I don't think Nintendo has much to fear. MS still fundamentally doesn't understand the gaming market. Kinect? Almost no XBox One exclusive games? Game Pass? 10 years of farting about buying other companies to be successful.
Absolum really turned out better than I expected. It's a very slick and satisfying beat'em up that homages 90's belt action classics. It's a Streets of Rage killer.
Looks stunning. I didn't watch the whole video because it's showing too many spoilers but it's clear they're being very faithful to the series. I recently played Super Shinobi on a Mega SG and was amazed how well it held up so this is a must play. Golden Axe next please Lizard Cube!
Love this game. Very chill to play but there are some solid gameplay hooks to keep you engaged. Inventory is very well done imo. It looks and sounds great too.
I've never seen a piece of AI art that can get anywhere near the work of a good human. I understand that non-artists will feel empowered by the software but that was true when Photoshop first came out too.
@thinkhector using the RE engine should give them tons of capability to do just what you described. They can overlay whatever they want at a resolution independent of what the game is displayed at. I guess it comes down to a lack of interest on their part. I bet the dev team for Arcade Stadium consists of 2 interns working from a tiny windowless room in Capcom's basement.
@thinkhector I was wrong about the scanlines working when the display mode is set to Arcade screen size. In Arcade Stadium all the horizontal scanline options are well and truly buggered in both Normal and Arcade modes. I'm ok with fake scanlines and love the way M2 have them working in the Konami collections. Haven't seen Sonic but I'm sure you're right so it shouldn't be a big ask for Capcom. Hoping they eventually listen to the feedback and improve them.
@thinkhector i'd be happy with that too. I found that if I set the display size to 'Arcade' the horizontal scanline options work correctly. This shrinks the rendered area some 20% so it's a deal breaker undocked but at least it's an option for docked play. I contacted Capcom about this issue directly and was told it was the 'intention' of the developers to have scanlines implemented this way. Hmm. There must be different developers on this to other Capcom compilations because the Belt Action Collection has working scalines.
@thinkhector I was thinking that because they have embedded MAME into the RE ENGINE they could apply a scanline overlay that's completely independent of the emulation rendering. So whatever scaling adjustments they have made to run MAME full screen wouldn't matter. The display filter that simulates CRT curvature is an example of them already using this capability.
I completely agree with Kate's view that it's one of the games of the last decade. Very few games have such strong fundamentals and it's a pleasure to play undocked making it a flagship Switch title.
I preordered this so glad to know it's every bit as good as it looked last year. I personally love the cab livery art style and think it was a good call not to go the pixel route. It was great in the first game but it was dictated by the tech of its time so why not do it fresh.

Re: Xbox's Pentiment Is Getting A Limited Run Physical Switch Release, Pre-Orders Live
Been hoping for a physical release since day one. It's a really quirky, funny and meticulously researched game. The art style in itself is inspired.

Yes, I'm there. I still have a PC boxed copy somewhere.
Re: Kickstarter Is Cracking Down On AI And Promoting Human Creativity

Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl: Duel - Batman Returns (SNES)
The US version is so lazy and uninspired. This perfectly demonstrates why the import scene was so strong during the 16bit era.

The game it's actually called 'Dr Anus'. It looks like an 'i' but it's not.

If the scanlines are still not scaled correctly like in Arcade Stadium 1 I'm not interested. Kudos to the reviewer for pointing this out.

Just no! DD2 is next gen already so get over it. The first one was hard enough to port over.
Re: Review: Capcom Arcade Stadium - A Rich Tour Through The Coin-Op History Of A True Legend
Capcom please fix the scanlines. They are not scaled correctly for either 1080p or 720p. Seriously.

Re: M2 Is Bringing Yet Another Classic Shmup To Switch Next Year
I wish they would put at least half a dozen different games on a cart. At this rate its gonna take 10 years to get Tatsujin 2 or Dogyuun.
