3D Realms - the legendary publisher behind series like Duke Nukem - is hosting Realms Deep 2021 this weekend. As part of this, there have been a number of world premieres and updates on some fan favourites.
This even includes some Switch-related announcements - so we've rounded everything up (including the trailers) into a single post. Enjoy!
Cultic - 2022
Cultic is a horror-themed shooter with classic visuals and modern combat developed by Jasozz Games and published by 3D Realms, launches a free shareware episode featuring the game’s first map on PC today. Investigate the horrors of mid-century Northwest America in a shooter built with sprites and voxels reminiscent of the ‘90s on PC, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch in 2022.
Ion Fury: Aftershock - Q1 2022
Ion Fury: Aftershock the upcoming expansion pack for the old-school first-person shooter developed by Voidpoint and published by 3D Realms and 1C Entertainment, continues Shelly Harrison’s adventure on Steam, Nintendo Switch™, PlayStation® 4, and Xbox One in Q1 2022. To bridge the gap between the upcoming expansion, a new patch for Ion Fury launches in September with revamped controller support, improved features for mappers, and improved weapon balancing. A new pocket inventory system gives Shelly the power to store power-ups for when she really wants to stick it to Dr. Jadus Heskel.
Graven - Coming 2022
Graven appears to have been delayed for consoles and will now release on Nintendo Switch, Xbox and PlayStation in 2022. At Realms Deep 2021, the developer showed off the second Early Access update for PC build:
Action, mystery, and a chance for redemption await you in the gritty action first person puzzler GRAVEN. Explore a dark fantasy world as a wrongly convicted man of faith. Battle the horrors of humanity, the wilds, and beyond using the environment, magic, and armaments. Update 2 features: Coop, Cruxfirth Archives, Weapons Upgrades, The Alchemist & more!
We've also got one bonus announcement - and while there's no confirmation for Switch or console platforms just yet, Nightdive Studios has revealed it's reviving the 1996 Sega Saturn title PowerSlave Exhumed by Lobotomy Software. It's apparently "coming soon" to PC (GOG) and makes use of both the Saturn and PSone versions. Here's a look:

All of those look amazing! Graven especially!
It's nice to see 3D Realms with a solid line-up of retro shooters. I kinda had the feeling that the aftermath of D.N. Forever had damaged them irreparably.
Here's to a new golden age for the company.
While I am not interested, I kinda dog that they call the demo for Cultic shareware.
Looking forward to Graven.
Even more so the Ion Fury expansion as it is still the best FPS on the system.
@Elvie
None of the same people are in charge anymore as back in those days. You may well say that DNF damaged 3D Realms irreperably.
When they went under, Gearworks got to keep the Nuke Nukem franchise, because they were piecing together the remnants of Forever. The name 3D Realms itself, however, and all legacy IP were bought out by Interceptor (now Slipgate Ironworks,) the developers responsible for the 2013 reimagining of Rise of the Triad.
Those people and their associates across the globe are the ones putting these new games on display, seeking to reinvigorate the brand.
Graven looks interesting….
As a huge fan of Duke Nukem 3D and the classic Doom games, I probably should have Ion Fury in my collection by now. Once I finish Wolfenstein 2 I'll download it.
The other 2 games look great, especially Graven but I already knew about it.
So Cultic is essentially Blood.
That's not a bad thing. Not at all. But like most of you I'm drawn towards Graven.
This looks great. I'm so aboard.
Cultic and Graven caught my eye. Will download the demo for Cultic when I get home today.
Getting a sequel/expansion to Ion Maiden instead of Bombshell is simultaneously grand and disheartening. I seem to be one of maybe five people on planet Urth who enjoyed the original more?
On the other hand, Exhumed coming back based on the Saturn version is best news of this bunch, for sure.
@Pod Well, 3D Realms' founder, Scott Miller, is still involved with the company as Chief Creative Officer.
All of these look fantastic. I am especially jazzed at Nightdive working on an update for POWERSLAVE. (Where is SHADOW MAN!?!?)
Yeah, more ion fury!!
Also powerslave was really awesome
Graven has great potential! The early access build I played was very short so hoping they will build a far more substantial game.
@John_Koshiro
They did bring back beloved and legendary staff members, yes, but the chief creative officer is not the one who calls the shots on what to spend money on, or when to ship a product.
Graven looks frickin awesome. I really hope the gameplay incorporates more than just run and gun, because that visual design and atmosphere deserves at least a little bit of slower paced gameplay, story, and puzzle solving.
Graven is the only one here I'd be interested in. I wouldn't mind some motion controls on my first person view shooter style gameplay too please.
Interesting additions.
Wow, those games all have the graphics style, perspective, etc, i dislike the most. I guess i should stay away from this publisher's games.
I'm buying them all
