres ‘lesser experienced studios...’ You massively underestimate the technical skill many of these port studios have. They’re often lead by ex AAA studio programmers.
This is essential for me! Anime, mechs, big gun action all done in a cell shaded style by veteran Japanese developers? Can’t believe how spoilt Switch owners are now
This game is a milestone that ushered in a new era of video game graphics. It's more like an Resident Evil game than the previous installments ...spooky as hell and one of my all time favs!
Those abysmal XBox numbers. I know MS don't focus on the Japanese market anymore but when you consider how much money they've invested in previous years it's still an atrocious result.

Re: Round Up: Realms Deep 2021 - Every Game Coming To Nintendo Switch
Graven has great potential! The early access build I played was very short so hoping they will build a far more substantial game.

Re: Daemon X Machina Is Getting A First Anniversary Update This November
Very good game. Unfortunately it came out at a busy time of the year and mech games are inherently niche. Looking forward to playing it again.

Re: Sega Just Announced A New Micro-Console, And It's Packed With 36 Arcade Gems
I hope they do a better job with CRT filter options. The Neo mini has a crappy smoothing filter that’s just pointless.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (June 13th)
Classic arcade games ...SEGA Ages Space Harrier (tremendous port) and In the Hunt are my current favs. Might get back into Hollow Knight.
