My 2 cents: it's Zelda. The sequel to BOTW. They've been working on it for 6 years, when the engine was already built. It's gonna be freaking huge and super awesome and give me so much delight, I couldn't care less about $10. I guess I'm a dumb Nintendo fan.
@TheBigBlue Thanks for the answer! I wanted to enjoy them in the past, Kirby's cute and I like the idea of the inhaling mechanic, but I guess my brain just needs some challenge to stay engaged. It's interesting that the breeziness of it is exactly what some people enjoy.
People who love Kirby games: what do you love about them? I'm genuinely asking. For me it's too easy so I can't get through it. But I guess people are enjoying it for other reasons. What are they? What does it make you feel?
The game we're playing WAS MADE BY THE PREVIOUS TEAM. Yes, graphical improvements and others were made by the new team, but the core of the game was created back then. Not crediting them is just wrong.
@RobbWes Thanks. A lot of the allure of this game was its looks and fluidity for me. So with the 30 FPS and the visuals I saw in the Switch trailer I'll wait to play it on Xbox or PS.
@bluemage1989 For me The Messenger is good, Celeste is a masterpiece. They are also very different games, I would characterize The Messenger as more of an action game. Celeste is a pure platformer.
@CammyUnofficial yeah that could be a good idea. I think I might have tried it in the demo and was still bothered by the writing, but I'm not sure. Don't remember if it had a Japanese audio option or not.
I can't with this cringe writing and voice acting. ughhh I want to love Octopath, and I really enjoyed the battle system in the demo, but I can't suffer through 5 minutes of this. Looks exactly the same in the new game.
It has started feeling super old to me in the last year or so. A combination of getting an Xbox SX and just a lot of games on Switch really struggling this year.
Damn, I'm sad whenever I read that some people didn't love BOTW. Though I already know it's a divisive game. Anyway, my hype for TOTK is out of this world.
VERY excited for TOTK.
Hoping for a Wind Waker port - still haven't played that one and I always loved how it looked (just didn't have a gamecube or a wii-u).
Looking forward to Silksong for sure even though I got burnt out on Hollow Knight pretty late in the game. I still thought it was very special.
I can't wait to have a Fire Emblem in the old style, without all the school stuff.
And Advance Wars.
If Earthblade's coming 2023 I'm mega hyped for that too.
I'm really looking forward to this. Celeste is is a top-5 game ever for me, and Towerfall is a game I love as well.
Punching enemies with a sword doesn't look as fun as Celeste, but I also wasn't that impressed with the Celeste gameplay that I saw in the trailer until I played the game itself. So I trust Maddy and the team.
I bounced off it. Too much tinkering, recruiting kids, talking to people, walking around in the castle. Overwhelmed by options and things to do that weren't the actual battles and strategy in them.
@DanTee That's good to know. I bounced off these two games the same way you did (wanted to love it but gameplay just wasn't interesting enough - played maybe 2 hours of each), and was wondering if Hades would be different or not.
This game is beautiful. I don't usually enjoy games that are too easy (Kirby), but this one is just such a joy to look at and interact with that the low difficulty didn't irk me.
@SmaggTheSmug Awesome Games in the service of romance.
I also love both of these games. When I played LIADS with a girlfriend she thought I was too bossy and felt insulted, though. That sucked I'm pretty sure I'm not bossy...
OK guys and gals, I finally caved in around a month ago and bought Hollow Knight - again - for the Switch. I decided I'm going to destroy that pesky Soul Master once and for all, based on your responses. (see my comments and replies to me above)
This time I didn't reach it after 12 hours... I've reached it after 25 hours! I've found a whole lot more game around that I didn't find last time. I became way stronger. I went to the soul master with the stronger nail and the shield and fast healing charms and I just destroyed it in the 1st attempt! It even had a 2nd stage to the battle - which I was not aware of. Destroyed that too!
Actually, It was the only boss so far that I beat on my 1st attempt. (not including the 10 or so failed attempts at it from when I had Hollow Knight on my computer...)
@zool wow, Zool! Brings back memories... You sure you don't like games being hard just for the sake of it? I remember Zool being super hard, but I was just a young kid, maybe it wasn't that bad. Awesome game, anyway
I really thought I'd love this but I don't like it so much. Love the responsiveness and the animations, but it's hard, and sometimes in a way that doesn't seem fair.
I keep blowing myself up and not completely understanding what I did wrong, and how to change it. I feel that the central mechanic is not as well honed as in something like Celeste.
@kevin74 In portable mode with headphones on this thing is an out-of-this-world experience, kind of like being on some kind of hallucigenic drug ... I would say that this is not at all similar to other falling block games because of this, and definitely way better than Puyo Puyo Tetris. It's something else.

