Kinda confusing because the Nintendo switch is mentioned in one breath, CRTs in the next. CRTs were not really a thing when switch came out. And you can’t really connect a switch to one. Maybe that’s not the point.

Believe me, North America has much more work to do than the UK when it comes to trains. Anyway, Amtrak is a federal program, so it’ll soon be shut down by Elon musk I’m sure.

I’m sure amtrak employees will love it when people start trying to bring their CRTs on board 😝

@Bunkerneath if they’re using the Japanese version, it’s not very grindy. The working designs version amped the difficulty some. I still didn’t feel like grinding was really necessary, and I’m guessing the Japanese version is a lot easier.

@Browny No, I'm sure you're correct.

Maybe the designs will end up similar to the music was in 11, where (sort of as usual) many of the old designs get used, and a few new pop in. I know Yuji Hori has done some of the designs in the past, but I don't know if he still does that.

I suppose the music will again be a mix of old and new, maybe mostly old, and Sugiyama's offspring providing new... I wasn't such a fan of the new music in 11, but I didn't mind hearing the old music!

All just speculation of course... I'm not holding my breath, but I'm hopeful.

@Browny I’m not sure sugiyama koichi even worked on dq11. The music mostly seemed to be from past dq games.

And toriyama had an army of assistants. He was a victim of his own popularity.

As long as they don’t make it an action game or turn it into some game of thrones wannabe… or a massive three part mini game fest…

Didn’t shares literally just dip a minute ago when they announced the switch 2, and now they’re up? People more fickle than my exes.

It’s not exactly portable if you need a table/desk or 3-4 hands to use it…

@Mariotag neither. It’s the granddaddy of final fantasy and everything we know and love. One could say dungeons and dragons had two children, wizardry and ultima, whom begat dragon quest and final fantasy. Lots of sloppy incest involved.

She deserves it. It’s great.

That said, pretty much all the other nominees are the type of game soundtrack that tries to be “cinematic” and a movie soundtrack and sit in the background. Like elevator music.

Where’s the nomination for shoji meguro’s metaphor refantazio soundtrack? Or how about the dragon quest 3 remake? They’re both works of genius. The rest, again, are background music.

Again, Wizardry soundtrack is genuinely excellent, but…

Maybe I’m just imagining it, but the font they use kinda looks like the font Nintendo’s super mario has used. Not that that means an infringement.

They should really go all platforms. Deca Police needs to be on Xbox, Ps5, switch, and preferably PC as well.

@HeadPirate I certainly hope so. I liked Ryza 1’s combat (which I don’t think has a huge amount in common with Ryza 3). The combat in blue reflection 2’s demo kind of confused me too, but I didnt hate it.

But if it’s more like these games where you control one character and the rest control themselves at the same time, I’m so out. 😂

@Juga_Juga it doesn’t need Larian to port it. Or, maybe they already have ported it. It can still happen, assuming the switch 2 can handle it. The Xbox series S version might not be a tough port.

Nothing like tacking on mouse support to make sure switch 2 mouse games are a pain to port to future hardware… 🙄 there are still so many games stuck on ds and 3ds for similar reasons

Well that’s a massive bummer all around. Both Celeste and towerfall are so good. I’m sad this one will never be finished.

Or maybe it wasn’t turning out well anyway considering all these challenges we didn’t know about. What a bummer. I was looking forward to it. Looked beautiful.

I’m not particularly interested. I’m kind of sick of actiony soulsy RPG. That said, it would probably do well, wouldn’t it? Doesn’t matter whether I’m interested. It should sell decent numbers.

They’re both bad. He looked best in super Mario kart 1992.

@VoidofLight Probably, although they can yellow just from any UV, i.e. it doesn't have to be direct sunlight or anything. It's funny, because I was hoping for a white one with the Super Famicom button colors--but I guess that was more for the vibe, not for the whiteness. Grey would be pretty neat! Or Famicom colors! But whatever--we don't get to choose so I guess I'll be happy with what i get.

@VoidofLight my super nes and super famicom both yellowed from sunlight. Could be that, or your hands! My ps5 controller is a little yellowy, and I haven’t even played it that much.

I have quite a bit of Best Buy credit, so I figure why not get one?

On the other hand, I could just as easily say why rush… but I’d probably rather play my switch backlog on a switch 2.

Kinda wish these included the sega cd versions, which are pretty totally different. But I understand why they don’t.

Im more interested in new stuff than ports really. Altho baldurs gate 3 would be pretty sweet… But ive played it enough already!

@CooCooKaChoo there’s no world in which it will have an ssd. It might have memory chips that are almost as fast, and is supposed to use new microSDs that are almost as fast…

I hope this sets a standard. I’ve played games all my life and never been as embarrassed as I am now by the discourse and action of a small minority of bigot gamers.

@BTB20 it hasn’t changed a whole lot! I think the snes original is a better design (and better music) but still overrated

@jojobar the level design, control, and mechanics just aren’t that great, which is highlighted by the re-releases. I’d say it’s upper-mid tier. It’s no super mario world, but it’s also better than a lot of the mid tier platformers of the day. Like, it’s maybe a little above an earthworm Jim level game. Graphics, music, vibes, all great and took it to the next level in 1995 with Nintendo’s marketing. But it’s far from a nintendo Japan tier platformer.

It’s not even “portable” anymore given it’s importable size and low battery life—and that’s just switch 1.

I played the snes version. That was plenty. Overrated game with awesome music and, at the time, incredible graphics that are now irrelevant.

@RetroGames that’s how I feel about the non-Light too. I think what you suggest would help a lot. I don’t know how children with tiny hands play these things. I’ve played 99% docked. Games that require zero nuance or reflex are fine. Everything else is obtuse.

@citizenerased I'm guessing it will overclock when docked (probably with a fan on the dock itself); when undocked, I'm thinking it will waaaaay underclock. And still have terrible battery life anyway probably. I don't really get the point of "portable" systems if you can only play while plugged in to the wall, personally, but I'm old.

@Axecon Yeah, I'm expecting the Switch 2 to actually be larger. And the no docking would be a dealbreaker for me on a Lite 2! What would be sort of ideal for me, would be to have a cheaper dock-only Switch 2, and a cheaper/smaller Switch Lite 2. Obviously that won't happen though and would be full of issues. I'm sure I'll survive with a Switch 2, and frankly, the abject lack of battery life on Switch 1 was just as much a limit to my portable play as was the massive form factor. Don't really wanna carry a fkn purse around with me like I'm a damn gogo girl
