In December last year, concerns were raised when multiple retailers removed pre-order options for the Switch version of Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled – with some even going as far as cancelling customer pre-orders. Soon after this, it was discovered the game’s official website was displaying a ‘Coming Soon’ message under the digital and standard Switch pre-order section.
Fortunately, there's no need to worry about a potential delay, as multiple retailers – including Amazon and GameStop – have now opened pre-orders for the Switch version of CTR. Although the official game site still says the title is ‘Coming Soon’ and does not provide an exact release date, Nintendo’s game page has the game scheduled to arrive on 21st June, which lines up with the release on other platforms.
Take a look at the first lot of Switch screenshots above and below:

Now give us Crash Bash and my life will be complete
Honestly, I'm never really concerned about release dates for ports and remakes. It's not like it's some brand new game that I'm dying to play. I'll probably buy it but I could easily just go without.
From what I've seen of the Switch images it's looking rather good!
When the question comes up if this game is better than Mario Kart, I will forever always say, "who cares?" Because it isn't the comparative quality that matters, but the minuscule differences and quirks that make it the unique game it is.
@ieatdragonz Same applies to Diddy Kong Racing. Rough as it is, racing around in different vehicles is an absolute blast. I never played the original CTR, but now that it (probably) has some QoL enhancements, I might just take it for a spin!
Looking forward to this. The original was a terrific game. If it’s remade to the same standard as the Trilogy it’ll be excellent.
@Tsurii That's the internet for you. The anonymity can bring out the worst Tribalism or galvanize other negative traits in people. It's also responsible for much-needed irreverence and honesty, and that's worth way more than the drawbacks.
This game is automaticaully better than mario kart 8 becuase its strictly karts/car type vehicles.
Ninty is going to have to step it up with a 1st party racer... This looks way better than MK8 lol
What next? WipEout?
@Tsurii It's a different company that are making the CTR remake but I am hoping they get the physics alike to the original game because the physics were pretty good in OG CTR.
Also it's just me but I didn't really have much issues with the controls in N.Sane but again that's just me.
@GrailUK Maybe the letter F and the number Zero should be given the spotlight next.
@Emperor-Palpsy
Yes. Please.
Spyro better be in the game as well.
@Emperor-Palpsy What’s Crash Bash?
@SimplyCinnamon53 The ‘Crash’ equivalent of Mario Party, which released in the 90s. It was incredibly popular and hella fun.
@Tsurii Not sure what you’re exactly talking about but I heard they wanted all the games to feel the same as each other so they added 3’s physics to each game.
@Emperor-Palpsy I think I might have played that one! Was it 4 player?
@Wesjedker I like how you think! (But man, not without analogue triggers for drifting)
Will it be 60 fps? If not then MK8 will remain as my karting fix for a bit longer
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
Crash Team Racing
Team Sonic Racing
The trifecta of cart racing on the go, multiplayer on the spot.
@JaxonH
I should really buy transformed someday, Sega all stars racing was awesome!
And CTR was my favourite 64 era racing game, so I'm really looking forward to finally own it myself (always played it at a friends house. )
I'm still going to buy this game at day one, make no mistake of that! The only possible drawback is that Mario Kart has improved a lot since the way lamer Mario Kart 64 (which has aged horribly) days.
On the other hand, Mario Kart 64 is still Mario Kart, and the fact Crash Team Racing wiped the floor with it back in the day is a sign of the title's quality. Now, I'm a bit nervous about the developer of this remake not being the same team, but hopefully they'll do good ol' CTR the justice it deserves. When you know how to play it, CTR is easily the fastest kart racer around, and is ridiculously fun with its tight controls even at the highest speed.
If you're too much of a purist to give it a try via its PS1 iteration, feel free to either watch gameplay clips on YT or emulate to your heart's content. You'll see quickly enough why this game is one to keep an eye on.
I'm looking forward to this.
Looks very good
Tried playing the PS2 sequel with my uni housemates last year, we like it but all agreed that the drift controls aren’t great. Makes me wonder if they’ll be exactly the same for this one.
@Tsurii You seem upset, here, have a Snickers
Hopefully this game has aged well and convinces me to make a purchase down the line. I really don't want to purchase Mario Kart 8 Deluxe since I already played it on Wii U a ton, minus the new battle modes of course.
I desperately hope this one is good. I don't foresee a new Mario Kart coming out anytime soon, with how well MK8DX is selling. So I need me some more kart racing games that aren't kids show shovelware quality. Bonus points if they have their own interesting style.
@NintyNate where do you put bait on your fishing rod?
@Aozz101x don't need bait lol
@Timppis @Emperor-Palpsy Thirded!
This is not going to be a patch on Mario Kart, anybody saying otherwise is deluded.
@NintyNate good enough for me
This looks good but I really wish someone would make a sequel to F1 All Stars.
I only played the original CTR a few years ago on PS3 and really enjoyed it. Will check reviews first but think I will be getting the remake, can't see them going wrong with it myself.
Dont really care how it compares to Mario Kart myself, and this is coming from someone who has played and enjoyed all the MK games. (8 being my favorite racer of all-time.)
Ive heard good things about the original PS1 game and this remake looks solid.
Okay Konami when will you remake this game, we need the Konami/Hudson mascots back in the kart racing scene as well and this time bring in Bonk, Sparkster, Solid Snake, Bomberman, and Simon Belmont as well.
Already have Mario Kart. Do I need Crash Bandicoot on it.
Excellent! Can't wait. Hoping Oxide station is now available in multiplayer.
Will definitely play it more than MK8DX (which I just really play with friends)
looks like i'll be getting the switch and ps4 version on the same day lol
Never played this but it looks great. I love Mario Kart but I don't care for the Sonic racing game.
Off the subject, any chance Crash lands on Smash?
@Tsurii They definitely changed the controls, I've got the original games on PsVita & on the remaster, the jump mechanics are a lot less forgiving