@TheBigBlue I think they're always working on a mainline one. I'd be really surprised if they weren't.

Re: Review: The Pathless - Slick, Open-World Traversal Transitions To Switch Solidly
Is it 60 FPS on Switch?
Re: Celeste Gets Beautiful New Collector's Edition For Fifth Anniversary
Yeah this cover art is a bit strange looking compared to the Madeline we know. Perhaps it was purposefully made to look more transgender.

@Diogmites yeah every 6.5 years, what's wrong with them. They should have 50 years in between

The correct answer is The Punchuin.

@Pikki Bowser's Fury, I forgot about that one! What an awesome and fun game.

@Sonos Thank you for the specific scenario.
Re: Rhythm Puzzler 'Project Timi: Sasha's Curse' Casts Its Spell On Switch Next Year
@Dogorilla Yeah the rhythm part doesn't seem very prominent in this trailer.
Seems like the places where you use it are similar to Necrodancer.
Re: WayForward's Co-Op Brawler 'Dawn Of The Monsters' Gets New Trailer And Release Window
@impurekind It's like 60FPS with really nice animations so to me doesn't feel Flash at all. I really like how it looks.
Re: Best Nintendo Switch Card Games, Board Games And Deck Builders
@KevinLo9 came here to say the same thing! Monster Train, NL, Monster Train!
Re: Random: Have You Seen This Hidden Dialogue In Zelda: Breath Of The Wild?
Hard to fathom that some people didn't like BOTW. It shows me how different inside people can really be.
For me it's waaaaaaay better than any other zelda game, and better than almost all other games period.
Re: Deck-Building Card Battler 'Monster Train First Class' Is Out Now On Switch
This game is soooooooooooooooooo good.
It just ate my entire day.
Please review it, NintendoLife!

Re: Timeloop Game Outer Wilds Finally Comes To Switch This Summer
Direct highlight for me. I was waiting for this game. I hope it's not too muddy / yucky / low-fps on Switch.
Re: Soapbox: 10 Years On, Kirby's Epic Yarn Is Still The Pink Puffball's Finest Outing
All Kirby games are too easy. Boring
Re: Review: Hades - A Heavenly Trip Into Hell That's Utterly Essential For All Switch Owners

Re: Commander Keen In Keen Dreams Comes To Switch Again, This Time With New Levels
@Kalmaro I played a lot of Keen 4 (this one) and other numbered entries on our PC when I was a kid. I loved these games.

Re: Picross S3 Brings Colour Puzzles To Switch This Week, But There's Still No Touchscreen Support
Why only 30 levels of the new mode?
I'm a bit fatigued of the old ones.
I wonder if they think the new mode is not good enough?

@SmaggTheSmug I'd like to hear that story
Re: Review: Hollow Knight (Switch eShop)
OK guys and gals, I finally caved in around a month ago and bought Hollow Knight - again - for the Switch. I decided I'm going to destroy that pesky Soul Master once and for all, based on your responses. (see my comments and replies to me above)
This time I didn't reach it after 12 hours... I've reached it after 25 hours! I've found a whole lot more game around that I didn't find last time. I became way stronger. Now I admit: yes, this game is awesome!
