It was way back in October last year that we highlighted Wing of Darkness, a high-octane mech shooter that was originally planned for a February release date. Though it didn't hit that original target it does arrive this week, on 3rd June, and looks like it'll be well worth a look.
Developed by Production Exabilities and published by Clouded Leopard Entertainment, it'll cost $29.99USD / £24.99; it has a physical release along with a collector's edition in Asia, but considering its relatively niche status it's perhaps not surprising that it's download-only in Europe and North America. The story does have voice acting in Japanese - with subtitles in various languages, of course - and it looks like it's full of potential.

Here's the launch trailer that the developers put out earlier this month.
Is this one for the eShop wishlist?

Been unsure about this one since it was announced. It looks like it could be fun but I need some reviews and impressions to be sure. Might eventually grab a physical copy I end up getting convinced by it and they're still available.
I've been wanting a mech combat game on Switch and was looking at Daemon X Machina. I wonder if this would be more worth my time?
It reminds me liberation maiden on the 3ds
Looks pretty good from the trailer, although the gameplay looks more like Ace Combat but with a mech suit to me. That’s not a bad thing though!
It looks way too slow and simple to be a proper mech game. It's more like a ship with a mech skin.
Well got my Amazon preorder will wait to see how it is.
Got the physical version pre-ordered, been a fair wait but hope it's worth it.
Missed out on the collectors edition sadly.
This looks pretty decent. And only 30 dollars? I might have to try it out. I was all ready to repeat my rant about great 2D character design with lazy 3D graphics like on that other article - but this game actually looks like it does a pretty good job with it's designs.
I like anime girls, and I like mechs. So this is worth a look for sure.
@BenAV yeah I've been chasing the feeling armoured core gave me back in the day and haven't found it yet. Hope this reviews favourably and has some of the stuff I look for in Mecha games
I don’t want this. I want Raiden. Hamster, where you at?
@Giygas_95 Personally, I would choose the mech shooter made from the ground up for Switch over the Multiplatform one.
This video looks pretty, but it's clearly footage taken from the maxed out PC version. I wouldn't jump on purchasing until you see direct Switch footage, with performance reviews. Unfortunately for smaller third-party titles, the Switch port tends to be more downgraded than it is optimized.
On the other hand, DXM has an extreme aesthetic, what with all the red + metal music, and this game looks interestingly blue, almost as a counterpoint.
@Ulysses Good points, and yes, I do still think I'd like to go with DXM. I do also like the aesthetic differences you pointed out! I'm just waiting on a sale on DXM currently.
@Giygas_95 No. Get Ex Machina. It’s excellent and the best mech game the Switch is going to get.
@mrjingles75 Will do! I need to play the demo some more.
