All of the Blum games look interesting at the very least. This one and the cozy horror one grab me most! I love that they’re helping so many cool indie games get attention and come to light. Good on them. Hope they keep them coming. I want some RPGs next!
It looks really cool. I hope it turns out and does well. I’d love to see more new games based on/around or taking inspiration from old games, without necessarily just remaking them or even existing in the same genre.
@JackieCMarlow the gameplay was 2.5D. The sequel’s graphics were fully polygonal 3D, not the mixture of 2D sprites and 3D polygons that the first used.
Tomba is one of the best of all time. The sequel wasn’t as good, mostly because it went full 3D and lost some charm. Hope this remake retains the charm of the original!
He should really bare bones remake sweet home, too.
@RJCW seconded—would love the ultimas. But I (ultimately) keep wishing wizards of the coast would grow some you-know-whats, and beg digital eclipse to give the SSI Gold/Black/Silver Box games their treatment, in whatever capacity.
I was more worried about the writing. I don’t care about the visuals. (I do think some of the character designs are pretty awesome tho!) glad it seems to have turned out…?? Casually optimistic…
@JustinH Yeah, I hadn't even gotten around to playing the first yet when the second already came out. Bought them both, though. It didn't get any kind of advertising, either. I'm not sure how Nintendo expects stuff to sell. They could at least put it under an RPG heading on the front of the eShop or something. No one knew this game even existed.
@WiiLovePeace Weird, you're right... I never even noticed this game had English voices at all.
Xseed properly "localized" that first game. They didn't do it to upset people; they did it to try to make a profit. If they had made a profit, instead of losing money, we'd have gotten the second and we'd be getting the third.
@Captain_Toad It's an expensive game to translate and localize. It would still need to sell well on the eShop to even make a small profit. I wish Namco themselves would do it, but Xseed would not be smart after the money they lost on the first one. Unfortunately it's just not as simple as translating it and slapping it on the eShop.
@WiiLovePeace First off all, the game was not dubbed. It still had the Japanese voices (which were just occasional sound clips anyway). Secondly, even if it did have English voices, which it didn't, why would that make it their fault that the game didn't sell well? I'm personally grateful they put so much work into that game. They even advertised it. It didn't sell. They would have been crazy to localize the second one. I wish someone would pick up the third for an eShop-only release, but these kinds of games are expensive to localize, and Xseed would be making a poor business decision to do it.
I think I want this game more than anyone, but don't blameshift.

Re: Round Up: Day Of The Devs SGF Edition 2024 - Every Announcement, All Confirmed Switch Games
@Freek it’ll get announced Sunday on the Xbox thing. Don’t worry. It might even shadow drop.
Re: Round Up: Day Of The Devs SGF Edition 2024 - Every Announcement, All Confirmed Switch Games
UFO50 is the coolest thing from any of the many announcement shows of late. Reminds me of Retro Game Challenge (Arino no Chousenjou)

I’d be happy to play the super famicom version.

@Zeebor15 I wasn’t interested in reboot camp myself, but it was well received…

Re: Tomba! Special Edition Is An Enhanced Release Of A Beloved PS1 Platformer, Out August
@LikelySatan yep. Polygons are 3D. Tomba 1 still used some sprites.

Re: Dragon Quest XII: The Flames Of Fate Minor Development Update Shared
@Samalik his design work would have been completed in the initial stages, or most of it at least—characters, monsters, concept art
Re: Dragon Quest XII: The Flames Of Fate Minor Development Update Shared
Just don’t make it a stupid action game or another game of thrones influenced cringe fest.
Re: New Rumours About Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake Surface
@John_Deacon midori has a 100% track record.
Re: New Rumours About Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake Surface
@westman98 why? She’s yet to leak anything that wasn’t true. If she suddenly starts being wrong, ok. Til then, her track record is 100%, bbs.
Re: New Rumours About Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake Surface
Day one purchase for me
Wish they’d do something with 4-6 tho, stuck on DS! And the excellent Dq 7 remake stuck on 3ds needs a port (8 too).
Also glad to see this go multi platform. Frankly the HD-2D stuff looks way better on non-switch…

@Jacoby yeah I’d really like to see 5-8 the most! Or just all of them…
Re: Review: Wizardry: Proving Grounds Of The Mad Overlord (Switch) - A Grand Remake Of An Iconic Game
I got this on Xbox but maybe shoulda gone switch. Would’ve been fun to have portable. (But then I always end up playing docked anyway.)
Re: Review: Capes (Switch) - Solid Superhero Strategy That Channels XCOM
@Kochambra yep I’m still waiting for some more games to channel freedom force and Superhero League of Hoboken!!

@unrandomsam Because these games are a lot of work to translate.
