Last week, id Software dropped DOOM Eternal's second DLC, The Ancient Gods - Part Two, on every platform but the Switch.
Despite the fact the Nintendo version of the game hasn't even got the first part of the expansion yet, executive producer Marty Stratton and game director Hugo Martin have now told fans to "stay tuned" for more DOOM Eternal updates later this year.
As we noted last week, Bethesda previously confirmed the "campaign expansions" are on their way to the Switch, although a release date for this platform remains unknown. DOOM Eternal first arrived on 20th March last year but wasn't available on the Switch until 8th December, and was a digital-only release.
In related news, Bethesda (including id Software) was recently acquired by Microsoft and has now joined team Xbox. Will you be checking out DOOM Eternal's part one and two expansion when and if it arrives on the Switch? Comment below.

I'm tired of making hell jokes; I'm interested in more Doom and excited for the 0.1% chance of any new Doom games coming to Nintendo platforms, now go back to saying that March 31st is the death of Mario.
Give me DOOM Eternal + DLC + software updates on a cart and I'll be totes chuffed.
I'll also triple-dip on DOOM 2016 if they release it via GOG as they recently did with the Wolfenstein and Evil Within games.
Blech. Still annoyed that they waited 9 months to tell Switch owners that they can't get a physical version. Now there's almost no communication on the Switch getting the DLC. I get it if it's hard to work with, but the lack of communication is generally annoying.
I would totally buy Doom Eternal + DLC on a physical cartridge. I hope such a package comes out eventually. Making an 18GB+ game digital only just doesn't make the grade.
I’m here to echo all the current sentiments of “I’d GAF if it was physical.”
Smaller indie games are fine as digital only (and even then, most of those I get physically if they exist anyway (thank you, Limited Run)), but I already had to smoosh so much data from the physical carts of Bioshock, FFX-2, and Spyro onto my SD card that not even having the option for Eternal just keeps it at bay for me.
This is to say nothing of the quality of the game; I’m sure it’s fantastic. But with the ever continuing practice of developers flat-out refusing to utilize 32gb carts, despite the availability of them (thanks, Witcher III, and literally no other game outside of Japan), I’ll continue my practice of not purchasing them.
Probably a PC/Android/Series S/X game, so it will be a impossible port to Switch.
0% chance of it hitting PS5.
I still think there will be selected ports to Switch, but just not New-Gen Doom, Elder Scrolls 6, Starfield etc.
My guess is Battletoads Remake port is a possebility for Switch.
Was definitely among those wanting to pick this game up physically on Switch. Since it's on gamepass I'll probably just play it on that when I get around to it
Let me fix that subtitle for you:
"Switch players are still waiting for the physical release"
Thinking the news might coincide with a Doom Guy in Smash announcement around E3 maybe
Will just play it on Xbox instead of waiting and I dont have to put up with downgrades to play it portable with Xcloud.
Still questioning why they never chose physical. It's only 17.5gb, which either means a small extra download from a 16gb Game Card or no download at all from a 32gb Game Card. What's the reason?
Ancient Gods isn't good, it is like an third Party Expansion Pack from the 90s / early 2000s.
@JR150 Panic Button had to squeeze every bit of power out of the Switch that they could. The game doesn't even let you presently capture videos, because that would put a ding in performance. The Switch loads faster from digital storage than it does from its game cards; so it may be entirely possible that the game CAN'T run from a physical game card, as it may need those slightly faster digital loading times.
Please release a complete collection on cartridge.
@GEKGanon
My issue isn't so much with the digital-only part itself. I have lots lf digital games on my Switch. Rather, I'm annoyed that they waited almost a year to tell us it would be digital only. If they told us earlier in the year, then I wouldn't be as annoyed. That lack of communication killed any interest I had in the game and has made me very hesitant towards Bethesdea's support for Switch going forward.
Even if they confirm that they're making a game for Switch, why should I believe that it's actually going to come out on time if they refused to let people know about Doom Eternal and still haven't given an update on the Switch version getting the DLC?
TL;DR: They no longer have my trust as a consumer.
@JR150 I feel ya. They could have communicated it earlier. If it was a matter of scrapping physical in order to get it to run, I'm wondering if maybe that was something they didn't realize until later on.
I want physical dammit
Pretty sure a physical release will happen eventually. A collection with the first one included too.
I have no idea how they're going to get Ancient Gods on Switch. There is so much going on screen throughout both DLC's.
So finally a Physical comes to Switch??????
